20 dollars is too much for a game you could finish in four hours.

Spear of Destiny is okay, but the Return to Danger and the Ultimate Challenge expansions included are garbage; some might even consider them worse than Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. I'm actually not kidding. But probably not as bad as Wolfenstein: Young Blood.

Both expansions have some of the absolute worst level design you will ever see. Have you ever played a game that forces you to find secrets that can only be found by mashing the Use button on literally every wall in most of the levels? Well, these two expansions are exactly that. If you don't find these secrets, you literally cannot beat most of the levels.

But hands down, the biggest crime the expansion packs make is that in Level 10 of Return to Danger, you have to go through a maze to find a yellow key. But guess what? The key is unobtainable. The only way to get it is to find a secret area in a different room and kill the boss hiding inside. THEN you get the key. This means the maze was a complete waste of time. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to do something like that, but it's a really, really mean trick.

Both expansions have new graphics & sounds, but nothing else really changes other than that. Even the endings are the exact same as in Spear of Destiny. And also, the Nazi Zombie was replaced by a bat carrying guns on its feet. Just wanted to point that out.

So anyway, if you want to buy this, have fun with Spear of Destiny, but play Return to Danger and Ultimate Challenge at your own risk.

"The 'Ultimate Challenge' here being if your patience can hold out long enough to not put your fist through the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ monitor."

The reason why this game can't be purchased anymore is because the original Quake has been given a revival for its 25th anniversary. Go check it out! This expansion pack is included in the original Quake for free now!

It's good, but the Steam port isn't. Download GZDoom and copy/paste the HEXEN.WAD file into the GZDoom folder if you buy this. GZDoom is safe, free, and doesn't even require installation. It even works with Heretic and Classic Doom.

New to Doom? Follow this little guide:

Step 1: Buy the game. Simple as that. I mean, you can afford it, right?

Step 2: Play it through Steam! If you want to play more mods that aren't present, or don't like the Unity port, keep reading. Go to the folder where Steam installs it.

Step 3: Go into either the "base" folder or the "rerelease" folder. You'll find files called "DOOM.WAD" and "DOOM2.WAD". Leave the window open for now.

NOTE: The "base" folder has the Doom files in their original, uncensored glory. The "rerelease" folder has them censored in terms of red crosses and Nazi imagery.

Step 4: Download GZDoom. It's safe, free, and up to date even to this day. Installation isn't even required.

Step 5: Unzip the folder, and enter it.

Step 6: Copy/Paste the WAD file(s) into the GZDoom folder.

Step 7: Launch GZDoom.exe.

Bonus Step: Start back at step 1 if you plan on buying Heretic or Hexen. Those games haven't been remastered or given a Unity port; they still run on DOSBox.

Congratulations! Now you can play Doom to its full extent!
