Overview

In AVA, aside from the normal PVP mode where players are competing against each other, there's also Co-op mode where up to 4 players (or in Prison Break - Rescue Easy Mode: 5 players) have to work together to survive/finish an objective while being relentlessly attack by NRF Fugitives who have been infected by a biochemical agent.

Generally, teamwork is required to finish any co-op game, otherwise you and your teammates will be eventually overrun by the NRF fugitives onslaught.

Please note that this is the guide for Prison Break and Battle Gear mode. It is not AI Demolition mode.
So what do I need to know before playing a co-op game?
Often time, I've seen many new players who have no idea what to do and just running around shoot every prisoners they see and eventually get killed by them. Or, they don't know about the goal that the host stated and end up getting kicked later on.

  • 1st, read the room name before you join any of them. If they state something like "3 BOX THEN DIE" or something like that, it means that you only pick up 3 box then suicide instantly. I'll tell you about the box reward system later.

  • Try to rank up to Staff Sergeant at least to reduce the chance of getting kicked. Since most people will assume that any players with rank lower than that are clueless, they won't take their chance and just boot you outright. For Extreme gamemode, you usually need to be Master Sergeant to stay ingame.
  • Remember, objective based co-op gamemode is extremely hard. Unless you're playing with your friends or someone who know what they need to do, chances are you better off find another room or friends to play with.
  • Normally I'd say to have fun in co-op mode, most people only play co-op mode for rewards only. If you only want to have fun, you better gather your friends. Beside, it'll eventually get repetitive and boring soon.
Who do I fight against?
You'll fight against mutated crazy NRF prisoners or Robots if you play BattleGear. Most of them are only capable of using melee attacks and their speed are slow enough for you to outrun them most of the time. However, there will be special type of prisoners that either has higher speed, health or deal more melee damage compare to the common one.

There are also boss enemies that will appear in certain time. They're tougher than any other prisoners and possess weapons that can deal devastate damage to you if you're not careful.

Since the enemies you're fighting against are computer controlled, keep in mind that what works on normal human players might not work against the AI controlled NRF, and the same can be said in both ways. There are plenty ways to exploit the simple nature of AI enemies to survive longer:
  • When spawned, the prisoner will acquire and attack the one closest to them.
  • The enemies will just run straight to you if they see you. They'll ignore your other teammates if they're going for you (unless they're blocked long enough) and any obstacles. Use this to your advantage and lure the prisoners to reduce the amount of prisoners each person have to deal with. Heck, one time in Survival mode I was playing around and standing on the crowd of prisoner that is being lured by a player on the truck and it looked like I was really fitting there as well.
  • If the prisoner lost sight of you, they'll use their pre-programmed pathways to navigate to you. Unfortunately (or fortunately for us), their pathway is quite... poor, meaning you can easily lost them by simply hiding. Of course, if all of your teammates are dead then it's just a matter of time before they are all swarming at you since it's impossible to hide indefinitely from AI controlled enemies.
  • A prisoner will automatically switch to other nearby human player if they lost sight of their original target.
  • If the prisoner bumps into someone or something, or getting shot at, they might back away from you or strafing around. This might be the programmed behavior so they can avoid gunshots or blocking each others.
  • Prisoners will try to hit you through thin surface if you and they are close enough. Quite funny to see them trying to hit you to no effect.

These are the behavior of AI controlled enemies that I've noticed. Of course, some of them might not be fully correct since I'm not an AI Programmer afterall.
Classes and Weapons
Classes

In AVA, you can choose between 3 classes to use: Pointman, Rifleman and Sniper.

Pointman

The Pointman is everyone's choice in all Co-op game. They have high mobility which allows them to outrun any fugitives and get out of sticky situation where other class would have harder time to do. They also equipped with SMGs and Shotguns which allows them to dispatch plenty of fugitives on the move without any problem. Since common fugitives have lower HP than the player, the low damage from SMGs are negated, thus they're even more effective in Co-op mode.

Rifleman

The Rifleman, while not having the mobility and high ammo capacity gun of the Pointman, can deal rather high damage at range or against powerful fugitives. Their rifles are able to kill common fugitives in a single shot to the body initially and a headshot to many other type of fugitives usually finish them off. If they're covered by other Pointman, the Rifleman can maintain high damage output to prisoners at far range where the Pointman aren't capable of killing them.

Sniper

The Sniper, while extremely dangerous in normal PVP mode, is not really useful in Co-op mode. While their sniper rifle can deal extremely high damage, they fire extremely slow, leaving them vulnerable to a mob of fugitives coming after them. Their low mobility with sniper rifle also leaving them incapable of outrun any fugitive caught in melee range without the use of sprinting. Thus, Snipers are only used in certain objective mode where you need to deal high amount of damage to kill/destroy something, otherwise it's better to play as Pointman or Rifleman.

