Purple will summon sword on their on mostly, give them a sword block with summoned sword, either will break sooner. Sheath just before it breaks you can resummon it faster then later.
At low health they summon another.
and block dodge/parry the last, timing right you learn it and spares durability of your sword. Or if the attacks are heavy hitters it might break the guard by blocking all.
No more sword on map then suicide and they respawn.
Red hp bar npcs sometimes also pick it up after a few encouraging hit.
