Gameplay-wise, it's not a bad game, but I cannot in good conscience recommend Hunt anymore, because it's become painfully clear that something's going on with the development team, and while I'm not sure what exactly that is, it's left us with months of bugs that range from distracting to game-breaking. Viewing equipment details in the lobby/loadout screen can cause anything from "mouse cursor appears on screen during gameplay" to "UI stops responding". Using darksight (a game mechanic that is a core part of the basic gameplay loop) or viewing the map (also vital to gameplay) can crash the game. Servers are chronically unstable and sessions will often crash, sending you back to the lobby. Trying to use search bars will trigger hotkeys as you type and leaving text in the search bar will trap you in that menu until you erase it.

I work in game dev (and for a much larger company than Crytek). I get that sometimes bugs can be difficult to resolve, but the UI bugs have been an issue for months. To be blunt, even implementing a stopgap fix that hides the hardware cursor when the application gains focus/exits a menu does not take 3+ months to resolve. Checking for search bar focus before triggering hotkeys does not take 3+ months to fix.

To be clear, I don't think this is necessarily because the developers are too incompetent to fix anything, but the fact that even these minor (but obvious) bugs passed QA makes me wonder if there's any QA at all. The search bar bug is the most obvious indicator that something is wrong - something like that would be immediately apparent to any developer doing basic tests to ensure their own feature works before putting up a review. Are they being rushed or spread too thin, or do they genuinely just not give a ♥♥♥♥? Either way, I wouldn't recommend supporting whatever is going on behind the scenes with your money.

Can't recommend it right now. I don't know how this even got through QA.

Adding a new bug to the pile: Seems like when my framerate dips low enough (with enough enemies/effects on screen), teleporter bosses gain the ability to instantly kill me no matter where I am.

This seems to run counter to what you'd expect (higher framerate -> faster death), but I think it might have to do with one of the new items teleporting you at low health. Maybe there's a position desync.

Either way, I've never seen a patch turn a game from "what a great game!" to "dear god what in the nine hells is this" this fast, and I once saw an MMO paywall equipment slots.

I'll change this review when things get fixed. Gearbox is apparently a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, so no idea how long that'll be, but I work at a publisher myself and can safely say - don't blame the actual devs. Blame whoever's in charge of design if you have issues with the actual content, and blame shoddy testing/quotas for rushed and buggy releases.

Can't recommend it in its current state. It's basically a map editor and there's not much variety in the way things evolve - the lumpy fish are funny at first, but the novelty wears off pretty fast.

It has potential, and I can appreciate the amount of work that's gone into it, but this is a bit lacking for $20.

I have never played DnD but my first time playing BG3 I was able to orient my entire party around buffing a crab. Crab withstood a critical arrow shot, knocked a grown man off a cliff, then slipped in grease and died. 10/10