Note: Disregard everything I said about Sniper if you have Mag B and can use sniper with fast quickswitch rate like DSR or M40A2.

Weapons

There's nothing much to say about which weapon to use. It's best to use any weapon that have high ammo-capacity, easy-to-control recoil (especially while moving since you'll be on constant move to avoid melee attacks) and fast reload speed.

  • Pointman:

The Bizon PP-19 is considered to be the best Euro Shop weapon available for Co-op. 64 ammos with low recoil and decent ROF, it's capable of dispatch any fugitives get within your range without running out of ammo anytime soon.

Another great weapon to use is the PPSh-41. It has 71 ammo and considerably high ROF. It's obtainable either in Capsule Shop for AP, or, getting 7-9 boxes in Prison Break - Survival and 3 boxes in Prison Break - Escape for timed period. Most people get their PPSh by playing Survival/Escape mode so they don't have to repair their gun afterward, thus saving Euro from having to repair guns every game.

There are also some other weapons to use, like the P90, Bizon Archane (euro capsule gun). As for shotguns, it's best to use mag-fed shotguns (Saiga-12 and SPAS-15) but you need to have Magazine Upgrade A or B for them to be useful, otherwise you'll usually running out of ammo pretty quick. Pump-action and non-mag fed shotguns are not recommended even with magazine upgrade item since you'll still be wasting time reloading them most of the time.

  • Rifleman:

Use any powerful rifle that has controllable recoil while moving. The AK-47 & MK3, FN F2000, XM8, AMD-65 are a few rifleman weapons that I recommended. Some people might be tempted to use the SA-58 Para, but overall its' high recoil and bloom while moving prove problematic and you better off using the AK-47 Mk2 instead.

Many players also chose to use STG-44 since it can be easily earned by getting 4-6 boxes in Survival Mode. It has moderate damage and recoil with rather low mobility, however you don't have to spend extra money to repair it since it's a timed weapon.

The MG4KE, while having high ammo capacity with ammo mod, has extremely slow mobility and low accuracy without the scope. It also has slow reload speed so you're rather vulnerable when you're out of ammo, not to mention aiming with the scope will reduce your FOV and increase the chance of getting flanked.

New update: The recent 20/03/2013 update also added the M249 Red Tiger machine gun. Kinda surprised that Aeria made this euro purchasable for perm unlike in KAVA where it's only purchasable ONCE for 1 day with ridiculous WON price (AP in KAVA). While it has way more ammo and better ROF than MG4KE, its' moveshot is extremely mediocre since you'll experience big recoil if you decided to walking/running around with it. You can say this is the machine gun version of SG556: crouch and it'll be very easy to control. Work best if you decided to camp with your teammate.

  • Sniper:

If for some reason you have to use Sniper, use a Semi-auto sniper rifle. The Knight SR-25 is the current most viable euro shop sniper rifle for Co-op mode. For euro-capsule weapon, the Mad Galil fares quite better as it has high damage, low recoil and high accuracy while moving and aiming down with the scope.
Armors and Backpack Equipments
Armors

  • Helmet and Armor are not really useful in co-op since they don't reduce melee damage at any rate. If you play any objective mode where bosses equipped with guns are present, an anti-charge helmet and armor are enough to survive their hit. If you play Survival, Escape and Battle Gear, just use the default supply armor.
  • Uniform: Any camouflage will reduce melee damage dealt to you. The best Camouflage is the Camouflage ST which reduces 40% of melee damage and 50% fire damage. If you don't have AP to afford it, the Infection Camo is a good substitution since it's available for euro at a rather cheap price and still reduces melee damage by 25%.
  • Gloves: Doesn't matter much, you don't want to waste your money on gloves if you plan to use them for Co-op purpose only.
  • Boots: Same as gloves.
  • Protector: Why do you even bother?
If you have any timed armor pieces, just put them on. Some of them increase the luckyshot chance and might be a good way to get small amount of BP and save you from having to use expensive expendable stuffs.

