It's getting okay again, not like the old days, but they are trying. Been playing on and off since before it hit steam.
Other than that for new players its definitely worth checking out. Superb gameplay combined with creativity and destruction.

"Everything is fine! Vive Medici." - president of a country that is overrun by rebels.

oh and you can ride planes like they are horses

also the optimization is superb, maxed out 1080p and having 60fps without drops, obviously if you play with a potato you might experience some stutters

Been here since the closed alpha and boy am I glad I did not miss out on any test session!

Bethesda really outdid themselfes again, this game will easily get in my top 3 games for 2016 and I think for many other peoples aswell.

As for Doom itself... I still got the original xbox version here next to me and this game doesn't disappoint. It is so fast paced, in all honesty, you can call this Doom 4 without ruining the franchise.

The game gives you acces to 3 game modes; campaign, multiplayer and snapmap.

Campaign:
This is actually a fun story! I've laughed several times to the bad puns and also to some glorious kill moments (yes I might be a bit sadistic...). Demons have invaded and it is your job to shoot every single one of them down.. or ya know, snap their necks and bash their heads in. The campaign consist out of several chapters, each covering their own unique levels with collectibles, free upgrades, enemies, goals and ofcourse some story progress. Compared to the Doom I had on the xbox the scary part got kinda removed (but hey I was a small kid back then so it might've been scary due the creatures), but it is so lovely to just massacre everything. You're an overpowered agile entity that gives no ♥♥♥♥♥, last time I've played with such a character was with prototype (played it later than crysis).

But once again, god ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ damnit, I never expected campaign to be this amazing!!!! I mean it has been several years, how the hell can they pick up the doom feeling? Well they actually did and they improved it where it was needed and they squeezed out an amazing nuclear demonic baby with 2 other game modes. This stuff reader, if you purchase this make sure to have a holiday or so and no exams ahead or you'll be doomed.

Multiplayer:
Closed alpha; many flaws, much balancing to do; simple environment.
Closed beta; less flaws, 2 game modes, decently balanced, but bazooka fest, demons!
Open beta; minor bugs, 2 game modes, balanced; massacre.
Final product; no bugs, 6 game modes, more balanced than a 2 coloured pudding, fast paced killing spree.

After each session they took our feedback to the heart and implemented it. I've written long essays on their site for testers and I feel like it was read and used for a more balanced game. This leaves a customer like me with a good feeling. The improvements were noticeable and I absolutely can say that if things have to be improved, they will definitely do it with the given feedback!

Multiplayer now has 6 game modes. TDM, warpath, soul harvest, domination, freeze tag, clan arena.
TDM: basic team deathmatch with a goal of total kills to achieve.
Warpath: conquer the moving zone and keep defend it from enemies, or capture the one from the enemies. The zone gives points and you need an x amount of points to win/lose.
Soul Harvest: There is ALWAYS a demon, so no spawning rune, the first killer gets the demon rune as drop. Every kill drops 1 soul and you need to collect an x amount of enemy souls to win.
Domination: There are several non moving zones to capture now, each gives points over time and you need the most points to win.
Freeze tag: probably the funniest one, killing an enemy freezes the enemy. Freezing all enemy players results in victory. Standing next to a frozen ally will melt them. 3 ouf of 5 matches wins.
Clan arena: There is no such thing as clans in here, it is basically team deathmatch with only 1 life. 3 out of 5 matches wins.

Snapmap (level builder):
This tool will get me hooked for several days. I will start building maps after my final exam, or else I will be in trouble.... But! This tool is really nice, it kinda reminds me of trackmania canyon where you could build tracks. Here you allign several segments and you place some objects in them. Trust me the map builder is pretty advanced. From big ass mazes to tiny detailed spaces!

Optimizations:
A stable average of 125fps 1080p at the highest possible settings. My setup it a i7 4790k @ 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr3 ram @ 1866mhz, nvidia 980ti. Now not everyone can afford a high-end/enthousiast setup, but With this rig I've had several other AAA games running at the same preset achieving fps of less than 80. So lowering down the settings would allow you to play on a potato. The graphics are absolutely amazing though, even at low quality. Push your system if you can, it is worth it. But yeah this game is optimized and I can say for sure it runs great on any system. However make sure to have your drivers up to date, that goes for both amd and nvidia, otherwise you might experience some lag and stutter in during the cutscenes..

