Mob of the Dead Step by Step Walkthrough

This is a step by step solo walkthrough for obtaining all inventory parts in Mob of the Dead. It also describes how to build the plane, the zombie shield and Acid Gat Kit. It also explains where the mystery box and perk machine locations are. I have attempted to describe a very efficient order of doing things. It includes how to obtain the Hell's Retriever (but not Redeemer). It does not include the Easter Egg solutions. It also does not explain how to 'make' a Blundergat Shotgun or the Golden Spork. There are over 100 steps and over 100 screenshots in this guide. It took me roughly 20 hours to create it. Please rate, favorite and share.

Get Briefcase 1st Acid Gat Part
In AFTERLIFE: power up the gauge through the blue opening.

Revive yourself.

Buy the M14 off the wall.

Wait until the first zombie climbs in then get the 2X bonus in the jail cell.

To maximize initial score, switch to your pistol and shoot 4 shots into the zombie’s body (not head) then melee. After round 1 you should have at least 2000 points.

Look through the following door and if the BRIEFCASE part for the ACID GAT KIT is on the cart then buy this door and grab the BRIEFCASE. This is the 1st of 3 possible locations.

If not, buy the door next to the M14 and go out and up the stairs. Note: buying either of these first doors opens both at the same time for the price of one.

Get Warden's Key
Look for the WARDEN’S KEY on the left as you enter the next area, it will be hanging from the ceiling above (currently unreachable). There are 2 locations for the key so if it is not there then it is hanging outside of the WARDEN’S OFFICE area. We will get there later.
The BRIEFCASE part for the ACID GAT KIT might be on the floor opposite the AFTERLIFE box. If it is there, pick it up. This is the 2nd of 3 possible locations.

Go into the AFTERLIFE using the red box on the wall.

If key is here, jump up through the blue portal and zap the panel there to disable it, this will lower the key (sometimes you have to try the jump a few times to get in). In the screenshot below, notice the afterlife symbol near the bottom. That is your afterlife energy bar. It will drain while you are in the afterlife. That is how much time you have before you really die. You must revive yourself before that timer runs out.

If you are quick enough, also go through the lower blue portal opposite the key and run down a narrow hallway. Do two jumps until you get to the end, turn around, do one forward jump to get to a higher level, then run to the end of that hallway. Zap the power gauge there. This opens the stairway downstairs to the LAUNDRY area. Quickly run back the way you came from.

OPTIONAL: If you are really fast at this, you may have time to make a left and left again and there is another power gauge that opens a jail cell there for a bonus magic item.

Run back and revive yourself.

The key has been lowered enough for you to get it now. Pick it up.

Go back to the starting area and go back through the LIBRARY door and up the ramp one level.

Make your first right and open the gate to enter the area that’s called BROADWAY.
Feed 1st Wolf
FEED WOLF 1 of 3: Make a right and notice the WOLF outline on the wall. Killing a zombie near it will call the WOLF’S HEAD out. Keep killing zombies here until the WOLF’S HEAD goes away. The WOLF can only eat one a time so try not to kill all the zombies at once if you can. When you are done, the WOLF outline on the wall changes to a glowing, flaming version.

If you did not get the BRIEFCASE earlier, then it is at the 3rd and final location. Go to the opposite hallway from where you came in from to get to the MICHIGAN side. It will be under the stairs on the lower level.

Access the Warden's Office
Now go back in the direction the bottom of the stairs were leading you to the end of that hallway. This is the 2nd of 2 possible locations of the WARDEN’S KEY.

Turn around to notice the AFTERLIFE box on the wall. Use it to enter the AFTERLIFE.

Jump up into the blue portal above and zap the panel there. This lowers the key.

While you are up there run to the end of that hallway and you’ll notice another blue portal on the left. Go through that and make a left.

At the end of that hallway there will be another power gauge on the left wall. Zap it. It will open the gate to the WARDEN’S OFFICE area.

Go back the way you came and drop down to where your body is. While still in the AFTERLIFE, turn around and enter the WARDEN’S OFFICE area. Run to the end, make a left, go all the way through and left again. You should see the SPEED COLA machine (Perks are always in the same location in Mob of the Dead) with a power gauge next to it. Zap the gauge. Run back to your body.

OPTIONAL: If you still have time while in the AFTERLIFE, run all the way down the whole MICHIGAN hallway to the end and you will see a power gauge there that opens a jail cell with a magic bonus in it. Run back to your body.

Revive yourself. Pick up the WARDEN'S KEY if needed (after you are alive).

