How to remove the game and reinstall a clean version with no left over config files, most mods when unsubbed still leave behind traces that can interfere with your saves, using this method it will reinstall the game and reset all mod configs.

Clean Uninstall/Reinstall

*Make sure you backup your saves folder before moving on any further*
Save game location C:\Users\<WindowsUserName>\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Saves
*Make sure you backup your workshop or at least the folder 255710 before moving on any further*
Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content
*Make sure you backup your appdata/Colossal Order folder before moving on any further*
Location: C:\Users\Game2\AppData\Local
*Make sure you make a note of what maps, themes and LUT's you use before moving on any further as you'll need to resub to these individually after completing the reinstall*

(It's a good idea to keep up to date backups of both your saves and workshop folder)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To perform a clean install you'll need to delete all the Cities Skylines folders, so unsub from all workshop then follow the clean uninstall guide below it.

Unsubscribe from all workshop items by going here
https://sp.zhabite.com/app/255710/workshop/
Then over on the right handside where your profile pic is you'll see My Files, click the dropdown list and choose subscribed items and unsubscribe from all.
Then go to Steam / settings / downloads and clear the download cache.

Uninstall the game, then go to these locations and delete any folders that may be left over
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content delete the 255710 folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common delete the Cities_Skylines folder
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local delete the Colossal Order folder

Reboot your pc/laptop at this point

Reinstall the game then verify the cache.
*Wait for the downloads to finish before verifying the cache.
To verify the files Click Library then right click on Cities Skylines in the left hand pane, select Properties then choose Local Files and click the Verify integrity of game files.

Then try loading the game without any mods or assets and play a new game, if alls good close the game and move to next step.

Then if alls well.
*Copy the Saves folder back across

To get all your mods and assets back, go to Content Manager / Saves section click subscribe to all on the save you use most and wait for all the downloads to finish, your game may freeze or even crash if you have a lot of mods and assets, if this happens restart steam again and let the downloads continue.
After all downloads have completed go back in game Content Manager / Saves and click enable all, you now should have all the active mods and assets back as you were
All configs will be reset at this point.

**Since we now have outdated mods due to the recent update if you subscribe to all on your save you will get all your old mods back, to audit these Sub to this mod, read its description for use then follow the advice given in the report especially in the Major Issues and Unsubscribe sections at the top..**

Always read a mods description before subbing and give a thumbs up and a follow for the author.

**** Warning in some cases copying the whole 255710 folder back over can bring in previous issues so try the method above and only copy over only what's missing if needed afterwards.****
*If you have assets missing after resubbing as above then copy the missing items by writing down their workshop numbers, then search your 255710 folder and copy them over to your new workshop folder.

Thanks for replying, but you do realize that it's been over a year, don't you?

Then I can skip the parts where it says unsubscribe all mods? Because I suppose I could do that... I only have ninety mods, and if I use Compatibility Report and then click on every mod so that it makes a new tab, I can sort-of easily unsubscribe...

Okay! ! I think I've got it.

You can still do it just skip the parts that don't apply to you.

I can't do part of this tutorial, because I deleted my save games when I was done playing a few months ago and now I'm stuck in a loop. (I made a topic about this in c:s discussions.

If I don't have a save, i can't re-subscribe and I've got a little over 7k assets with roughly 90+- mods.

Found out now that it's in the userGameState.cgs. copied that file back in its folder (in appdata/ColossalOrder/Cities_Skylines) and unlocked all my unique buildings back!
CyberVibes  [tekijä] 20.3.2023 klo 17.54
You'll need Game Anarchy mod for that.

Do you know which file I have to put back in which place to get back my unique building unlocks?