>got back in game after a year
>notices I left myself with some good t8+ supplies in vault
>notices game is full of bots
>some bots are broken
>broken bots drop $$$ potions
>found a new business

So far I've collected in nexus about 20 different stat potions and some t11+ equipment. Tried playing it a bit, not bad especially with the high tier equipment. Might play it again later.

I legitimately got scared for a few parts... for such a simplistic game it has achieved more than your average AAA scare game will. "But graphics matter!" go shoots yourself or rather... go play this game.

I have to say for a free game this thing delivers quite a lot! I love the references I have found in the game so far and the easter eggs :D the deeper you delve the more this becomes a master piece!

Going from arcade to the common overly used failed experiment horror tags to some anime with major plot twists (madoka) to tortured souls to more references that I yet have to encounter :D

Edit:
Nominated for haunting my dreams :(

i7 4790k overclocked @ 4.8ghz, nvidia 980ti, 16gb of ram and the game crashes when I start it up... this game doesn't only have issues with AMD but also nvidia even when you're way above the recommended specs. It's a shame that this is utter garbage since I was really looking forward to it.... even bought that DLC, glad steam does refunds though.

After some research I think I might've hit the problem, this game DOES NOT work on versions after windows 7.... so win10 users like me here would've gotten ripped off if it weren't for the refund system.

I wont take a refund for this game but as of 27th of december 2015 this game is full of bugs or annoying glitches.

I only have 30 minutes into this game so yes I am still eligeble for taking a refund.

First of all and probably the most annoying of all, screen tearing. Despite vsync, a 980ti and other high end hardware this games gives me an awfull load of screen tearing. Lowering the resolution or overriding nvidia's settings on the game doesn't help. I like smooth gameplay and visuals, screen tearing is something that personally makes me hate a game. However this game has potentional and it looks gorgeous so I will patientfully wait for the updates...

The graphical settings that can be adjusted are just to minimal. They should've given plenty more of options. For example I don't like blur, disabling it still results in a blurry depth in the distance.

The game doesn't deliver much of a guide/tutorial on how to interact with certain puzzles. You just have to try every key to get to know the results, you can ofcourse check out the key bindings, but personally I don't think that a player has to go that far to get familiar with the important keys.

It is also unclear as what to do, you kinda explore and free roam while solving a puzzle so now and then, then you enter a portal and scout out a new place where not everything always work as you'd expect.

Probably the last thing for now that I found rather irritating, is the inventory. After messing with the keys I figured out that scrolling makes me pick an object from my inventory and it slowly materializes into my hand. This slowly.. is awefully annoying. It looks splendid and amazing, but that feeling fades away when you cycle through objects to inspect what they are... waiting for like 10 seconds per object results in a big time waste. If you have to look a small thing on a map you'd wait 10 seconds for it to materialize. So the wait is longer than what you have to look for. In the beginning I thought the game was just broken or so since it took that long.

Apart from the puzzles being rather simple, they are close to unique. You won't find many other games with the same type of puzzles.

I also enjoy the option of making my own choices rather than having a linear gameplay.

As the last pro, the visuals are superb have to hand it out to them.

TL;DR
-screen tearing
-unclear goals
-hard to get used to basic game mechanics
+visuals
+freedom

Edit:
Forgot to mention 1 important thing, if it weren't for the music I'd quit this game after 5 minutes. Due the nice musics and clear voices I continued and discovered interesting elements, only reason I won't take a refund and just wait it out.

Depth, a teamwork based pvp game. You can also play without teamwork, but it will lower your chances of winning.

What is Depth?
Depth is basically a pvp game located in the ocean. Instead of the well known terrorists vs counter terrorists or survivors vs zombies it is divers vs sharks.
Depending on the game mode, for example blood and gold, it is 2vs4. Which is 2 sharks vs 4 divers.
As a shark you want to kill the divers and stop them from leaving the ocean with their robot that cracks safes.
As the divers you want to ensure the safety of the bot and you want to get rid of the sharks.

Gameplay:
Taking blood and gold as example again the gameplay is rather quite enjoyable. There are many possibilities for both teams to ensure victory. For example the divers can decide to become the hunters and kill the sharks until the live pool for the sharks has depleted. They might aswell prefer to just stick around the safe cracking bot to ensure that the sharks won't harm/kill it. The goal for them is to either deplete the sharks of their lives or to get the bot up to the surface with the loot.
The sharks on the other hand have 2 options aswell. Wipe out the divers and their lives, or damage the bot (steve) enough to kill it.
After every kill divers will be awarded a bit of gold which can be cashed in at steve (or they can scout the map for treasures to give to steve) or sharks will be awarded evolution points. The cash/points are used to buy upgrades. The sharks get faster, stronger and tougher to kill while the divers get more deadly with stronger guns and traps.
There are plenty of upgrades/weapons to pick and they are balanced (yes, really balanced).

