The CHP occasionally engages in hot pursuits across the state. Most of the time, it's valuable to have an eye in the sky. An aerial vantage point helps identify potential roadblock sites, safe areas to conduct PIT maneuvers, and of course, once in a while, help test vehicle speeds and relay it to a ground unit or assist in a mountain rescue.

Also, yes, really, the CHP helicopter in real life is not black and white. It is blue with gold striping.
