Game Basics and Overview
Lunnye Devitsy is a casual exploration game. You play as a tiny alien ("The Moon Damsel") that falls off the moon. The goal is to explore a vast floating world and discover 6 unique ways to return to the moon at the top of the map.

Author's Note: The whole point of this game is to take your time, explore the world, and figure things out on your own. For maximum enjoyment, I advise only using this guide as a last resort if you get completely stuck.

Gameplay Basics

The game does not provide any instructions, instead leaving the player to deduce everything for themselves. While most of the basics are fairly easy to figure out, not everything may be obvious. The controls are as follows:
  • Movement: Move left and right using the arrow keys, or the left stick on the controller.
  • Jumping: Press the "A" key, or the "A" button on the controller, to jump. You can fine-tune your movement in the air after jumping. Once you have collected the "double-jump" power-up, you can press the button again in mid-air to extend your jump distance.
  • Running: Once you have collected the "run" power-up, press the "D" key, or the "X" button on the controller, to run. Running allows you to jump even higher and farther.
  • Swimming: While in water or lava, you can press the jump button indefinitely to swim higher. You cannot drown.
Note: The Xbox360 controller is automatically detected with no issues, and I recommend using it (especially for the tougher platforming bits towards the end of the game). I am not sure what, if any, other controllers are natively compatible.

Additional Notes and Tips
  • Context Actions: In certain situations, you will need to press the up arrow key, or up on the controller, to perform actions (e.g. entering the Postman's booth or cannons). This is not explained anywhere in the game, as far as I can tell.
  • Long Jumping: You can jump even farther and higher than normal by holding the run key/button when you jump. This works both vertically and for distance.
  • Advanced Jumping: A very important thing to remember is that jumps can be initiated after dropping off a platform. This means that you do not need to jump off a platform in order to jump again. You can walk or run off a surface and jump twice afterwards. This technique adds a certain level of additional finesse and strategy to jumping, which allows you to achieve impressive distances in certain areas. This technique is also required to fully complete the game.
  • Slopes: Some platforms have sharp slopes on them. You can't stand still on or run up these slopes, so you have to quickly jump on and off them in order to stay moving.
  • Immortality: You cannot die in this game, so feel free to explore without any worries. But what happens if you fall off the bottom of the map? Instead of dying, you will appear at the very top of the map (the "Pac-Man" effect) at the same location (horizontally-speaking) at which you dropped through. The implications of this technique should become clear if you think about it (hint, hint).
  • Hidden Areas: Not all walls and platforms are as they appear. When exploring, be sure to jump against walls and suspicious looking areas. In many places, you can find "secret" areas by passing through fake walls, floors or ceilings.
  • Enemies: In several areas, there are creatures on the ground that can push you away if you get too close. They aren't a threat at all, just a nuisance. To get by, simply jump over them.

Game Progression

When the game begins, the first thing you should do is collect the "run" and "double-jump" power-ups. After that, the entire map (with one exception) is open to explore. Your goal is to search the world and find 6 different ways to return to the moon at the top of the map. Doing so fills in one of the empty circles on the moon's face. You then start the process all over again. Once you've found 6 different ways to return to the moon, one final method is unlocked. Complete this challenge to finish the game.

Note: The various methods to return to the moon can be accomplished in any order. In the guide below, the solutions have been numbered 1 through 6, but this isn't meant to imply that it is necessary to complete them in that order.

Technical Notes
  • Fullscreen: Press the "F" key at any time to toggle the game between windowed and fullscreen mode.
  • Saving the Game: The game saves automatically whenever you get back to the moon or pick up an item.
  • Quitting the Game: To exit, hold the ESC key for a few seconds.
  • Deleting Saved Progress: Hold the DELETE and ENTER keys for 5 seconds. This will wipe your saved data so you can start over again.
World Map
One very cool thing the developers did was to include a map with the game. The map is located in the "Bonus" folder under the game's installation directory. While the map is not high resolution, it does a good job of showing an overview of the world for easy reference. Additionally, the map shows the locations of several important items that need to be collected.

