Good game, but not in my top 5 for the franchise. Good combat, music and side content. The ship movement and combat became a little too slow and repetitive for me, and the combat/progression was insanely easy, but not enough to take away from my enjoyment. The story itself is on the weaker side, but it wasn't trying to be an insanely serious game, so again not really a problem if you are fine to have a less demanding story. It does make some baffling choices though, and at times some downright terrible story and character decisions.

Masaru's Love Journey (although a bit long), and the the mid-credits sequence were all so absurd that I was smiling the entire time, while the after-credits scene was bittersweet in a good way. While I think Gaiden was a better side-story game, this is still a worth while play if you're into the franchise.

The fact this game is getting review bombed partially for the micro transactions is crazy. There are far worse offenders, such as Capcom's very own DMC5 which has 95% on steam while having over £100 in DLC, including in-game currency. This game really only offers pretty minuscule and unneeded resources, which are absolutely not necessary so rather than rate the overall game poorly, just don't buy the DLC. Also you can still obtain the character change item in game or through mods, the micro transaction just gives you one of those items which again, is pretty pointless so just don't buy it.

The game so far is pretty great. More of the first game, so if you liked that you'll probably like this. Luckily my PC can handle the performance at around a steady 120fps, but it does go down to about 60 or so in the town, so I can imagine that's going to be a source of negative reviews for people with mid-tier setups. There are a couple mods to improve performance, such as one that enables DLSS 3 and appears to double frame rate for some people, but I assume this will be worked on over time.

While it doesn't reach the same heights as their more recent games such as Lost Judgment and Yakuza 7, it's still a great game. It has a darker vibe both visually and tonally, and while the main campaign is much shorter than the larger mainline games, what is there maintains the series' quality.

However, it was marketed as a way to introduce new players to the character of Kiryu. I disagree with this, as it feels more like a homage to his lineage than a recap. The game frequently references previous games in ways that new players won’t fully understand, and at times directly shows flashbacks of the endings of a couple of his major games. Overall, it’s a great addition, proving that RGG Studio literally doesn’t know how to miss, and even if I prefer some of the other games in the franchise, it’s still well worth it. However, if you are new to the franchise, I would personally recommend playing an older game if you want to experience a Kiryu-based game.

I'm sitting in the Starbreeze server room with an ECM Jammer up my ass, and I'm not leaving until they add an offline mode 👊😎

Fun gameplay, horrible servers/launch.

A pretty fun, procedurally generated team based horde game that doesn't feel as stale as something like left 4 dead, mostly due to the fact there are distinct classes with various unlocks, builds and mission types which allow for more gameplay depth. The devs are also pretty cool and absolutely deserve all the support they can get.

This game is amazing. It can be clunky, since it uses an engine made for graphics rendering, rather than an engine made for creating games. If that puts you off however, the developer has announced Kenshi 2, and it's being made in Unreal Engine, so you could always wait for that, but I can imagine that's going to be probably about 3-5 years away too considering this game took a while to come out.
