Intro
Hello! Guides are kind of a new thing to me. So... Don't expect this to be perfect. Mkay? Alright. If you're doubting me, stop. I have over 50 hours in this game. I know what I'm doing. High score of 1011.35 seconds. Want to see a demo of how Super Hexagon is played, check my video. HERE!
First Tip
First off, don't try to do more than one thing at once. By that, I mean only play Super Hexagon and concentrate on Super Hexagon.
Second Tip
Second, stay calm. Yeah yeah I know... You just got past your last record and you're freaking out. There's no stopping that. Just... Stay focused, keep steady breathing, and try to forget about TIME in the game. 37.14 seconds on Hyper Hexagonest right now? Forget about that.
Third Tip
Third, don't blink! Blinking is a big mistake if you don't know when to blink. Trust me on this one. You need to time your blinking in the game after Hexagonest or you're screwed. Hyper Hexagonest is an excellent example for this. Your eyes are tired from all that looking around your screen. Look at that! There's a swirl pattern! Blink when you get inside of it. Just... Don't blink multiple times or in the middle of a pattern like the right right left left left one. It's just going to make the game seem to teleport the blocks/lines closer to you unexpectedly.
Fourth Tip
Forth, recognize the pattern. Tough patterns such as the double right triple left pattern probably hold you back for about an hour to three hours until you can finally figure out what to do in the pattern. Since there are so many people who know this pattern already, just look up a Hyper Hexagonest video on YouTube and pause it on the pattern you're stuck on. Practice the pattern.
Fifth Tip
Fifth, appreciate the spinning in Super Hexagon! Anyone that is good enough at the moment to make it to the "Black and White" level on Hyper Hexagonest knows what I mean. The spinning allows you to see things easier. Because computer monitors are not square or equal on all sides, some things will be harder to react to. In the "Black and White" level, which I like to call "Limbo", doesn't spin nearly at all. It just does a sudden spin similar to the one in Hexagonest. Blocks/lines that have the opening vertically/up and down are a hell of a lot more difficult to react to and survive in. This is because vertical is the short end of the monitor (pretty obvious). 1920x1080 is a specific example of how this is. The second number in things like this is the Y-axis or vertical. Notice it's nearly half of the X-axis, or horizontal. See what I mean now if you didn't already figure it out? If not, well... Oh well. I suck at explaining stuff.
Sixth Tip
Sixth, don't push buttons any more or longer than you need to. The freestyle pattern in Hyper Hexagonest shows this quite well. If you don't know what pattern this is, it's a string of 4 little blocks where you can get out of in many different ways. You can go right four times, left four times, left right left right, right left right left, left left right right, the list goes on and on. Spamming a button to get through a pattern like that will make you lose quite a bit of the time. Time your presses accurately. You don't have to spam the left button five hundred times to get through a pattern that takes 4 presses.
Seventh Tip
Seventh, have a good keyboard that responds VERY quickly. My keyboard, the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate, has a key reaction time of 1 millisecond. Comparing the key reaction time to laptop keyboards and things like that are very large. Think of it like this: say your keyboard reaction time is 35 milliseconds. Add that to your initial reaction time: say it's 300 milliseconds. Congrats, your game's reaction time now went up by about 10%. This game is all about reactions, problem solving, timing, etc. You need every advantage you can get.
Eighth Tip
Eighth, turn off Vsync... This kind of goes along with my seventh tip. Vsync is harder on your graphics card and processor. So not only does your FPS drop (if your computer isn't very powerful), but input time is increased. Therefore, making the game not respond as quickly to your commands. The game runs on 60 frame logic, so the game is basically on a 60 framerate lock and calculates on 60 frames per second. Which also affect the looks of the game. Frame blend in the game isn't very noticeable until Limbo/Black and White. Although Vsync does prevent screen tearing, which is basically where two frames are on the screen at once that is split at the middle of the screen at most times. It is not necessarily noticeable, but does become a little annoying seeing a line where the frames are split. Which is a lot more noticeable on Hyper Hexagonest; due to its fast pace, which at 60 frames looks a little choppy.
Ninth Tip
Nineth, have a comfortable position. Mess around with the position you are in. Both hands on keyboard, elbow on desk and rest your chin on your hand, etc
Tenth Tip
Tenth, make sure you're not about to do something important when you're going to play this game for some good practice. I have found literally no use what-so-ever from simply opening up Super Hexagon and playing for like 5 lives of 80 seconds.
Eleventh Tip
Eleventh, no distractions. Noisy people, flashy things. They need to go! Again, concentrate on the game.
Twelfth Tip
Twelfth, is that even how you spell it? I have NEVER written a list this long... Okay now for the real last tip. PERSEVERE!!! You aren't getting anywhere without dedication. Get support from friends to keep your diligence up. ANYTHING to have a reason to keep going. This game is definately tough. Motives are always helpful.
Thirteenth Tip
Okay... Don't ever look at your time. Don't pay attention to sounds that aren't shape names. Don't even think about your time. Don't set standards for yourself in this game. You'll feel like a piece of ♥♥♥♥. Don't expect any good or bad times. Don't think of time at all. Just keep going. Hell, tape layered paper on it so you don't see it at all. Tape paper to the top left of the screen, too. I have a record of 700.37 seconds. I keep getting below 400 as of the past 30 minutes. (3/22/2014) Every time I die now, I feel like throwing my laptop out the window.
End
I hope this wasn't too hard to read... Anyways, this is again my first guide. Cut me some slack. Mkay? Thanks for reading! :D

I just beat Hyper Hexagonest after 12 hours of playing this game. I had Vsync on, and I was listening to youtube while playing. I'm able to focus better when I have something else playing in my ear

Difficulty REALLY increaces on hexagonest and its hyper form. I found myself struggling on them. I've only started playing like a week or a few ago and i SOMEHOW made it to 140 seconds on hyper hexagonner. It's the only level I have reached "boss" or "super hexagon" in.

"I have over 50 hours of gameplay" is a lot less important than your high score. I have 71 hours on this game and have not completed regular hexagonest. I have been trying, but I seem to be bad at these sort of games.

This tutorial taught me new concepts, like patterns instead of pure reaction based play, and pressing just long enough to move 1/6 of a full rotation quickly and consistantly. Maybe my play style is why I haven't gotten past hexagonest with 71 hours of play time
