Got this day 1 and finally decided to finish it, i wish i didnt leave it in backlog for so long... The ost, atmosphere, ui, art and story blend so well together that it ended up being such an enjoyable experience. The gameplay/combat is nothing revolutionary and the port is a bit rough, but despite that, everything else makes it up for its flaws.

First and foremost, this is a SPIN OFF game of the Way of the Samurai franchise.

Now, continuing with my review..

Katana Kami is a roguelike-way of the samurai game. Instead of the usual semi open world map, youll be killing monsters and looting in different type of dungeons which features characters/items/weapons from the previous games.

The story follows a ronin who meets the blacksmith Dojima (wots 3), whos daughter is being taken away by some loan sharks as collateral, so you offer to help him pay up what he owes in exchange of marrying her.

The reason why it gets a lot of hate/bad reviews is due to not following the formula of the other way of the samurai games but instead, it takes a complete different approach, its a well done game tho, but a spin off will usually get some hate.

The gameplay is fun, similar to wots 3 but much smoother. The story and dialogues are very goofy, just like any other wots game, the characters have better interactions and they even fight between themselves (one of the shop vendors gets into a lot of fights and usually ends up dying lol). Runs at 60fps and the overall performance is good, a controller is HEAVILY recommended tho (the game autosaves after every interaction, so if you ever encounter some kind of issue you can safely close the game).

Since its a roguelike, youll be doing the same routine again and again: explore the dungeon, loot and kill, decide to keep going further or go back to the village, manage your inventory in the village, sell, upgrade, check your current quest and repeat, its fun if you ask me since its all rng so no run will ever be the same, theres TONS of different possibilities.

WOTS is one of my favorite franchises ever and i absolutely love this game too, just like anyone else i want a wots 5 too but this is what we got and im having a lot of fun with it.

Spike chunsoft: you guys did a terrible job advertising this game, you could have even done it through steam without spending a single dollar but decided not to which is a shame, -1 point to SC (also, fix the Acquire corp developer steam link).

The best fromsoftware game

They fixed it! The annoying issues are gone, only a bit of stuttering in some menus but it doesnt affect the gameplay at all.



Bad port:

- TONS of audio issues

- They didnt even bother upscaling the UI/Art etc

- Broken borderless mode (others mention how the game is unplayable unless you are running it on 1080p and some situational crashes)

- Online mode seems to not work at all

On my end, its "playable" but an overall mediocre port. Hope they do something about it.

Ignore the positive reviews, theyre literally just memeing about persona or portbegging.

In a market saturated with AAA cinematic "experiences" and indie games trying to hard to be something theyre not, Felix feels like a fresh breath of air. Just like its mentioned in the games description, Felix takes you back to the glory days of 3D platforming. Great music and fun level design makes Felix stand out of the bunch and without doubt, a game that can satisfy anyone.
