Serious Sam 2 - Stutter Fix
By Narsuaq
This is a very short guide that I have put together which should hopefully help you fix the common problem in which Serious Sam 2 tends to have. This is of course the very noticeable stuttering which largely occurs when using your mouse to look around, especially when looking up at the sky. Please note, it may not work for you as everyone's computer is different. Also, I'm not saying this will happen, but if your computer catches fire, or blows up, that totally isn't my fault. Jokes, it really won't. ;)

Introduction
So yeah, we all get problems with older games, and Serious Sam 2 seems to be no exeption, especially on newer systems. Below are a couple of fixes I have tried and has seemed to have fixed it more or less completely. Just take a note, I made this guide with very specific instructions, so those are obviously for people who do not know what any of these computer terms mean. If you happen to be knowledgeable when it comes to computers, then you can simply just get straight to fixing it without looking at the necessary steps. I promise I won't take offense! ^_^
Method 1 - Vsync
This is actually the method that fixed it for me, which I was suprised to see. Turning off Vsync actually removed the stuttering completely, though this was used in conjuction with Method 2, which you can read below.

Now, Vsync can be turned on/off in two locations (at least in my case). The first one is in the game settings itself. Here, I will show you how to do that for those who really don't understand what I'm talking about. All you gotta do is follow the instructions and pretty pictures.

Step 1. Launch Game. (Duh!)

Step 2. Now you're in the menu, you're obviously gonna want to click on "Options".

Step 3. Click on "Video Options".

Step 4. Click "Advanced Video Options". Pretty straight forward so far, right?

Step 5. Now what you wanna do is scroll to the bottom until you come across an option called "WAIT V SYNCS". You need to set that to "NO" as seen in the image.

============================================================================

Now, that's how you turn off Vsync within the game. If it is already set to "NO", then you probably have it turned on in your Graphics Card Control Panel. If you have an Nvidia card, then this is how you do it.

Step 1. Right click on your desktop and click on "NVIDIA Control Panel".

Step 2. Now you're in the Control Panel, you want to manage 3D settings. It usually comes up right away. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see "Verticle Sync". Just like before, you can turn this off.

============================================================================

Sorry AMD Users, I'm sure you can figure it out from the pictures above. It should be roughly similar. ;)

Method 2 - Multi-Cores
This is the other method I use along with turning off Vsync and it's just as simple. This one is only needed if you have multiple cores in your CPU. From what I've learnt online, older games don't like to work on multiple cores, but of course this is not always the case. This method however, has proven useful as many people on the Serious Sam forums confirmed it to be good at removing the stutter issues.

So, here we go!

Step 1. Like before, launch the game!

Step 2. Minimise the game, and open Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc). Looking at the tabs at the top, you should click on "Processes" Once you've done that, you should find a process called "SAM2.exe *32". For your convenience, I highlighted it by blurring out the unnecessary processes. ^_^

Step 3. You need to Right-Click that process and click on "Set Affinity..."

Step 4. You should see something similar to the image below, but with all your cores ticked. What you should do is remove all cores but one, so the game only runs on that core. It doesn't matter which one.

Step 5. Now all you do is click "OK" and have fun!
Conslusion
Now, in my case, I tried a bunch of things to get the stuttering to stop. This ranged from lowering the graphics and resolution to finding external programs to fix it and nothing seemed to help. I tried these methods in a variety of different combinations with all sorts of settings that I altered within the game.

With just using Method One, I found it did fix it, but there was still some stuttering in a few places. I'd probably say it was around 85% stutter free.
Using Method Two I found no visible improvement what so ever, but many people reported it's very effective.
Using both methods together completely fixed it, so I recommend using them both, but of course try them one at a time first.

==============================================================================

If you happen to know any other methods which have been reported to work, let me know and I'll investigate it online and add it to this guide. I hope it helps!

It helped me a lot, thanx.
(I've tried to enable the "Hdr-Rendering" and the game runs fluid/without slowing down. Maybe the only incriminated parameter is the "Wait V-Syncs").