Note and Disclaimer: This guide makes extensive use of the world map image provided with the game, both in its original (and modified) forms. I make no claim to be the author of the original image file, and hope that the developers do not mind its use as an information source for this guide.

For reference, the full unmodified world map appears below (click to enlarge). One important thing to note is that the vast majority of the game (the first 6 moon returns) only involve the left portion of the world, from the open area on the far left to the bottom of the mountainside about 2/3 of the way to the right. Exploring the far right part of the map before finding all 6 ways to return to the moon is not advised, as a gusting wind will keep you from accomplishing anything useful. It is best to ignore this entire area until the final part of the game opens up.

Collecting the Power-ups
The first thing you should do at the start of the game is collect the "run" and "double-jump" power-ups. It's hard to miss these if you explore long enough, but for completeness' sake, their locations are shown in the image below ("run" is at point "A", and "double-jump" is at point "B").

Moon Return #1: The Postman
This is the quickest and easiest way to return to the moon, and can be done within a minute or so of starting the game.

In the area directly below the moon (point "A" in the image below), there is a postbox. Every few minutes, the Postman's ship will arrive here. The Postman exits his ship, walks to the postbox, retrieves its contents, walks back to his ship, and blasts off for the moon. All you need to do is walk up to the postbox and press up to enter it. Wait for the postman to arrive and he will put you on his ship and blast off for the moon.

Note: It generally takes a few minutes for the Postman to arrive. However, if you are in the postbox, he will come much more quickly. This is a useful thing to remember later on.

Moon Return #2: The Rocket
To the left of the starting point, there is a guy (point "D" in the image below) who is missing the 3 pieces of his rocket. You just need to find the rocket pieces and return them to him (they are located at points "A", "B" and "C" in the image below). Once the rocket is complete, stand in front of it and press up to get on board and blast off to the moon.

Moon Return #3: The Springboard
Down towards the bottom of the inside of the mountain, there is a locked springboard (point "A" in the image below). Just walk to the left of there and you will find a switch that can be pressed down which will unlock the springboard. Head back over to the right and jump on it. You will be launched straight up into the air through a narrow passage. Once you emerge from the mountain, press left to steer yourself towards the moon. If you do it just right, you'll stick to the moon (point "B" in the image below).

Note: You have to hit the moon directly from the spring-jump alone (jumping to it after the spring-jump finishes won't count). If you mess up, just drop back down the narrow passageway and try again.

Moon Return #4: The Leap of Faith
Remember the tip back in the first part of this guide that involves falling off the bottom of the map? Do you also remember the advanced technique for jumping that involves falling off platforms first before starting your jumps? If not, then you may want to go back and refresh yourself, since this moon return trip requires both of these techniques, along with liberal use of long jumping.

Start by making your way to the left-most part of the map and jump off and down the edge of the world, guiding yourself rightward and downward step-by-step along the platforms that jut out from the left side of the mountain. Your first goal is to get to the bottom-most platform (just below point "A" in the image below). Once you've reached this platform, you'll need to perform a series of tricky platform jumps, making your way to the right. Your ultimate goal is the right-most platform in this area below the mountain (point "B" in the image below).

The tricky part is figuring out the proper combination of short jumps, long jumps, and platform drops to get through. At a couple of points, you will need to jump to a higher platform, then drop off and drift to the right before initiating your next series of jumps. It's not too hard, but may take a bit of trial-and-error and practice. The basic path is outlined in the image below (note: double jumps have not been indicated).

Once you reach the final platform, all you need to do is drop down off the bottom of the map (location indicated by the arrow in the image below). Dropping off at this position will cause you to appear at the very top of the map in the same place, right where the moon is.

