Prologue
The world is a harsh one, allowing the free will of man to choose what side they stand by. A world filled with heretics who distract themselves from the gods by believing in their false ones; void of any true faith or wisdom. These heretics deserve the unprejudiced suffering that our great lord bestows upon them. But others deserve worse; those who worship the foul god Buggo are of the greatest evil. Only those who follow our true lord, the Bug Lord shall reign supreme. The Bug Lord spreads the righteous values of chaos while Buggo infects the world with order. Thus, fowl Buggo worshippers hide among the heretics plotting evil deeds while those who follow the Bug Lord cast themselves away from the heretic society and live their lives in hidden underground churches, only coming out to gather supplies or to crusade against those who stand against the Bug Lord’s will.
The Bug Lord and Buggo are both ethereal beings. They do not exist in material form in our world and can only affect it indirectly. They are only visible in the mind, and they both have unique powers they possess. Buggo has the power to make new disgusting creations at will, but he can only do so with the help of his worshippers. Thus, it takes years for him to devise new methods to spread his will or attack righteous Bug Lord worshippers. On the other hand, the Bug Lord has the awesome power to control those either at random or those who have the most faith. These people are known as the chosen. When someone becomes chosen, they feel an immense power take over them, and they obsessively scream in agony if they try to resist our great lord’s will. Thus, when praying to our great lord, or the chosen, worshippers scream at the top of their lungs and use devices such as thorns to cut ourselves for our great lord. The chosen are treated as gods among our kind because if one is being used as a pawn for the Bug Lord, our great lord must be inside of them. So, in a way, they are the Bug Lord. Both gods are more powerful depending on the number of worshippers they influence. Thus, both strive for dominion over Earth. Before, they would focus on gaining the control of bugs, as they overpopulate the planet. But now, a new species has taken control. Humans.
For centuries, Buggo had been working on a new creation. A jet-black egg that would hatch into an impenetrable monster. A monster that would be undefeatable by Bug Lord worshippers. A monster with great tunneling ability. The demon worm. Buggo’s previous creation (Froggo) had failed miserably and ended up consuming most Buggo worshippers, so the fowl god had to take a new approach in order to ensure domination over those who supported the Bug Lord. As Buggo’s number of supporters had dwindled, it took especially long for him to manifest this putrid egg. Now, he would have to find a host capable of nourishing the egg. In order for the beast to emerge, the egg would need to feed off the power of the Bug Lord. Thus, Buggo would need this egg planted in one of the chosen. There was one delirious worshipper who had the Bug Lord inside of him. He was known as the Praying Mantis because he would spend all day and night speaking to the Bug Lord, desperate that he would respond.
Two spies were sent by Buggo to the underground church that the Praying Mantis resided in and they tricked him into thinking that the Bug Lord had responded to his prayers. They called out in the cave, and the Praying Mantis thought the voice he heard was of his great lord. The dark egg was then rolled towards the Praying Mantis, and the voices told him that he was tasked to consume the egg for the Bug Lord. Foolishly, without thinking of his actions, the Praying Mantis consumed the egg in one gulp. After 30 long days, the Demon Worm emerged from the abdomen of the Praying Mantis, killing him viciously. Then the worm burrowed into the underground church walls, collapsing the church, killing hundreds of Bug Lord supporters. The worm ate these worshippers, and thus grew in size and durability. With each body consumed, the worm would gain strength and thus wreak more havoc. The Demon Worm destroyed many churches and leveled the playing field between the Bug Lord and Buggo. Now Bug Lord worshippers hid further away and deeper in order to escape the wrath of the Demon Worm. For centuries, no man dares step up to fight this wicked beast, until the birth of a legend. On what heretics would call the year 1330 C.E, Thormas the centipede was born.
Story
Hear me! We know of the great sacrifices our ancestors have made to the Bug Lord during the valiant Bug Crusades. We know of those our great lord has chosen and the laudable destruction these individuals have caused towards heretics and Buggo worshippers! They have helped our cause by spreading our great lord’s will throughout the lands, and by slaying those who threaten his will. But there were darker times when the demon worm arose and all who were chosen had perished. In these troubling times, many gave up on their faith, and many kept praying, hoping a hero would step up against this ruthless foe. And while no new chosen had appeared, there was a particularly interesting child found abandoned in the woods by a man known as the Locust. The Locust was going to murder this poor child, but he was perplexed by the multitude of dead animals around the young boy. It seems that in a fit of rage, this boy had slain a multitude of animals including a young deer, three colorful parrots, a rabbit, a fox, and a turtle. All these animals ripped to shreds. Upon noticing this, the Locust was ecstatic.
“Finally, a worthy savior for our kind”, the Locust thought, “The Bug Lord has given me the miracle of finding such a child”.
The Locust then brought the child to where he and his fellow disciples worshipped and lived, an underground church that was dug into the side of a mountain. There, the young boy grew up, only getting more extreme with his hissy fits. His rage would grow so vast that occasionally, he would murder disciples with ease, using his bare fists, and consume their corpses. The disciples grew more and more certain that this young boy was the key to slay the demon worm every time he would have a fit of rage. The boy was named Thormus the Centipede. He was named after the centipede due to his agile movements while attacking others, and his affinity to eating corpses. Every day, Thormus would only grow in strength and rage.
Upon reaching adolescence, Thormus was finally allowed to leave the church as he pleased. This was both beneficial to Thormus and the disciples because it would allow Thormus to continue to hone his skills in battle, and the disciples didn’t have to worry about being murdered anymore. Every day, Thormus would wander around, slaying all who did not worship the Bug Lord. He often felt incontestable in battle, so to challenge himself, he would wander into small villages where heretics lived and slay each one with his bare hands. Word of his wrath spread far across the lands and he became a well-known figure for all Bug Lord worshippers. The disciples had never told him of the threat that the demon worm posed, so he wandered the world without fear, unlike the rest of the Bug Lord worshippers.
Once he was an adult, he built his own church overground, because he wanted enemies to find him so that he could defeat them in battle. He was the only one to reside in this church because all Bug Lord worshippers feared the demon worm and hid from Buggo supporters. Often, groups of ten or more militant Buggo worshippers would attack the church at a time, but Thormus easily crushed these foes and ate their remains. The floor of his church was soaked in blood and the bones of his enemies were scattered around."