Get 2nd Acid Gat Part
Re-enter the WARDEN’S OFFICE. You’ll notice that there is an electrified door here that will kill you. Leave it alone for now. There is a plane part in there that you cannot get yet.

The 2nd part to the ACID GAT KIT is in one of these three rooms in a corner on the floor. Pick it up.

The screenshot below shows a picture of a stool which you cannot pick up. That is just the potential location.

The final potential location for the 2nd acid gat part.

In the middle room is 1 of 5 potential locations of the MYSTERY BOX. If it is there, you will see it with flames on the bottom of it. If it is NOT there, you just see a brown rectangle platform on the floor.

If the MYSTERY BOX is here you will want to stay here until you buy at least one good gun. If you get the BLUNDERGAT shotgun, keep it. If the MYSTERY BOX is not here, you may want to buy the UZI on the wall here, but it has a small magazine and takes forever to reload without SPEED perk.

Use Gondola
Leave the WARDEN’S OFFICE area and go back down MICHIGAN hallway until the staircase. Go up the stairs and back through BROADWAY to C-D STREET.

This time go up the stairs to the third floor and buy the door there.

Go through upper BROADWAY and notice the AFTERLIFE box on the right. Use it to enter the AFTERLIFE.

Turn around and zap the gauge for the CHERRY COLA machine.

Turn around run pass your body, go to the end of the hallway and zap the power gauge for the gondola.

Return to your body and revive yourself.

Take the GONDOLA down to the docks.

Exit the GONDOLA follow the path around and make the first left you can down stairs. At the bottom of the stairs you will be forced to make a right.

When facing the wall, turn left.

The M1914 (Tommy Gun) is on the wall straight ahead. Buy it if it's better than what you have.

Continue along then unlock the door (fence) on the right.

Use the AFTERLIFE box in there and zap the gauge there. You’ll notice the inner door (fence) open so you can access the GAS TANK part which is Part 1 of 5 plane parts.

Still in AFTERLIFE mode, run back the way you came from, back up the long stairs and make a left, go to the end and make a right, then notice a gauge next to the JUGGERNOG machine. Zap the gauge.

Run back down the stairs to your body and revive yourself.
Get Gas Tank 1st Plane Part
Pick up the GAS TANK. You can pick up all ZOMBIE SHIELD and ACID GAT parts at the same time but you can only pick up one plane part at once.

Get Dolly 1st Shield Part
Come out and make a right to continue to the end of the dock. The 2nd of 5 MYSTERY BOX locations is here. Save your money for JUGGERNOG before spending too much on the box.

In this area is the DOLLY part for the ZOMBIE SHIELD. All 3 locations are here and it is easy to find.
Feed 2nd Wolf
Take the main path back but instead of going up the big stairs continue straight ahead. Against the wall on the left is the 2nd of 3 WOLF HEADS. Same as before kill zombies here until the WOLF’S HEAD is gone.

You will notice a table at the end of this path. This is 1 of 3 BUILD TABLES that can be used to build the ZOMBIE SHIELD OR the ACID GAT KIT. Ignore this table for now.

Buy Juggernog
Now you’ll have at least 2500 points to buy JUGGERNOG if you haven’t already done so.
Unlock Guard Room
Open the door right there and enter this room.

Use the AFTERLIFE box right in front of you. You will need to zap a total of 3 power panels that look like the one you zapped for the WARDEN’S KEY.

Two of them are in this room and the 3rd one is through a blue portal in the back wall of the room that reveals a hidden area. Go in there, make a left to see the 3rd power panel. Doing this disables the electric door guarding that room in the WARDEN’S OFFICE area.

Revive yourself.
Get 2nd Shield Part
In this room is the 2nd of 3 parts for the ZOMBIE SHIELD – the VICE GRIP. It is in 1 of 3 locations all in this room, easy to find.

Get Cell Door 3rd Shield Part
Buy one of the gates at the back of this room and go through to the hallway.

The CELL DOOR part for the ZOMBIE SHIELD is in 1 of 3 locations close to here. The 1st location is at the left end of this hallway in the corner.

Enter the CITADEL TUNNELS.

At the end of this hallway take the right path, go through the doorway but immediately turn around to your left. This is the 2nd of 3 locations for the CELL DOOR part.


If you followed this hallway to the end it will be a dead end. You will come back here later.
Exit the hallway and make a right, go up the stairs, and open the next door.

As soon as you walk through there is a cabinet on the right with 3 numbers in it that is locked.
Unlock it. Ignore these numbers for now.

