Too much random, this is the worst flaw of the game. Just set maximal difficulty and approach to someone in point-blank distance (just next to him). And shoot now. With shotgun. It will hit a guy with 1 time of 10. And this is the best case. Imagine the case when you are a bit further than that (no matter which gun in yours hands). You need just put all your skills into accurance and maybe then it'll be a bit more accurate. Yea, like in "Hitman": now you are much more faster - +2% to run speed (really, guys?! 2%? It sounds like you buy something for 100$ and get "great discount" in 3 cents).

So it does not matter how skilfull you are, it's random probability.
It's like playing "Black Jack" with a blindfold - awesome, if you like to loose.

Just because I can't play it more than an hour on the highest difficulty I do not recommend it (save-load whole the time - that's lame).
If you do not care about that - game is pretty cool (also keep in mind there is a lot of reading).

This game is kinda trash. Yea, it's fun while you go through campain on Expert difficulty with friends. Bad side - it's hard to follow that "story line", as far as there is no videos at all. You just need to follow what some persons from your team say and that's the story. Yea, I know that is not the main purpose of the game, but that would be nice.

Anyway, after playing few hours I got a feeling that it's totally boring. After some more time you can see how all that "mechanic" works. So now versus games become boring too, because if you play as "infected" and your mates are newbies - you will loose. If you are survivours - just keep together (but watch sides) and avoid open places and you are winners. 1 vs 1 versus is not balanced, as far as bots never let one "infected" to damage human player, so actually playing 1 vs 1+3.

Yea, weapons amount is so poor, this also reduces fun.

Idk what can keep you playing the game more than few hours, especially when people say that L4D2 has almost every map of this one (except one map of 20 of "longest time survive" type, not a big deal, right?). I did not play it yet, so can't say for sure.

I do not like those positive reviews with "10/10!", "best game in my life" etc. from people which have 2-9 hours of playtime. How fun it should be that one did spend just few hours? Ask yourself. "Years after Left 4 Dead was released, I'm still playing and enjoying this game." - guy has 15 hours on account. Yea, no offences, but doesn't this look falsey to you?

Anyway. Everyone (seems so) have own opinion, and I do not point to persons but reasons.

Do not recomment this game, just walk away and try L4D2. This way you'll save some time and money.
It worth to be bought on sales for 2-5 hours of play.

This game sucks so much. Seems like someone decided to make better UI but that's all.

1 - Who cares about crafting, when it's easier and cheaper to buy required goods?
2 - Press "H" and then "J" - you get black screen, to return back do it in reverse order.
3 - "Cat" potion - heart beat so loud so I can't hear myself, especially in headsets (thanks to the guy who fixed this somewhere on google by replacing that sound with empty one). Also, you'll never use it at all - not very helpful.
4 - talents: like 100 in total, but 35th level is top, 6 of yours talents have to spent on almost useless skills. Even more: most of skills are for fun only (knive throwing) but you would not learn it because you have only 29 talents left. You can't unlock entire branch of magic, alchemy or sword, just one till top or each for a bit.
5 - Do not worry about herbs, they are almost useless, I got like 300+ herbs at the end of the game. So no reason to learn alchemy (hardest difficulty) - just learn "sword way".
6 - Special armor on "Dark mode" - seems cool (and each really helps), but two things: you can buy everything only at the end of chapter (too much money) and each time you use it yours screen becomes so dark and too much beats. So you have to use "Cat" potion (and it's awesome with its own beats). Also last set is hard to get bacause of some scripted behaviour of monsters - 95% that you will not get enough craft resources for it (and can't even buy some, just save-load untill it drops). And all the time you walk with seeing almost nothing - because of set's curse - cool thing (eyes suffer).
7 - Do not waste yours time (as I did) for Dark mode, nothing new (except unique sets) but play by "load-until-win".
8 - Dark mode: nobody cares about yours protection, everybody just ignores it. Usual guys - 2-3 hits to kill ya, always go with Kven. I got like 151% against fire and still burn like an old leaf (really, who cares).
9 - Some dialogs let you use special ability, but some of them just always fail (no matter of your skills or whatever).
10 - As mentioned above craft is kinda useless, don't even bother with it.
11 - Yeah, dice poker - that's so lame for both games, just random things, save-load until you win.
12 - Fist fights - no matter how far you are in story line you can win 20 orens per fight at most (Wanna money? - Kill harpies, loot and sell - 9 orens per one feather. They are scripted, so you can infinitely kill ones near guy with related quest).
13 - Sneaking (not so often but have to be here) - you can "switch off" one guy from behind when two others sitting just in front of him, nicely done!
14 - And yes, interaction with mouse click - what a great idea! Always before jump or open a door Gerald likes to smash it a bit with his sword (is that kinda fun?..)
15 - Nice idea to add an ability to roll. It's cool! But why I have to do that with sword only? Rolls make yours way shorter but you have to run with a sword (why?)
16 - Why guardians force you to hide sword? Just after the first walthrough I got that they will never punish you for that, just will follow you for a while and then "ah, ok, I'm falling back, don't worry about me". Why? Even when you helped entire city they don't want you to show yours swords. (Crazy people? You've saved them, do they think you did it with just fists?..)
17 - this game sucks, it's just scripty and have an illusion of choice.

Comparing with "The Witcher" - seems like better graphics had to make thing game better. But it did not. Really. With the first one you could learn much more skills (like 45-50 levels and many more talents per level - many more skills). So at the end I could spend some talents for fun (yea, I agree that in "Witcher 1" you could just build your way with "Silver" but anyway). It sounds much better to have some choice instead of trying to spend every talent just for things you must have (or just suffer more with save-load technic).

Story line: almost always the same. I finished the game three times with different endings but they are still the same in general, just minor details difference.

Ok, if you're fan of books and you just want too walk through and "feel the atmosphere" - choose "easy" and go! Just play for story and don't worry, it's cool. If you want some "free walk" / craft / side quests - don't waste your time. And yea, only quests level you up, so, completing quests = 35 level at the end of game. 5 last levels will be at the very end, so do not worry about how to spend them, just play further.

Good things: better GUI (not a criteria for me at all), different story (can't this be some other way?..) and yeah, almost no bugs with stucking or other things. But seems like that's all for me (bring something if I missed).

And yes, it's slasher for kids now, just click till everybody die (except "Dark mode" - never slash, just parry) - that sucks so much!
