The first thing you're going to want to do is make sure that you have a clean/fresh install of the latest version of If My Heart Had Wings.

Once the game has installed, make sure that you do not have the free Chinese DLC installed. This will prevent the game from being patched.

Before commencing with the patch, run the game once just to check that it's working DO NOT make any saves.

After confirming that your game is working correctly, proceed to the next section.

Firstly what you want to do is create an empty folder on your desktop, you can name it anything you want but for simplicity just name it "patch"

Secondly, you will need to head to the r/IMHHW sub-reddit.

There you will find a pinned post with information on which files you need and such. Both of the files that you will need are highlighted in the following screenshot:

The patch consists of the following 2 files.

1. imhhw_retranslation_patch_v1.1.0.59.bin
   
2. imhhw_retranslation_patch_v1.1.0.59.exe

Once both files are downloaded, place them into the folder you created on your desktop. It should look something like this:

If you have followed the steps so far, you should now have a clean working install of the game, and have the patch files ready in a folder on your desktop.

To patch the game you will first need to open imhhw_retranslation_patch_v1.1.0.59.exe.

Once open you will be met with a window that looks like this:


Hit the Next button to continue, you will then see something that looks like this:


Hit the Browse button and go to where you installed If My Heart Had Wings. The default Steam install location is typically the following:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\Common\If My Heart Had Wings

So If you don't know where you've installed the game, just copy and paste that file path into the box, instead of clicking the Browse button.

Once you have selected the patch location just hit the patch button and the rest of the work is done for you. It took about 5 minutes to patch my game so give it up to 10 minutes and it should be done.

Once the patch is complete you can just close the window.

Now that the patch has finished installing, you're ready to play. To check if the patch has been installed correctly, launch the game and check the title screen. Your title screen should be the Japanese version, which looks like this:


If you click on Config and then go the the Text tab you'll see some text that reads "This is sample text. You are using Konosora English translation patch by Meru! ^ __^":


Removal of the patch is as simple as uninstalling the game, and clearing the game data. To do this, right click the game in your library and click properties, there should be an option to delete game data. Alternatively, go to where you installed If My Heart Had Wings, and just delete the entire folder.

Achievements don't work when the patch is installed, so it's advised to play through the game with the patch, and then for those who care about the achievements can uninstall the patch and use a guide to speed through the game to get the achievements.

There are other guides here on Steam that explain how to install the restoration patch, this is NOT the restoration patch, this is a completely different, and more up-to-date patch which i personally feel is much better. If you have read the other guides and think that you need to change your language locale or something, don't do it, it's not needed to install this patch.
