Yep, you can choose the research from a tech tree. Each time you start the game, the techs are randomised to a limited degree, to make player's change up their tactics every now and then.

Hmm, I read the research is blind, but it looks like you're choosing research ala a Civ tree? Can you do either like you could in SMAC?

Nice gameplay w/ explanation probably will help people who are new to the 4x/Grand strategy genre. Also glad to see you seem to like the game being the writer on it and all :3 I can tell your a gamer.