Moon Return #5: The Loudspeaker
During your explorations, you may have come across a man standing next to a giant loudspeaker (or megaphone?) at the very top of the mountain on the right. There is also a switch there that looks like it should do something, but doesn't. The trick to this puzzle is taking a very strange and roundabout path to provide power to that switch first.

The first step is to call the Postman. As with the first moon return, go to the postbox near the starting point (point "A" in the image below) and enter it by pressing up. However, this time, when the Postman comes to pick you up, wait until he takes you out of the postbox and immediately jump to free yourself before you are loaded into the ship. If done correctly, you will have transformed into a "package". In package form, you are much heavier. This means your jump distance and maneuverability are dramatically decreased. The only way to revert to your original form is to destroy the package (lava does the trick).

The next step is to make your way, in "package" form, all the way to the bottom right corner of the lava cavern (point "B" in the image below). There you will find a switch that can only be depressed using the extra weight of the package. Pressing this switch will power-up the switch directly above it on the top of the mountain near the loudspeaker. Of course, the trick here is that you have to make your way there without falling into any lava, which will destroy the package. The path you need to take is shown in the image below. The key is to take your time and make tiny jumps to position yourself in the best places to make the longer/double-jumps necessary to cross the lava pits. If you make a mistake and lose the package, you will need to trek all the way back to the postbox and start all over again.

Once you have weighted down the switch at point "B", go ahead and touch some lava to destroy the package, as you don't need it anymore. Then, make your way up to the top of the mountain where the loudspeaker is (point "C" in the image below). Once there, you can step on the now powered-up switch to turn on the speaker. When active, the speaker emits noise and produces an air current that blows left and will enable you to jump even farther than usual. Activate the speaker and quickly move to the left, avoiding the enemies, and make your way to the left-most platform (point "D" in the image below). From there, take a running jump off and double jump (with the aid of the speaker's air current) into the moon. Just make sure to act quickly, as the speaker will turn off after a short period of time. If you run out of time, just return to point "C" and reactivate the switch.

Moon Return #6: The Moon Pieces
To the left of the starting point, just up the hill from the Rocket Ship guy, there is another guy (point "A" in the image below), who is looking for a set of 12 crescent moons. Your first task is to collect all of those moons. This can take some time, as it requires you to fully explore most of the map. On the bright side, this quest can easily be worked on in bits and pieces as you explore and work on other tasks. The locations of all 12 moon pieces are shown in the image below.

After you've collected all of the moons, return to the guy at point "A". There will now be a cannon there. In fact, several cannons in various locations across the whole map will now be available to use. However, we are only interested in 3 of them for this particular quest (points "A", "B" and "C" in the image below). The goal is to fire yourself into the moon from the cannon at point "C". To use a cannon, step in front of it and press up to enter it. You can then adjust the firing angle using the left/right buttons and fire by pressing the jump button. Make your way from cannon to cannon by adjusting the trajectories as shown in the image below. From the final cannon, you'll want to shoot at almost a 90 degree angle to hit the moon.

Final Moon Return: The Coins
Once you have found all 6 ways to return to the moon, a 7th (and final) method is unlocked. The far-right area of the map that was previously blocked by gusting winds becomes accessible, and a series of coins (72, by my count) appears throughout the world. Your goal is to collect each one of those coins and return them to a "monster" in the lava area (point "A" in the image below). You can also check your remaining coin count by visiting this location. The map below shows the entire world and the location of each coin (click for a larger version).

Even without a map, for the most part, finding the coins is a simple process. Every few seconds, each uncollected coin emits a "ping" in the form of a colorful circle that radiates outward from the coin. If you are close enough to a coin, you can hear and see these pings and easily determine where any remaining coins are.

Where the challenge comes is in the newly unlocked area on the far right side of the map. This section is divided into 5 general areas: 4 vertical "columns" (labeled as Areas 1 through 4 in the image below) that feature stiff platforming challenges, and an underground maze. Refer to the image below for a closer view of this area, then read on for more details on each of the challenges that lie within.

