Civilization VI is a wonderful way to branch off from the already (nearly) perfected mechanics of the previous installments. If you're used to Civ 5, there's going to be a lot of habits to change, many for the better, some for the worse. The districts system is perfect for distancing the game from Civ 5's way of construction as well as the new worker system. While it may be a bit annoying to get used to, it allows for a wildly different strategy. This can be said for most new changes. Many things, however, are kept as usual. You've got money, tech, culture, and faith like any other, though how they're used may be slightly changed, they all still exist in their primary usage.
All in all, it's a good game if you're willing to change from Civ 5 or have never played Civ at all.

I've seen a lot of negative reviews on this game, both here on steam and by places such as IGN and Metacritic (though anyone who's been on the internet for a day knows that those hardly count) and I have to say, they are wrong.

Let me cover the most common negative points first.
You pretty much have to use a controller. There's little support for anything else. Which, while a shame, shouldn't be much of a problem for anyone dropping sixty dollars on this game. You can get a good controller for twenty dollars just about anywhere.
The campaign can feel short, but there's twenty missions that take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes (or more, I didn't keep track), so it's really YOU that just can't get enough of this game.
And... that's it. If you can get past that, this is a wonderfully glorious game.

Flying an airplane has never felt so fun outside of the actual thing. I'd dare to bet that this is even better than that at times.
The graphics are stunning and, from what I hear, require very little to run properly. I'm not going to buy a worse computer to test that, but if you have 8 GB, I can guarantee you that's enough.
The music, as usual, is outstanding. Every track in this game, even the background music for the debriefings is fantastic and charming. It'll make you quake with joy at the return of your favorite franchise for any veterans, will awe you with the sheer scale of things coupled with its music, will make you shiver in fear as your new, terrifying enemy launches into the sky, and shock you when that happens. There's about 8 things I could be talking about, and they all fit.
The gameplay makes you feel like the world's top ace, even if you've crashed three times on this mission for no reason other than your own ineptitude. Flying is just that fun. And, trust me, if you can (and anyone can with practice), use expert flying mode. It's how this game is supposed to be played.
The story and characters are great as well. It's got that slightly cheesy action movie plot that still is creative and fun enough to keep you more than interested, but have you laugh at times regardless. The characters are all diverse and properly voice acted. Your character, though he never speaks and is never shown (outside of the cockpit), is easy to understand. You can get a read on his personality based entirely off of the dialogue of other characters.
Multiplayer is perfect as well. The tech tree is universal across campaigns and MP, so you can grind missions to unlock a new plane and test it out before jumping into MP or you can just go with the flow and do it as it comes to you. All MP games are 5 minutes max or until a player or team reaches the the victory score (100k for deathmatch and 250k for teams). Even as you fail and get shot down by about thirteen missiles, you'll be smiling and bouncing in your seat, waiting for your plane to repair so you can get back into the action.

All in all, buy the game. Trust me, it's worth it.

I'll be blunt. I've had fun with this game. Even before I basically killed it with mods, it was a great game.

But was is a scary word.

I've not played much recently because I want to let all of these new updates roll out. But, as each one does, it seems the game takes more and more turns away from what it started as. Good or bad, I don't know what it is. The DLC have been pretty good, at least the ones that aren't species packs. I've liked a lot of the new update features, but, from what I've seen, they're starting to break the game more than they improve it.

While combat may get improved, diplomacy, specifically border control, may be hurt. Maybe they add some new features like ascension perks, but break something else in the process.

For now, I reccomend this game. But if it becomes unstable or problems become unbearable, I may be forced to switch.

I played Endless Space 2 in the latter half of the last day of a Free Weekend. With nearly 9 hours on it, you can see I quite enjoyed it, only giving in to sleep when I was absolutely forced to. I won't give a super in depth review of it, telling you the pros and cons and giving it ratings every 5 sentences, but rather tell you what made me quickly decide that I would buy this game when the money was available. It'll still be long, so prepare your butts.

I immediately knew I'd like it just by it being a positively rated space strategy and thought that a few gigabytes on my hard drive would be worth some playtime. After it finished downloading, I loaded it up and began examining all the menus and such as I picked my Galaxy. It was well polished and thought out, but the real quicker came with the races. There was, of course, the simple "Human" Empire, but I fell in love with every other race immediately. All the designs were beyond creative and almost entirely unique.

As with every game with multiple races, the Humans are present, being what I assume to be a jack-of-all-trades. I didn't play them as I was much more interested in everything else, but the "United Empire" as they're called, is easily the most generic of the group at a glance.

The Sophons are a group of small, curious people who love technology and are adverse to war, considering it a distraction from their learning. But they are not to be trifled with. Their advanced weaponry can be dangerous should they be forced to point it at you.

Next are the "Lumeris," a group of amphibious people that are dictated by their economy, which is then controlled by an assortment of families that decide how to run everything. They, along with the Humans and Sophons, are some of the more basic races, if only by comparison.

The most hilarious one was by far "Horatio." A man with super advanced cloning technology and a narcissitic personality so extreme that he made an entire civilization of himself. From this he plans to colonize the universe, forever perfecting it along with himself. They use advanced genetics to create the perfect bodies for themselves.

The Vodyani are some of my favorite, being a warrior culture that was forced into space after their homeplanet's resources, and thus its habitability, were depleted. After finding technology from the long dead "Endless" that allowed them to put themselves into a virtual state of immortality, their populace entirely contained aboard their ark. Because of this, they have a special ability where the population of each system is dictaed by the number of planets times the populace of its Ark. So, for example, if you have 5 planets and 5 people on your Ark, you'l lhave 25 populace. A very unique race, indeed.

The heathans of this diverse group are called the "Cravers." A hivemind populace that was given sentience by the Endless, they scour the galaxy for more food to expand their empire, having recently realized that their world was finite. Diplomacy is a distant thought for them as they prefer to eat their rivals than negotiate.

Another of my favorites are the "Unfallen," a race of sentient plants that had long stayed dormant, prefering to observe peacefully from their home planet. After seeing the destruction and violence of a space battle above their homes, they decided to become the "America" of the galaxy, declaring themselves as the peacekeepers of the universe. Their designs are absolutely beautiful and I adore them beyond most others. Except for this last race.

The race that I chose, both for their design and their story, are the "Riftborn." Originating in another, much more uniform dimension, they were forced into ours after a rift between the two opened, corrupting and killing any of those in their world that was caught in the spread of its chaotic disease. Colonizing an arctic planet reminiscent of their pristine, white universe, they find little comfort beyond the barren planet, taking everything in as a monstrosity compared to their uniform, gemoetric shapes. They slowly adapt to their new homes, realizing that there is no possibility in saving their universe. Timeless in their own universe, they can control it here, allowing them to speed or slow the productions and experience gain of entire systems, three at a time.

My game temporarily ended during a major, galaxy wide quest that I will not spoil. But I cannot wait to continue it. This game is beautiful and anyone with a fondness for space and/or strategy will love this game, too.

Speaking of which...

Hey! OpenIV is allowed again! I can give this a like again!

At least, if you like single player or don't mind wasting hundreds of dollars to have a chance in multiplayer. Otherwise you'd better have a couple friends who like to just screw around in it.