If you do not have the CELL DOOR part yet, it is in the final location. Follow the big ramp up until you see it leaning against one of the right walls that is facing you. Pick it up.

Buy Cherry Perk
Turn around and run all the way back to the gondola. Use it to take it back up to the prison. Go down the hallway to BROADWAY and make a right. Buy the CHERRY perk. It electrifies all zombies near you when you reload.
Get 3rd Acid Gat Part
Just beyond the CHERRY perk machine on its left side is the 2nd of 3 BUILD TABLES. Ignore this for now.

Keep taking this path to the end and make a right. Take this around until you see a door. Open the door and make a right, then another right.

You should now be in the INFIRMARY where you can only go left. The GREEN VIAL part of the ACID GAT KIT is either in the INFIRMARY or bathroom across the hall. Pick it up.


The 3rd location of the GREEN VIAL is across the hall in what looks to be a multi-person bathroom.

The 3rd of 5 MYSTERY BOX locations is in the INFIRMARY.


Feed 3rd Wolf
Go to the middle room between the showers and Infirmary. You should see the 3rd and final WOLF’S HEAD on the wall. Once again, kill zombies here until it is gone. Once all 3 WOLF’S HEADS are done, it will unlock a hidden room somewhere else in the map where you can pick up the HELL’S RETRIEVER (tomahawk). More details about this soon.

Start Building Plane
Use the AFTERLIFE box here to go into the AFTERLIFE.

Turn around, go back through the doorway into this room and make a right, then keep going until you see a blue portal on the right. Enter there and you will see a blue arrow aiming right and up. Turn to your right and do a double jump to climb up onto the ROOF.

Once on the ROOF, make a left and continue straight until you see a power gauge to the right of a door. Zap the gauge and the door will open.

Head down the stairs into the room below. Zap the gauge next to the DEADSHOT DAIQUIRI machine.

Revive yourself. Buy DEADSHOT DAIQUIRI only if you prefer it to DOUBLE TAP.

Now go back up to the roof while you are alive. Go straight ahead to the back of the runway and build the first part of the plane there.

Go back downstairs and enter the WOLF’S HEAD room. Turn to your left and unlock the cabinet that is glowing green. Grab the 2nd of 5 PLANE PARTS.

Go back to the ROOF and build the 2nd PLANE PART.
Build Zombie Shield
Go back downstairs and enter the WOLF’S HEAD room. This time go straight through to the end and make a right. Go down the stairs and open the door to the CAFETERIA.

Go through door and make a left and left again. This is the 4th of 5 locations of the MYSTERY BOX.

Go around to the back, right corner of the CAFETERIA. There is the 3rd of 3 BUILD TABLES. Build the ZOMBIE SHIELD here and pick one up.

Get Hell's Retriever
Leave the CAFETERIA by buying the main cell door back to the starting area.

Make a left, go to the wall and make a left U-turn to go down the stairs to the SHOWERS area.

Run straight and unlock the door gate that leads to the LAUNDRY machine. Ignore machine for now.

Keep following this path around until you see a door on the right. Unlock the door and enter the CITADEL TUNNELS.

Go straight to the end of this hall and you should now have access to the HELL’S RETRIEVER. Pick it up. It is thrown with your secondary grenade key. If you hold down the key for a few seconds before letting it go, it will charge up the axe for more damage. You will see red rings appearing around your feet when it is charging. It can do two extra charges. At this stage, it is a one-hit kill and will chain kill more than one zombie at a time. It will come back to you after a second or two. It will then take a few seconds to “recharge” or “cool down” before you can use it again.


Also, this area has the 5th and final location of the MYSTERY BOX.

Get Laundry Plane Part
Go back to the LAUNDRY room. Make a right to go to the other side of the LAUNDRY room. Use the AFTERLIFE box there to enter the AFTERLIFE.

Go where the LAUNDRY MACHINE is, look on the opposite wall and zap the power gauge there. This gives power to the LAUNDRY MACHINE but does not start it.

Make a right and go through the same door you went through for the HELL’S RETRIEVER. At the hidden room make a left and go all the way through then make a right. You should see the DOUBLE TAP machine with a power gauge next to it. Zap the power gauge.

Run back to the LAUNDRY area and revive yourself. Prepare for a fight. Go and start the LAUNDRY MACHINE.

All doors to the LAUNDRY ROOM will be blocked by fire when the LAUNDRY MACHINE is running. Usually more zombies come and sometimes the boss. If the boss comes, keep giving him headshots.

