TL;DR only play if its on sale and also if you have literally nothing better to do (or if you want a lego game good for speedrunning)

I am the only human being who has ever felt nostalgic for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Lego Movie Videogame. I first played it in 2016 when I was 12 and really loved it then, so I decided to pick it up again.

First off, this is by far the Lego game I've had to spend the least amount of time completing by a long shot. It took me 10 hours over the course of a day to 100% the entire thing, achievements and everything. This is because if you play like me and try to fill The Special meter (this game's version of True Jedi) on your first story mode playthrough, you're going to end up with about 1.7 million studs (2.7 million if you get all the studs in the bonus room after the credits) which is enough to buy all three of the first stud multiplier bricks right out of the gate (for reference, if you do this same strat with Lego Star Wars: TCS, you'll end the story with around 1.3 million studs and the x2 red brick is 1.5 million to buy.) This makes buying character, other red bricks, and filling the special meters you missed all a non issue, allowing you to plow through the rest of the game.
I've always been a believer in the argument that voiced characters being introduced to Lego games ended up ruining their charm, but this game could've gotten a pass since its literally based off of a movie about the toy these games are based off of, but they scerwed the pooch here, mostly. The cutscenes are ripped from the movie which is already jarring enough, but then you notice the very odd audio mixing instantly if you've seen The Lego Movie before playing. Some sounds are completely muted along with music, both of which are sometimes replaced with music from the game or with different sounds, but some cutscenes have awkward moments where theres no music or sound in a scene where there absolutely should be. Other oddities among the cutscenes audio include replaced voicelines, voices being out of sync with the mouths, and sometimes no voices when mouths are moving period. The only engine rendered cutscene is at the end of the second level but it looks like it was made for the trailers but then ripped from the trailer with its video quality crushed and then put back into the game for the cutscene. They could've done this (albeit with a little more effort) with every cutscene since they got the voice cast of the movie to return to record more lines, but they just decided not to.
Speaking of the voice actors returning, the new recorded dialogue is used to fill what would be the dead air of the stuff that happens in the game but not the movie. Since Traveller's Tales has always thought children are braindead, most of the dialogue is used as hints for what you should do next, but this gets old quick since just about every other objective or step in a puzzle is narrated. Sometimes the same action is redundantly hinted at twice in a level for some reason, just with a different voice-line.
This Lego game features a new collectible item, Pants. You can find one in each level, which you can use in the hub worlds to gain certain abilities. The problem with these Pants, however, is that by the time you get them all, you'd have all the characters with all the abilities you need, and maybe even some of the red bricks making nearly every pair of Pants completely pointless.
I found this to be one of the buggiest of the Lego games. I'd encounter a glitch multiple times per level, and while not game breaking, they can get annoying.
Most importantly, this Lego game is boring. Compared to other Lego games, it has no new or unique features that make it stand out from the other games at all, and the levels and character roster are just okay. If you're a dumb child, then this probably wont bother you, but if you're a grown ass man like me you're gonna be wondering why you decided to play this Lego game over any other one.

To recap, its only 10 hours of gameplay maximum, the voice acting and cutscenes are awkward, it has pointless features that don't differentiate the game from others, and its just kinda boring. Buy at your own risk.

Decent enough Lego game, fun levels, cool hub. Looks and sometimes plays a lot like Lego Indiana Jones, so it has a sort of "classic" feel to it.
The compass thing Jack has to find stuff in the levels (both Story and Free Play) can get tedious.
Character customization is limited in terms of abilities.

However, this game can crash somewhat frequently and there isn't really a fix out there for it, you can crash from anywhere between 5 minutes or 3 hours of playing. I was replaying one level to get the minikits and compass items and 3 times the game crashed before I could complete the level, erasing the progress.

tl:dr solid enough lego game, expect infrequent crashes

This game is what Lego Lord of the Rings should've been. Lego The Hobbit improves upon LoTR's free roam activities, making the quests and puzzles actually fun, as well as not having the annoying character switching bugs (or limitation, depending on how you look at it).
The levels were fun, and playing them again to get all the extra stuff didn't feel like a chore compared to LoTR's levels.
The dialogue for the levels and cutscenes suffer the same problem Lego LoTR does but to a lesser degree, the audio mixers decided to make the movie's audio not sound like crispy sh*t this time around but there were some odd audio distortions here and there. This doesn't include the quest dialogue since those lines were recorded for this game rather than being in the movie.
The character customizer is also better to an extent. Weapons are excluded, however the diverse selection of treasure items provide the vast majority of abilities needed to beat the levels. The only issue with the custom characters is the smaller characters you get can't do buddy up attacks or crawl through the small doors. The big characters also can't use any of the flails to swing, but thats about where the negatives end.
Enjoyable Lego game, would recommend.

A breath of fresh air after playing the second Lego Batman game. The levels and the character variety in them kept the levels feeling fresh, unlike 2 where you only play as Batman, Superman, and Robin until the last two levels where you actually get to play as different characters.
The dialogue and voice acting in this one didn't take away from the game for a change, probably because I was used to it by this point but also because some of the line deliveries were good on the actor's part.
The free roam missions and activities were fun enough to do, though they started to become repetitive after a time, and some gold bricks looked like they would've been a nightmare to find had I not gotten the gold brick detector extra.
As for the character customization, was good enough to where I could make my own characters and use them in Free Play without having to switch to a different character too often, however, I still found this game's character creator a tad limiting, mostly in terms of abilities though still not as bad as Lego Batman 2's customizer.
Would recommend.

While not the worst Lego game out there, this one was probably the one that annoyed me the most, I feel like if I played this as a kid i would've broke something because some of the platforming and the tedium of the running sections are designed unintuitively. For instance, some platforming in the open world requires you to change characters to progress, but if you hold the button to change your character while you're in the air or in the landing animation, you'll switch to the ai partner at the beginning of the platforming section, causing you to lose your progress because the one you were platforming with will jump off to follow you.

I also took issue with some of the mithril brick puzzles / quest locations also in the open world, namely the ones that require a crank or a key of some kind to access. In Mordor, theres a quest locked behind a door with a missing crank level. The game doesn't tell me at all how to find the crank, so instead I wandered around the area until I go farther back past Mount Doom where there's a crank meant for another puzzle that I dug up to take to the quest and opened the door. This seems like a weird solution to a puzzle for a game meant for stupid children. Or maybe I'm just stupid and somehow couldn't find the actual crank meant for the door in which case f*ck this game for making me feel stupid.

Those were biggest gripes but this Lego game suffers from having very crispy sounding dialouge since the audio is taken directly from the Lord of the Rings movies. The character customization is also very limited when compared to other Lego games released before this one.
The actual levels in the game are fine, but going for 100% on this game was very annoying due to the open world garbage. Get Lego The Hobbit instead, much better game.

lacks the level variety and charm of the first game, flying / driving around gotham is clunky and annoying, and finally this lego game ruined any charm future lego games would have by doing away with the mumbles and introducing voiced characters / cutscenes

dead series, this entry being the final nail in the coffin
seriously how do you screw the pooch this terribly
ya'll diversity hired an inferior va for a series known for being politically incorrect intentionally just for brownie points
and making the modern equivalent of a doom clone thats barely 10 hours long and selling it for 50 of my hard earned shecklebux?
this game was not worth harassing the sw3 twitter account intern to get them to tell me how many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fart jokes would be in this one
unforgivable

The absolute best open-world crime drama to this day.
Great gameplay backed up by an amazing story with interesting characters.
