Since 1949 the preisdent got his powers ENORMOUSLY reduced making the president more of a figurehead decoration than actualy in charge of the state itself.
The same applies for Westgermany (1949-1990) in 1949 it was not Theodor Heuss who was in charge , but chancellor Konrad Adenauer
