I was someone who was only casually interested in 2D fighting games before, but Skullgirls's in-depth tutorials not only acclimate you to the game itself, but fighting games in general. With easy-to-understand lessons about cancelling, executing and defending against mix-ups, as well as specific tutorials for each character in the game, Skullgirls is both an easy game to pick up and play, as well as a well-made gateway into the world of 2D fighters.

As for the merits of the game on its own, Skullgirls boasts a small but extremely varied cast of playable characters, ranging the gamut of every fighting game character archetype. As I delve deeper into fighting games, I come back to Skullgirls and find I understand and appreciate more and more of the special features Skullgirls boasts to improve its experience, learning where other games in the genre have been lacking.

Skullgirls is well worth the price, and I expect to be playing it for years to come.
