Russian Audio With English Text

The English voice acting in this game isn't the greatest, so I spent some time figuring out how to change the audio to the Russian voice acting while keeping all the text in English. I figured I'd post this here for anyone else who is having trouble with it like I did.

Accessing Your Gamedata Folder

The gamedata folder is where all the important files are located for S.T.A.L.K.E.R, if your game is already modded, than it will likely already be there, but if you have never modded before, you will have to download the unpacker and and unpack the files.

1) Extract the zip file into your Clear Sky folder.

2) Go to the unpacker folder and run CS_full_unpack.bat, it should look like a black cmd prompt, make sure to give it a minute, at first it may appear as if it is not doing anything, but it will kick in a few.

3) Once it is finished, return to your Clear Sky root directory, and create a folder called "gamedata", without the quotes, and copy the files in the unpacked folder, that was created when you ran the unpacker, and paste them into the new gamedata folder. After that you should be good to go, you should also leave the unpacked folder there to serve as a backup of the vanilla game.

P.S If for any reason this was too difficult to follow, i'm going to provide a link to another guide that explains the process far better than I ever could. He also persevered the download for a universal unpacker, which should allow you to preform the same modification you are about to preform here, for Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat, albeit by making use of a slightly different unpacker, which he explains how to use.

Step 1

All I had to do to keep the text in English was to copy everything from,

Steam\steamapps\common\STALKER Clear Sky\gamedata\configs\text\eng

and paste it into,

Steam\steamapps\common\STALKER Clear Sky\gamedata\configs\text\rus

Step 2

After that, just right click on Stalker Clear Sky and go to properties, and then go to language and change it to Russian.

After the game updates, you should have Russian audio while keeping all the text in English.

The english is fine, nothign wrong with it. i only wish that the campfire talks were in english like in metro-series. I second @Ra the Sungod.

when NPC's talk everything is already in vatnik language, why should I change that for everything else?

followed this guide but after changing the game language to russian on steam and updating, the game audio is all still in english

Guys, the English is fine. You only think the Russian voice acting is better because you can't understand it. It's not. It's about on the same par.

I put in bold that the language needs to be changed to Russian on steam, but when you extract the game files, you use the English script files to override the Russian script files. They shouldn't get overridden when you change the language of the game. The English audio files will change to Russian, even if the gamedata is extracted.

I suppose you should mention that we should change the game language to Russian first of all. Because otherwise we would just extract the english audio files in the gamedata folder and if changing the language later the russian audio files would be override by the english audio it contains. Not to mention that otherwise there is no way to extract the russian audio files from the dialogues scenes.

That's strange, I have 42 items. I would try unpacking the game again, and redoing the text transfer. If that doesn't work then I would just reinstall the game and restart the process.

i have a question, in the carpet of eng, that i have to copy to the russian one, in the english one, they are 18 items or more? Cause in my case it says that they are 18 items, and when i open the game and start playing, only a few things are in english, the other ones are in Russian, help

The names of the files should all be kinda like that, just make a folder called gamedata in your clear skies directory, and paste all those unpacked files into it.

i dont know what i did wrong, in the process of unpacking the stuff, they are files that say stuff like esc_trader_meet_111111 should i re do all?
