It's a great rhythm game, the other bits are fine too I guess.

The song charting across the board is great, there are many many charts that feel and look awesome. Some feel like doodoo or just hurt your hands but, that's Rhythm games for you, suffering is part of the experience.
The sheer creativity and diversity in some of the charts reminds me of modcharts for DDR like UKSRT and some of the better SV charts from Osu!mania. April Fools charts always bring a smile to my face even if they're god awful (that's the joke)
All songs have a lower difficulty option for new players and there are even accessibility options to help those with skill issues progress the story at the pace they want. The quality of the charts on lower difficulties suffers naturally as a result of undercharting some of the more intense songs but uh, at least most of the Middle/Finale difficulties feel fine. I dunno really, i dont play Ez mode, ask someone else.
Game features a fantastic variety of songs, many of which familiar to other Rhythm game fans, and even more I've found new favorite artists in. Exceptional electronic music focus and fans of J-/Break/hardcore will eat good. There's also bits of chiptune but like, cmon, it's your average Rhythm game soundtrack with maybe more webcore samples. You probably already know if you'll like it going in.
The pixel art aesthetic for all the jackets and UI is cool, I jive with it. The Boss song MVs are cool as hell as well. But the Visual Novel's artstyle I could do without, reminds me too much of tumblr artists I guess? Like I say that as a bad thing because that's what I think but you might think the opposite.

On that note; "The other bits."
Firstly, I dont like the characters, for various reasons, most personal. The dialogue and writing is accurate to *that* particular subset of terminally online neurodivergent individuals. Whether that's good or bad depends if you enjoy that style of writting/texting/talking. I dont, so it's a minus.
Story narrative is novel especially in how it ties to the gameplay, but again, I don't like the characters so it's hard to really care about the story beyond the premise and the setting.
The idea of puzzles for story progression and unlocks is cool and allows for some downtime to let the story sink in or rest your fingers, but the ARG-esque puzzles really suck. The puzzles kinda just feel like they're... There. Not really part of the game just something put in for that idea of solving something.
Exploration for full completion was a chore, especially without the community-made map and guides, then again, I hate wandering around with little direction.
Speaking of the community, let me address the rainbow coloured elephant in the room;

By not talking about. It's alphabet soup group nonsense and I have no desire to engage with the ♥♥♥♥ hugbox so there's really nothing TO talk about for me. I'm biased against, so look somewhere else.
In my head, I accidentally skipped over specific dialogue boxes and ignored the obvious signposting, so I remain blissfully unaware of the agenda being nudged across the desk towards me.
