Great game, really appreciate how it balances its depth between different components. A bit hard to get into and at times the UI doesn't give me information as helpfully as I might like but there are plenty of guides and a lot of documentation out there to help get started. Very impressed with how indepth the combat and logistics are given the procedural nature of the game.

Early Access Review
Extremely badly designed for Steam Index controllers, the inability to configure playspace or move around on most of the maps makes it even more frustrating, unresponsive actions on the Giant, not well designed.

Runs great compared to Attila, which is good news for my low-mid tier system. The battles, art design, game design, audio design, everything feels perfect. The empire's best units look appropriately stoic and heroic, while the skeletons have this amazing synchronized walking animation that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hilarious to watch. Watching a massive horde of zombies besiege my men while Karl Franz dives his griffin into the fray and my rockets create massive holes in the crowd had me giddy from how amazing it all looked.

The variety in units AND races fixes a long-standing problem with TW as well. Shogun, for example, was criticized for having too few unit types, while Empire had too many that did the same thing (shot people with muskets). In Warhammer, there's a massive variety in units but each has their place and niche that they fulfill. Each race plays wildly differently and the mod support and planned Free-LC ensure that the game will surivive in terms of replayability until the second in the trilogy releases.

Full disclosure: I got the game for free as I guessed the key correctly during the pre-release stream, and this probably affected my judgment. However, even if you don't believe it's as outstandingly awesome as I've said so far, at least understand that the game is not garbage, and I've been spending my free time since then playing it. It had a relatively smooth release (barring an issue with its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DRM which I consider to be unacceptable) and has been free of technical problems for me. Loads of fun.
