Animation override descriptions
By Lehti
Have you tried to make an avatar, for example for desktop, without knowing too much about the keybinds, only to be greeted by the somewhat confusingly named avatar animation overwrites? This guide will hopefully help you out if you found yourself in that situation too!

Emotes
The emotes are commonly used for things like waving, dancing, and so on. On keyboard, you can trigger them with 1-8 whilst holding down either Alt key or the right ctrl key. You can also trigger them from the menus by pressing the button.
Hands
The HandLeft is for left hand (left shift + 1-8), and the right hand is for right shift. On keyboard, the names/gestures are mapped to the numbers as follows:
  • 1: Open
  • 2: Relaxed
  • 3: Fist
  • 4: ThumbsUp
  • 5: Gun
  • 6: Point
  • 7: Peace
  • 8: Rock'n'roll

The hand gestures are often mapped to facial expressions.

Unlike VRC though, Shift+2 is the default (instead of Shift+F1 in VRC). So the default state is Relaxed.
Loc
The Loc* overwrites are for triggering animations when you're in a certain position or moving in a certain way. Crouching is when you're leaning down, but not sitting in a chair but also not lying down, on keyboard triggered by pressing c. Flying is when you're floating in the air. Jumping is when you jump. Prone is when you're laying on the floor, triggered by x on the keyboard. Running when you are moving fast, on keyboard by holding shift. Walking is when you're moving normally. And sitting is when you're sitting in a chair for example.

The location overwrites can be used for making your characters movement animate different, or for changing the laying down position.
States
The states are basically just custom toggles. You can toggle them in the UI, and they can be used for example to enable or disable certain features of your avatar.
