The Terrible Old Man has a total of 6 Steam achievements, 1 of which is missable, the remaining 5 being story related. All achievements can be earned in a single playthrough taking around 15 minutes to complete.

The game is controlled using just the mouse with the LMB used for interaction (talk/use) and the RMB used to examine.

Note that at the time of writing, Steam is still "learning about this game" so achievements will not yet count towards profile totals, I'm somewhat unsure of the "learning" process, but given the positive reviews, it should only be a matter of time until they count towards profile totals.

Achievement Guide.

The achievements listed below are in order of which I earned them during my playthrough.

Three for Two.

That's quite a deal!
After the initial conversation at the start of the game between the protagonist (Czanek) and his partners in crime, head over to the bar and speak to the Barman to request three beers. The Barman demands $2 for the beers, move the cursor to the top of the screen to open the inventory, click with the LMB on the money to pick it up, drag it over to the Barman and click to give it to him.

Turns out that the barrel is dry so the Barman heads off to replace it. When the barman returns, he serves you three beers and this achievement pops.

We all have our dreams.
***MISSABLE***
Three beers in hand, you rejoin your companions at your table. After a further conversation with your companions Ricci tells you to find out where the old man lives. As soon as your regain control and the cursor icon appears, speak to Silva (your companion with the green flat cap) and after a short conversation, this achievement will pop.

WARNING: If you find out where the old man lives before you earn this achievement, you have missed your opportunity to earn it.

Location uncovered!

The old man won't know what hit him.
After speaking to Silva, head over and speak to the Barman and ask him all three of the available questions. With your conversation options exhausted with the Barman, speak to the two men sat at the bar, just in front of the Barman.

When prompted, your replies should be as follows...
1. Where does the old man live?
2. No.
3. We wish to interview him for the local paper!
4. The Kingsport Commune.

Your conversation with the two men at an end, speak to the woman (there's only one woman in the bar wearing a red dress). There are no options in this conversation, once you have the name of the paper she works for, head back over and speak to the two men at the bar again.

This time around, when prompted reply...
1. We wish to interview him for the local paper!
2. The Kingsport Daily Star.
and at the end of the conversation, this achievement pops.

Unlocked.

What's in the trunk?
With the old mans location in hand, head over and speak to Ricci (your companion sat opposite Silva, wearing the grey hat). After a brief conversation, you and your companions leave the bar and drive over to the old man's home.

After the initial conversation that ensues upon your arrival, try to open the Trunk on the Automobile by clicking on it with your LMB. After discovering that it is locked, speak to Silva to obtain the key.

Key in hand, open the inventory at the top of the screen, left click on the Trunk Key, move it over to the Trunk on the Automobile and left click to unlock the Trunk and this achievement.

Open Sesame.

The riches are within grasp.
With the Masks, Crowbar and Spyglass obtained from the Automobile Trunk, move the cursor to the top of the screen once more click on the Spyglass to pick it up, move it over to the illuminated Window of the house, in the top left corner of the screen and click with the LMB.

After the conversation that ensues access your inventory at the top of the screen again, click on the Masks and give them to Silva, following another short conversation, access your inventory one last time, clicking on the crowbar, moving it over the gate and clicking to use the crowbar on the gate to open it, and earn this achievement.

The End.