After the LAUNDRY MACHINE is finished, go back to it and take the CLOTHES from the LAUNDRY MACHINE. This is the 3rd of 5 PLANE PARTS.

Go back up the stairs, make two right turns, enter the CAFETERIA, make a left through the doorway, up the stairs, make a left, pass the WOLF’S HEAD, back to the ROOF and add the part to the PLANE.
Build Acid Gat Kit
Go back down, pass the WOLF’S HEAD, go to the end and this time make a LEFT.

This leads to the path that takes you back to the 2nd of 3 BUILD TABLES.
Build the ACID GAT KIT here. You cannot use this now unless you were lucky enough to get the BLUNDERGAT shotgun from the box already. If you have the BLUNDERGAT, use it on the kit. This will upgrade it to the ACID GAT shotgun. You’ll eventually want to PACK-A-PUNCH it. When you do it will become the wonder weapon: VITRIOLIC WITHERING.

Get Warden's Plane Part
Continue and make a left towards MICHIGAN and drop down in the MICHIGAN hallway. Go to the end of the hall and into the WARDEN’S OFFICE area and now you can safely open the electric door. Grab the 4th of 5 plane parts.



Buy Speed Perk
Go in the last room of the WARDEN’S OFFICE and buy the SPEED COLA.

Buy Double Tap Perk
Go out of the WARDEN'S OFFICE area, make a right and go down the stairs. Buy the door. Go through the room and you will see the DOUBLE TAP machine. Buy it as your 4th perk if you did not buy DEADSHOT DAIQUIRI. You should now have all 4 of your perks: JUG, CHERRY, SPEED and either DEADSHOT DAIQUIRI or DOUBLE TAP)

Take the plane part to the ROOF and build it. You now can get there by either going through the TUNNELS / SHOWERS or back up all the stairways through BROADWAY / behind CHERRY or through CAFETERIA.
Get & Build Final Plane Part
Go back to the end of MICHIGAN hallway. But instead of going into the WARDEN'S OFFICE area, make a left, go down the stairs and pass the DOUBLE TAP machine. Keep going and half way down this hallway make a left U-turn to open a door gate there.

Go down the stairs that leads to the top of a spiral ramp. Notice straight ahead is the last PLANE PART in an elevator you currently cannot access.

Use the AFTERLIFE box there to enter the AFTERLIFE. In the AFTERLIFE, run all the way down the ramp. As you are running down the ramp, the left dividing walls will reveal three single digits; remember what they are because they are different with every new game.



When you reach the number panel with the three zeros at the bottom you must zap each number the same number of times that were revealed to you by the hidden digits. This will trigger the elevator to lower.

Quickly run all the way back up to the top of the ramp and revive yourself. Quickly run all the way back down the ramp now that you are alive and pass through the door there. You may notice that the digits are doing a countdown. That is how much time you have before the elevator will go back up again, making the PLANE PART unreachable again. The code can be re-entered if you do not do it the first time.

Go through, down the stairs and make a left. Go down the narrow hallway, open the elevator, and take the last of 5 PLANE PARTS.

Head up to the roof and build the last part on the PLANE. Do not 'use' the PLANE until you have enough money to PACK-A-PUNCH at least one gun.

I recommend camping in the CAFETERIA below until you have lots of points. You may also want to spam the mystery box until you get the BLUNDERGAT shotgun.

If you get the BLUNDERGAT, use it on the Acid Gat Kit table behind the CHERRY machine. It becomes the ACID GAT.


Use Plane, Then PACK-A-PUNCH
When you are ready, head up to the roof and ‘use’ the PLANE.

You will drop down onto the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE. Quickly PACK-A-PUNCH both your guns. And if you PACK-A-PUNCH the ACID GAT, it turns into the VITRIOLIC WITHERING.

Have fun with end game HELL’S RETRIEVER kills, head shotting bosses and racking up points. One problem: only bosses drop any magic items so you will eventually run out of ammo if you stay here too long.

When you are ready to leave run over to the ELECTRIC CHAIRS and use one of them. You will be teleported back to the starting area in the AFTERLIFE and have to revive yourself again.

To use the PLANE again back to the BRIDGE and PACK-A-PUNCH, you will have to refuel the PLANE. You must collect 5 FUEL CANS in roughly the same locations you got the PLANE PARTS: DOCKS, LAUNDRY, WARDEN’S OFFICE, BOTTOM OF BIG RAMP, and ROOM BEFORE THE ROOF.

you may want to open the door to the roof first so you have an escape route if things get ugly, then clear and return to the infirmary