Backpack Equipments
Backpack A:
  • Extra Ammo: Useful for some objective-based mode where there might be not enough ammo for you at start. Don't bother with it in Survival-based game.
  • Surprise Attack Field Manual (Pointman BP Skill A): Don't waste your BP on this, you don't get to shoot their back that much and the increased damage isn't going to make that much of difference.
  • Magazine Field Manual (Rifleman BP Skill A): 1 extra bullet in your mag, not really bad if you have BP to spend.
  • Advanced SR Field Manual (Sniper BP Skill A): Meh, if you want to run away from the prisoner, just switch to your pistol.
Backpack B:
  • Total Mobility +2%: Don't waste your euro on this. The effect is hardly noticeable and not really a good trade off.
  • Silencer Field Manual (Pointman BP Skill B): Not really useful for Co-op. Why would you want to reduce the range and penetration of your SMGs while the AI prisoners still fully aware of your position anyway.
  • Throw Field Manual (Rifleman BP Skill B): Don't play around with grenades in Co-op that much I suppose?
  • Advanced SR Field Manual II (Sniper BP Skill B): You really want to tryhard no-scope against prisoners? Sure, I don't mind.
Backpack C:
  • Magazine Upgrade A: While only adds +10 Ammo, it speeds up your reload speed quite a lot. I actually like to use this on some Pointman weapons like the PPSh and MP7.
  • Magazine Upgrade B: Most people prefer to use this since it adds +20 Ammo while slightly increase your reload speed as well. Any Rifleman weapons and mag-fed Shotguns will get a huge boost with this item.
  • Adv. Movement Field Manual (Pointman BP Skill C): Herp Derp?
  • Throw Field Manual III (Rifleman BP Skill C): uh... if you want to troll your teammates with smokes, go ahead.
  • Advanced SR Field Manual III (Sniper BP Skill C): Not bad if you have BP to spare and play with sniper, but meh.
Backpack D:
Unless you want more pistol ammo, all items in here are useless in Co-op mode.

Update Apri 17th: There's a new separate item called Extra Magazine in the Add section of Backpack. This will add 15 ammos on all weapons except pistols and shotguns and stack with magazine upgrade A & B. Use this for infinite ammo ahueahuehehue.
List of Co-Op Missions
Below is the list of Co-Op missions that are/were available in UAVA:

Prison Break - Survival

The traditional Survival mode where you and 3 other players have to fight the relentless wave of fugitives until all 4 of you are dead. Usually, every 3 minutes (3:06, 6:06, 9:06 and so on, to be exact) there will be a special Prisoner wearing green jumpsuit that will drop a green box when killed. Getting the box will grant you a certain reward and thus, many people play survival because of those rewards only.

Prison Break - Escape

This is the objective-based version of Survival. You and your other 3 teammates will have to fight through waves of fugitives and complete certain objective to escape from this prison. Box is available at the end of each round and will grant you certain reward for each of them.

Prison break 2 - Rescue

This time, you and 3 (4 if play on Easy mode) other teammates will have to break in a hospital, find Eva, kill any prisoner on your way and call for a chopper to escape. While relatively easy in Easy mode with 5 players, it's quite hard in Normal mode and thus only experienced players are recommended in harder difficulty. There's also box reward in this mission, however they're random and hard to predict which reward will be given.

Prison Break - Death Valley

Considered to be the hardest Co-op mission in AVA (even when playing in Easy Mode), Death Valley puts you in a 4-man EU team like usual. This time, you have to find and kill Pavel Paniflov. Of course this won't be easy due to tougher fugitives and dangerous bosses are standing in your way as well.
By getting 4 boxes in Extreme mode, you'll have an extremely small chance to win the rare Anaconda Kukri or Pavel Paniflov mask, both are permanent.
Death Valley map is no longer available in Aeria AVA due to hackers exploit. It's unknown when this map will return and quite uncertain that it'll ever be.

Prison Break - Lockdown

Lockdown is pretty much the round-based version of Survival Mode. This time your team is locked inside a prison, where prisoners will spawn out from the gates. Bosses will appear in the end of each round (on Normal and Extreme mode, there will be mid-boss spawn as well). After you beat each round, there will be a green box to collect and giving you reward, depending on how many box and which difficulty you're playing. Teamwork is an absolute requirement to beat this mode.