Cool, so how do I win?
A major factor of deciding who will win is either teamwork or your own experience so far, not the level up experience but the personal experiences gained over strategies etc. For example I am used to play with Mako, a very agile shark.
When I select mako I make sure to focus on getting upgrades that increases my speed and stamina. After that I will aim for upgrades that focus on my health/regeneration rates.
As a diver I prefer to go with 1 shot 1 kill guns. You can give them certain upgrades such as bleeding/poison damage or give them a tracking device so that the shark which survived your shot will be tracked. Distance shots will be easier to get a kill when they try to escape.
You've won when the opposite team has all their lives (30+amount of players) or when you've completed the other objective (kill steve or bring steve to the surface).

What about the environment?
The map is pretty huge considering you can go up and down aswell as it is in the ocean. There are plenty of underwater buildings/ship wrecks etc to hide in as a diver or to destroy as a shark. There are 11 different maps as of now which are all completely different from each other. Each map gives you different strategies to use as both diver and shark.

Game mechanics? Easy hard?
Well the basic game mechanics are easy to understand and to get used to. It is all about movement and aiming. A few extra's are the boobytraps to get used to.

Pros and cons.
+ Community. Honestly this is the best community I've encountered in multiplayer games. And yes I've played many multi player games. The community is very noob friendly as about everyone gives the new players advice and shares their own strategies to help newbies get used to the basic gameplay.
+ Variation. There are a couple of game modes which you can play with 11 different maps. So you won't be getting bored any time soon.
+ Servers. I find it sad that I have to point this out as a pro, but recently plenty of game companies use garbage servers for multiplayer-based games. Depth has pretty stable and good servers.
+ No glitches/bugs. Taking into account an average match lasts 10 minutes, I've played enough to have the chance to encouter bugs right? Well I didn't encounter a single one! Hats off to the devs for this. There are no physic bugs or game breaking bugs/glitches.
- Matchmaking. An average waiting time is at top 2 minutes and usually less than 30 seconds if you go for a quick match. However the teams are always unbalanced experience wise. For example I had a match against 4 newbies while I am on par with pros. It was an easy victory and fun, but it would've been more fun if they had an experienced team member aswell.

Should I buy it?
Yes definitely. I usually play this game without friends and I find it pretty entertaining as I can play solo without relying on others. Sometimes I play with a mate of mine which is pretty fun aswell, as we cordinate our attacks. So with or without friends it is worth it! You can play it like 20-30 minutes a day since a match takes about 10 minutes to finish (steve needs this amount of time to get to the surface in worst case scenario).
Also don't be shy in the game to ask others for help as almost everyone loves to help others (no sarcasm).

Footage:
I decided to film a match of blood and gold to give those interested about the actual gameplay something to look at and judge.

It was a great game, scratch that it was freaking perfect!

The graphics are so neat, more real than the world outside! No buggy animations, just some weird ragdolls so now and then.

Epic trailers for DLC's/big events!

MUSICCCC!!@!@!

This game will give you and your friends a really good time due some nice teamplay, good paced missions which can be prepared really well. You can stealth missions or go all out into a war.. BUT overkill lied to their fanbase.

In the past they made a promise to us, which seemed pretty good and to which they didn't live up to. NO MICRO-TRANSACTIONS. As you've probably read already from other reviews well this game got turned into pay to win. You are better off with CS:GO if this keeps up.

They kept releasing a bunch of DLC's with no season pass, but we were like.. alright we will help you guys out since you live up to your promise. But now with the micro-transactions they turned into a money grabbing company, which they already were, but they kept their promises.

Now even if it's free I don't suggest getting this game. Slowly the community (if you play with random peeps) is becomming toxic and 4/5 games has hackers. Even if it is player vs AI, it makes it no fun. Or you can play solo with an AI that is so dumb...

This game was definitely good, those 100+ hours were achieved by playing during the weekend for 2-4 hours a day (which was at the time a lot for me due study and jobs). Now I can't even finish one game or either the guys I get teamed with ruin it by taking the game way to serious, or troll as it is their full time job or what so ever.

TL;DR
+ graphics
+ sfx
+ events
- micro-transactions
- no season pass
- community
- companion AI
- overkill (since november 2015)
- pay-to-win
