So, this game COULD be quite relaxing if it wasn't for a global timer and other little annoyances, like an extremely high "price to pay" for an achievement (earn 1 million coins) and the ones for getting the 3 keys on many levels. Also, the way the game gives you the pieces of the puzzle, makes it much harder than it should be, and the fact that they often don't match with anything already on the "table", makes the hint button a necessity rather than an option.

Anyway, I think it could still work if it wasn't for a completely unbalanced system, such as: a terribly low start time for each level; terribly low earnings for each placed piece; terribly low earnings for each saved second; terribly low earnings for everything else.
This guide will tell you how to modify the game files so that you can fix this situation, making the game less stressing and faster to complete.

A true rebalance patch would need one to go through each level's files and set a much better starting time value, but that is really too much work since my point was to save time, so I decided to tell you how to modify the core gameplay values instead, which makes the job faster and easier (a couple of minutes).

EDITING THE FILE

First you need to open a game's configuration file located here, and you can use Notepad, Wordpad or other plain-text editors (I use Notepad++):

Alice's Patchwork\Resources\data\share\main\config\game.xml

Then modify the following lines with the value shown here (they are close to each other, so you don't need to go around too much):

<element id="time_add_amount" type="int" value="120" />
<element id="patch_scores" type="int" value="200" />
<element id="patch_scores_bonus" type="int" value="600" />
<element id="patch_bonus_on_level" type="int" value="50" />
<element id="saved_second_coins" type="int" value="50" />
<element id="acurracy_bonus" type="int" value="2000" />

You basically only have to change the number at the end of each line, but don't forget to leave the rest untouched (don't remove spaces or any other character). I suggest you to make a backup copy of the file, but anyway, if you mess something up, you can always retrieve it again by verifying the game's cache on Steam.

This modification makes the game easier by adding 120 seconds instead of just 60 to the timer, and giving out more coins for anything you do, like placing pieces and earning the keys.
You can obviously modify it as you wish, to make it harder or easier, but with this configuration you'll be able to earn all achievements and keys with less stress.

Alice's Patchwork\Resources\data\share\main\config\game.xml

<element id="time_add_amount" type="int" value="120" />
<element id="patch_scores" type="int" value="200" />
<element id="patch_scores_bonus" type="int" value="600" />
<element id="patch_bonus_on_level" type="int" value="50" />
<element id="saved_second_coins" type="int" value="50" />
<element id="acurracy_bonus" type="int" value="2000" />

Actually tried it today, but i guess i spoke too soon xD Somehow this is a logical fix on programming level, but it it's not working as if i didn't change anything. I already finished World 1 and got the hang of it, kinda feels better after this fix failed for me xD

No problem :)
I would help you with that achievement but I can't remember anything about it (if I had problems unlocking it or something). Good luck with it.

Achievement guide - Piano Piano Edition, i love it :D Thank you, Cunin ;) Now i only have to figure out how to make this "5 levels in a row without mistake" actually register, because it obviously doesn't after i did it :/ The game seems so broken and it really is a shame.

On the timer, if the above tweaks don't work, pick relax mode.You can unlock the time key in relax mode and not worry about being timed.

Yeah. I really like the idea behind this game, the graphics, the music, the lots of levels available...but the execution is so poor... I really feel bad for the artists that made this, because I cannot really recommend this game in its actual state, without "fixing" it with these settings.
I hope they fixed it in the sequel, which I own but didn't play yet.

Thanks for your words of appreciation :)

Yeah, you're a life saver dude. Astats lists this game at 100% average with 27.1 hours, I have 16/18 with 4 hours. Still too much time imo and I was I had never launched it, but after the 1st achievement the game is being recognized as "played" so to say. So I had to get the rest aswell haha.

It's a shame the game is so incredibly flawed with the fact you get pieces that don't even fit anywhere with what you're getting. At the very least they should have had some sort of way where you could see the picture of the puzzle.

The timer still starts with the default time, I didn't change that, what has changed is the amount of time you receive when you purchase more time.
Yes there's some weird things happening when you change values, which I forgot to say when I wrote the guide. The game seem to have been made with those values in mind, so if the number is too high, it might fail to be displayed correctly, for example. There's also problems in displaying the right amount of credits you've got at the level end summary screen.
So I guess it might seem to not be working under certain circumstances, but if you did everything correctly it should work fine, and it's still much less work than trying to get all the achievements by grinding :)