Note: Refer back to the first section of this guide if you need a refresher on any of the techniques required to complete the platforming sections below.

Getting the Final Coins

Area 1 and the Underground Maze: Although the maze can be accessed from the start, there are 2 coins that can't be collected until the area has been flooded. To do this, you need to make your way to the topmost platform in Area 1. Start by climbing into the cannon at point "A" and aim it slightly to the right so that you bounce off the wall and fall to the lower right platform (point "B"). Enter the cannon on this platform and aim it slightly left to launch yourself to the top platform (point "C"). Once there, collect the coin and jump repeatedly on top of the large stone block that is hanging from the platform. The block will drop down and create a hole above the maze, flooding it with water. You will then be able to collect the last 2 coins in that area.

Area 2: This is the first in a series of 3 progressively more difficult challenges. Start at the bottom of this vertical column and make your way upwards, utilizing high jumps (hold the "run" button when jumping). Precision in your landing points is critical, as there is very little room for error. You need to climb up by jumping on the sloped side of each platform. You can't stand still on or run up steep slopes, so you need to be very quick and never stop jumping. Try to make your big jumps off the top-most points of each platform. Also remember that you can run off a platform first to get some extra horizontal distance before initiating your jump sequence.

Area 3: This is the most challenging pure-platforming section of the game. Make your way into the main area above the initial floating blocks. There is a cannon in here. Enter the cannon and shoot yourself just slightly to the left. You will hit the ceiling and drop down. As you are falling, double jump onto the small ledge on the left wall. From here, you just need to follow the path shown in the image above, using all of the advanced jumping techniques at your disposal. The key to most of the jumps here is to begin by running off the platform before initiating your jump sequence.

Area 4: Although not particularly challenging from a pure-platforming perspective, this is easily the most annoying section of the whole game. Start by making your way up to the small ledge on the left wall just below the large black point labeled "D" (note that several of the platforms on the way up are "fake" and can't be jumped on). From the small ledge, make a long running double jump to the right, up and into the bottom of that large black area. You should end up inside of it. Here is where the frustration and challenge comes in. The inside of this large dark area is a maze, and you can't see where you are. With no choice but brute force trial-and-error, and some luck, your task is to make it up through this maze and out the top side.

But that's what guides are for, right? :)

Yes, I am happy to report that there is now a visual guide for getting through this area. The image file to the left was made by Steam user Kosmo, and given to me for use in this guide (annotations in yellow were added by me). The map may not be exactly 100% perfect, but I have confirmed that it is pretty damn close. A huge shout-out and thanks to Kosmo for this!!

There are two key points to note. First, you need to jump out of the right side of the maze and then up and back into it twice. And finally, to make the final jump up and out of the maze, make sure to stand on the small ledge just above the final pit near the top.

Once you have made it through the maze, the rest of the area is simple. Just jump up to the coin via the platforms (note: some of the platforms are "fake", so be careful and test each one before going for it fully).

Complete the Game

Once you've collected all the coins, return to the monster in the lava cave. He'll pick you up and drop you on the moon - congratulations, you've finished Lunnye Devitsy!

Closing Comments
This was a fun guide to make because the game was a fun one to play. I enjoyed it a lot, and want to thank the developers for making it (and hopefully they are cool with me using their map as source material for the guide images).

Also, if anyone knows of anything else that should be included in this guide, please let me know. I only discovered 7 ways of returning to the moon, but could there possibly be more? I don't think so, but you never know!

And finally, if this guide helped you at all, or you enjoyed reading it, please remember to rate it up. Thanks!

I recorded a video based in this guide, to get that last coin in the Final Moon topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAvOZ1qIJcA

I hope it helps for something since there're almost no videos about how to get that coin...

I'm not sure, then... maybe it's a bug? Sorry, don't know what else to suggest. I guess just double check all the other moon locations on the map. Good luck!
