I think this game satisfies a niche - clear, engaging controls accompanied by ostensibly simple mechanics, that actually turn out to have a fair bit of depth to them! Despite being the continuation of a mobile game, it's more than detailed enough for PC.

Interstellar Pilot 2 can essentially be played however you'd like, with opportunities for pure combat (bounty hunting, mercenary missions, etc), trading, or even constructing full production chains spanning across multiple sectors, complete with mining and factories, requiring cargo transfers by dedicated hauler ships. I've particularly enjoyed the strategy aspect; diplomacy is simulated, and prices around the universe are affected by various factors. Your positioning of fleets matters - it takes a while for them to move around, and you need to preemptively defend sectors while managing your finances.

Bandits will try to meddle with your trade routes and stations - escorting fleets becomes necessary, which would be tedious if not for the built-in orders system, which allows you to easily command vessels and regulate their movement, or even bundle vessels into fleets for collective management. Managing large numbers of fleets is simplified by filter options and a good UI.
The AI has some depth to it too; they aren't all-seeing, and also need to explore to discover your stations and ships. Trade therefore requires exploration, which in turn requires escorts. All aspects of the game are neatly brought together by developers who actively listen to their playerbase. Graphics are great - skyboxes are detailed, vivid and randomly generated(!) and ship models are nice and high resolution - even more impressive considering this game's origins.

TL;DR Great game, loads of future potential and lots to do with regards to strategy, trade, combat, etc. Fantastic value for the price.

(Note - I was a beta tester for the Steam release, hence the disclaimer.)

While VRChat is, at its core, a decent game, it is only one if you are extremely liberal with the block tool and avoid certain spaces entirely. Many I know no longer visit public worlds whatsoever. With a complete lack of moderation and a fundamentally flawed reporting system, this game has become dangerous for children. VRChat was never intended to be a dating and erotica sim. Unfortunately, it is going that direction, and children are getting caught up in the fray. I cannot recommend it unless you are committed to playing very cautiously.

Testing this game has been a remarkable experience; watching it slowly develop from a prototype to a hilariously enjoyable racing sim was incredible and I don't regret a single second of it! It ensures everyone gets a fair chance with adjusting the spawn chances of certain boosts, ensuring races remain tight, and that they do. The feeling of hearing roaring afterburners as you hover just beneath an aircraft during a turn, fighting for that extra bit of space is brilliant. Practising alone has been streamlined significantly, making it a productive and fun process. And I'm sure the community this game develops will be incredible!
HOTAS support, desktop mode, and TrackIR have finally been integrated too, and they work brilliantly. Clean UI, funky skins, amazing maps and stupid power-ups; what's not to like?

If you're on the fence about buying this... put simply, don't be. 10 dollars opens up a world of possibilities with your friends, or random strangers looking for a quick match. Every race is never quite the same, and I honestly can't recall a single one in which I haven't had a good laugh!

TL;DR - Amazing game, absurdly fun with friends.

After a few hundred hours of gameplay, I can say that this is one of the best VR games on the market right now.

VTOL delivers a level of realism perfectly blended with arcade fun. If you're a die-hard DCS simmer with thousands of hours, you'll love this. If you've never been on an airplane before, you'll love this nonetheless. There's always something to offer for both sides of the spectrum, and the depth of systems in-game is absurdly advanced; VTOL accurately simulates radar-cross-sections and notching, and weapons are modelled in a way that isn't too arcadey, but isn't too serious either. Again, something for everyone. Flight physics are really nice too, and the VR flight controls are absolutely perfect, once you get used to them.

The community has really blossomed since release. I started my own flight school to help out new members, and a massive assortment of different people all come together regularly to fly on the Multiplayer Mod, localisation is being pioneered by bilingual players, and people are having massive amounts of fun out of VTOL's core mechanics.

The developer is just on another level, too. Bug fixes are rolled out in hours, and features are added very often. And yes, that's "developer". It's one guy.

Sure, VTOL has to make some sacrifices. All VR games do. But those sacrifices go out the window when you realise just how incredible an experience this game delivers. Feel like flying at 50 feet, then popping up and Fox 3'ing a bandit? Be my guest. Want to just fly around and explore? Feel free. It's a complete sandbox, and with unlimited possibilities, it'll be a long time before this game dies out.
