Desert bus is simple:

Drive a virtual bus for 8 hours along the vast desert.

Whilst driving, Your bus will slowly turn to the right.
this is the games "Challenge" part.

if u drive off the road, u will then be towed all the way back to the start
(so if u go for 5 hours, it will take 5 hours to get towed back).

Here are my best tips for desert bus:

1. Set ur graphical settings to best your hardware.

Desert bus isn't that hard to run on any pc, your fps should be fine.
BUT, ingame, around the 4-5 hour mark, it will turn night time. At night, Lights inside and outside the bus will be far more intense. Computers with a bad graphics card will struggle to handle these graphics.

To quote Bruh "I swear to god my frames are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥' itself from these lights in the front of the bus"


When launching the game, go to settings and change them to fit ur PC.

2. Distractions (how to spot whats a good distraction and a bad distraction)

8 hours is a long time.
You will need something to do during the trip.
In game, there is a radio "podcast" that u might think is worthwhile listening to.
At first, it is very interesting with an interview with one of the masterminds from pen and teller talking about the backstory to the game.

This may be interesting at first, but after 10 mins, it gets old, FAST.

What are better alternatives?

Listening to music
Talking with friends
Watching a movie

What are worse alternatives?

Checking Social media (whether it be on ur phone or on a different tab)
Playing another game.
drinking (not just alcohol but coffee and some soft drinks).

3. How to safely go AFK

Whilst driving the bus, slowly let go of 'W' and make sure u dont just let go of all keys.
slowly tap 'A' so u dont go of course.

In desert bus VR (only VR version btw not the sega cd version)
u can stop the bus for aslong as u want, it is best to only use this for when u need to go to the bathroom or need to get something to eat (also eat whilst driving, dont go for 40 mins eating a whole turkey)

Here are some real life tips:

1. do not drink coffee or sugary drinks:

I recommend drinking (maximum) of 1 can of soft drink or 1 cup of coffee.
coffee and most sugary drinks can sometimes work as a sweat laxative.

During Desert Bus, u do not want to need to sh!t all 8 hours of desert bus, that is a painful experience :D.

2. Stay Awake tips:

Splashing water on your face is great for keeping u awake.
Having a small cup or bowl of water on ur desk or table so u can splash water on your face when u get tired.

No caffeine.
Caffeine is really bad for your gut, you will need to poop.
do not drink it during desert bus.
Also Coffee is bad for your teeth, don't end up like Karen over here with her yellow old teeth.