Battle Gear - BeginZ

The first time Sci-fi appears in AVA. Now instead of mutated crazy fugitives, you'll have to fight against rogue robots that will attack you in waves, similar in Lockdown mode. There will be mid-bosses and end-round bosses to fight. After you've beaten all robots in round 1-4, you'll be taken to the underground level where you have to destroy the big robot Betelgeuse with your Plasma Gun. Successful completion of the game will grant you random rewards, from EXP to permanent weapons and items.
Tips and Tricks
This is just a few common tips and tricks. Feel free to notify me if there's any more to add.
  • Don't panic and spray your gun. Instead, carefully aim for the head level and tap/burst slowly so you don't end up wasting ammo to kill just one prisoner. If you're playing as Rifleman, one shot from your rifle is usually enough to kill most prisoners without problem.
  • Prisoners will sometime drop ammo/health box that will recover your ammo/health pool. Be sure to not hog all for yourself since your teammate might need them as well.
  • Again, teamwork is the key to success. You can't hope to be an one-man army and handle them all by yourself. Of course, it's still possible to be one with the right weapon, items and skills but it's too troublesome unless you want to show off your skill (like I do).
  • If a prisoner is close to you, try to strafe-circle around him. Their AI is not smart enough and they'll usually miss you if you're circle around them.
  • As mentioned, the AI of the prisoner is extremely simple (if not outright dumb). For example: if you stand close enough to a thin wall or fence and the prisoner is on the other side, they'll try to hit you through the wall/fence instead of trying to go around and get you. If you're on a higher elevation and the prisoner is right under you, he'll just stand there looking at you. Use it to your advantage to cover your back and lure those prisoners.
  • Prisoners are quite slow compare to your normal run speed. However, be careful to not get boxed in by them.
  • Try not to get hit to the back by prisoners as all melee weapon will have increased damage if hit in the back. Sometimes, you might get killed in 2 hits or a single slash from their knives even with full HP.
  • Among the common prisoners, the one that holding knife is the most dangerous one as he deals significantly more damage compare to the one that is using foodtray or wood stick.
List of Rewards
Well, to be honest, most people play Co-op just because of the reward. Here are the reward you can get for playing Co-op:

Prison Break - Survival
  • 1 box: 50 euro
  • 2 boxes: 100 euro
  • 3 boxes: 500 euro
  • 4 boxes: 1 day Stg-44
  • 5 boxes: 3 days Stg-44
  • 6 boxes: 7 days Stg-44
  • 7 boxes: 1 day PPSh-41
  • 8 boxes: 3 days PPSH-41
  • 9 boxes: 7 days PPSH-41
  • 10 boxes: 1 day Walther P38
  • 11 boxes: 3 days Walther P38
  • 12 boxes: 7 days Walther P38
  • 13 boxes: 1 day L2A3
  • 14 boxes: 3 days L2A3
  • 15 boxes: 7 days L2A3
If you get any more boxes after that, you won't get anything at all so don't even try. There's also a myth where you'll get 10k euro for getting 20 boxes but it has been proven false so don't waste your time either.

Prison Break - Escape
  • 1 box: 1 day M67 Grenade or 100 euro
  • 2 boxes: 100/500 euro
  • 3 boxes: 7 days Stg-44 or 7 days PPSh-41 or 500 euro

Prison Break - Rescue
  • 20, 50, 100 euro
  • Viper Mask 1/3/7 days
Need more confirmation of other reward.

Prison Break - Death Valley
  • 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 Euro (you'll usually get 1000 euro with 4 boxes on Extreme)
  • Camouflage ST 1 Day
  • Camouflage A2 1 Day
  • Magazine Upgrade A/B 1 Day
  • El-Raffle Kukri 1/3/15/30 Days
  • CB105 Boots 1 Day
  • M67 Grenade 1 Day
  • MK3A2 Grenade 1 Day
  • Iyan 08 Protector 1 Day
  • Anaconda Kukri (Permanent, Extreme Mode only)
  • Panfilov Mask (Permanent, Extreme Mode only)

Prison Break - Lockdown
  • 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 Euro
  • MK3A2 Grenade 1 Day
  • M67 Grenade 1 Day
  • Desert Eagle Silver 1/3/7/15/30 Days
  • Clan Mask 15 Days
There might be more.

Battle Gear - Beginz
Easy Mode
  • Small amount of Exp and Supply Points.
  • Small amount of Euro.
  • Low chance of timed Beretta Barbatos, Zonda Bat and Pike Bomb (1/3/7/15/30 days).

Normal Mode
  • More Experience and Supply Points
  • More Euro
  • Low chance of timed Beretta Barbatos, Zonda Bat and Pike Bomb (1/3/7/15/30 days).
  • Rumored that perm barbatos and zonda can be earned but extremely low chance.

Extreme Mode
  • Significantly more Exp and Supply Points.
  • Higher Euro reward (up to 5000)
  • Chance of getting timed Beretta Barbatos, Zonda Bat and Pike Bomb (1/3/7/15/30 days).
  • More chance of getting Perm version of Beretta Barbatos and Zonda Bat.
Time to kill some crazy prisoners and robots.
I hope this guide provides you all the basic information needed for any Co-op missions. While it takes awhile to get a grasp at this mode, overall it's quite fun and enjoyable if everyone knows what to do.

Also, if you happen to see me in the Co-op channel, I might be going around trolling or actually be serious and join random room to help random players finish a game. It's all depend on my mood.

Good luck and happy hunting!

The FN-FNC is pretty good for this, has really low recoil and pretty good DPS..
