Opis
This is the low violence version of my famas Despair, my first entry for the Dreams & Nightmares contest! I love Dragon Lore and its imagery and I really wanted to bring to life my take on a corrupted version, like straight out of a nightmare. It didn't start as such, at first it was some kind of "Dragon of Light" but as I was sketching thumbnails and cleaning it started to become this beast of oblivion.

The Dragon is in constant agony, destroying and recreating its body at the same time, feeding on the terror of its victims and taking their souls in its wake. I enjoyed a lot merging "organic fibers" with the metal knots and intertwine their design.

Opposed to the original Dragon Lore it doesn't breath fire but cold, dead souls. I was really trying to avoid doing skulls to represent them because it would require extra work for the low violence version. However I didn't want to give up in our culture and well, I really like skulls so I got to it! For it's low violence version I've changed the skulls for "screaming soul faces".

As I worked on this finish I've focused on making sure that the most important point of interest (the dragon's head) is visible while inspecting and using the gun regularly. You can see in the process how very early on I move the Dragon so it's in the most appropiate area. I've focused a lot on values and readability.

As for colors I was going to do it way more flashy and bright but I was afraid of overdoing it so to keep it under the classified tier I got a hold of myself. It suits the theme of the weapon anyways, being death, nightmares, agony and the likes :D

Also I like a loooot how the eye in the background came up. There's one as well directly in front of the player, for the player perspective.

I hope you like it, thanks for checking it out!
