Absolute Dingus Racing Guide - or how to ruin everyone's day and have fun in the process
By pingas
The title says it all - this isn't about clean racing or good times. It's all about being the absolute subhuman trash on the track and getting away with it.

Introduction.
WARNING: NO ONE EXPECTS OR WANTS YOU TO ACTUALLY DO THIS IN EVERY RACE YOU'RE IN.
DON'T BE THAT GUY WHO CAN'T RECOGNIZE SARCASM.
FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.

So, you've finally got your balls together and decided to go into the multiplayer, but find yourself in a weird position where you're racing, but there isn't much actual body blowing fun going on because... people are being polite to each other. We've all been there, especially if you're a person like me who spent hundreds of hours in original FlatOut constantly running into Latvala wannabees.

This guide is here to help you make them less polite and potentially turn a boring clean track day into an absolute mayhem worthy of the game's name.
Basics: getting around the track
First and foremost: stick to the inner side of a turn.
In most cases it'll probably slow you down somewhat, but no one expects you to be in first if you're reading this guide. Your function here is twofold - possibly overtaking whoever is on the outside as well as making yourself harder to pass. Bonus points for a wide exit and cutting off your opponents.

Second: your throttle is your best friend.
Brakes are for track day enthusiasts who buy used Miatas and spend their entire paychecks on new tyres.
Unless you're on a tarmac circuit - 99% of turns can be done by simply tossing your car around in a powerslide. It takes some practice to do and some degree of skill to actually control it, but it looks flashy and a lot of times actually saves you time.
The only exceptions are aforementioned tarmac circuits and extremely hard turns. Use handbrake if necessary, especially useful in FWD cars.

Third: jumps and obstacles.
It's a bit of a complicated one, but listen closely - it's generally a good idea to avoid lifting your wheels off the ground.
Do not go for a jump while steering, avoid jumping at an angle, do not go for jumps while in collision with someone else. You'll lose control and likely get spun out which might just result in you getting chucked out of the traffic and leave you alone and bored on the track.
Additionally, avoid colliding with props and walls whenever possible, it potentially damages your vehicle as well as costing you time and speed.
Opponents: how to be a roadblock
The meat of the fun - and what will make you look like an absolute, irredeemable human trash on the track.

First: this is banger racing. You don't just trade paint. You trade parts.
Slamming into someone's side is just common courtesy. It's like shaking hands when meeting someone, really.
If you see a t-bone, rear-ender or a head-on opportunity in a race - go for it. Make their day brighter with some flying metal shrapnel.
If the track isn't littered with parts by third lap - you're doing something wrong.

Second: you're in it entirely for yourself.
Do not move aside.
Do not give room.
If someone tries to pass you - cut them off.
If someone is actually passing you - PIT maneuver them.
Bite into the position you've got for yourself and never let go.

Third: your opponents are your own tools.
Divebomb someone in a tight turn for easier turn-in procedure. Or just slide into someone's side to regain control.
PIT maneuver someone when exiting a turn, create a roadblock.
Rearend in front of a turn to both launch the opponent out of said turn and avoid having to brake hard.
Treat them as moving objects, not other racers.

Fourth: if you're taken out - make a nuisance of yourself.
Take your sweet time turning around from being spun out, collect as many head-ons as possible.
Don't just come back onto the track if you've been knocked off of it, do it into someone else at the straightest angle possible.
If you're being lapped - become a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ roadblock for the leader. Make sure to give 2nd and 3rd places time to catch up to him/her.
Put some elbow grease into making sure that you're taking them with you.
Others: adding some spice
If you're still reading, here's a bunch of things to consider on top:

  • Your car is your weapon. Pick something fast and heavy.
  • Garish paintjob makes you stand out visually. Assault your foes visually as well.
  • Downclassing extremely heavy-hitting cars is an option for rare cases when someone wants a low-class race. Don't let them off that easy.
  • Upclassing superlight vehicles is an option as well since they gain enormous acceleration and ability to turn on a dime. Usually into someone's rear wheel for a PIT maneuver only to blitz away in next half a second.
  • If you somehow climbed to the first position - forget everything and start hotlapping like you're playing rFactor as long as there's no one in your direct sight. Make sure that this(possibly accidental) position stays in your hands.
  • Drive the point home. Never give up. As mentioned before, fight even if you're in last position.
Closing word.
If you somehow found yourself looking at this guide and reading all the way to the end - congratulations.
You just stared into the abyss and the only thing left for you is to hope that the abyss doesn't stare back.

While this guide is entirely sarcastic and showcases how to be a really bad driver, it still has useful advice in it if you're willing to read between the lines.

Thanks for reading and, please, be at least somewhat polite to each other on the track.

Aaaaah... the beauty of a clean race when every single function can lead to a perfect mess. Loving it !

But I also love a perfect havoc of ass wooping from time to time.
