Early Access Review
I really like the aesthetic and feel of this game. It completely clicks with me and isn't a pseudo oldschool shooter. Rather, it IS an oldschool shooter that just so happened to be released in the 21st century. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I bought Final Doom in the box when it first came out. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys FPS games! This is more of what made Doom II amazing but with far higher (sometimes cruel) levels of difficulty. You WILL BE CHALLENGED! This game is designed for veteran Doom players and it will take every bit of your playing skill to complete the games without cheating. Don't cheat, just practice and stay with it. The rewarding feeling of completing 64 levels of iron-tough, pulse-pounding combat can't be beat!

This is the original DOS release, and as such it uses DOSBox as that is Id's approved emulator. The out-of-box configs are usually awful. I really hate to sound so harsh but its true. There are a few things you'll need to tweak to get the original 'how it played on my 486 in 1996' feeling but it's so worth it if you want the OG vanilla experience. If not, you could go the route of a source port like GZDoom but that is entirely up to you. I hope this review helps someone else make an educated decision. Play hard and have a great day!

This is a very different take on the Wolfenstein style of gameplay. This title adds a great deal of depth with character customization, leveling, and perks. There is a lot to consider when using the AI since you must always play with two players. The game has a lot of fun times, and a great deal of challenge. I recommend it for any Wolfenstein player who is avid about the series.

Doom Eternal is what I would envision a proper remake of Doom II: Hell on Earth to be. The game has excellent movement, and deep customization with a high replay value. I would highly recommend this title to any fan of the Doom franchise and FPS games in general. This is definitely an old-school shooter - no cover, no mercy. This game will whip you if you stop to think.

If you liked HeXen, then this expansion is more of what you like! This has three new hubs, even harder than those of the base game. Side-note, Steam's release doesn't have working music. That is due to when the original retail game shipped, there was an issue that was later patched when update 1.1 was released to the Internet. The patch is in fact included with Steam's installation, just not applied. Patch to the current version and you have a perfect game.

HeXen came out when I was young, and so I never had the patience to play it and appreciate it until I was older. I can say that if you're willing to explore, figure out large spaces and the puzzles within then, and have solid keyboard/mouse skills, then this is a great game for you! HeXen combines classic shooter gameplay with creative puzzles and a large, hub-style open world in a colorful and well-animated game that was always ahead of its time. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up, you won't be disappointed.

Awesome game. I had this as a teenager, and think it's an essential for any FPS gamer's Steam library. Also, to share this with the community, there isn't actually a need to use unofficial patches to get proper widescreen resolutions. RTCW runs on Tech3, the same engine that powered Quake III. Simplest method is to use the console:

r_customwidth 1920
r_customheight 1080
r_mode -1
vid_restart

Replace 1920 and 1080 with your native display resolution.

The legend returns. This game is everything I hoped for. I'm running this on Ultra on a Core i5 4460 3.2 GHz, 8GB DDR3, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX970 reference card with 4 GB DDR5 at a perfectly smooth 60 FPS. Can't say enough good about this.
