I bought this game on sale after seeing reviews on reddit. My only other experience with hunting games is RDR2 and the Far Cry series. They are fun. This is not.
I understand the want for realism, but not if it is SEVERELY at the cost of enjoyment.
I understand the existence of DLC, but not if it's necessary to play the game.

This game is horrendously slow. Not "Take your time and immerse yourself" like RDR2 (which some people found too slow). This game punishes you heavily for doing anything except crawling through grass at the slowest possible pace, vaguely pointed in the right direction, with zero visibility of the incredibly tall grass. The second you get up to try and survey your surroundings, you scare off any and every animal in a 100m radius (100m = 5 straight minutes of crawling).

5 straight minutes of crawling, or following 18 sets of tracks without ever seeing the animal is what I would be prepared to do for an animal of some sort of prestige, not for a level 1 basic deer. This game does not get you excited in the beginning, then starts to make things difficult. Instead, right from the tutorial deer, you feel weak and underpowered. Instead of making you feel like you have potential with bigger game, it immediately tells you that you are going to have to struggle for more than 2 hours before you might even consider upgrading your gear to struggle just a little less for the same game. There's no "I just wanna shoot weak prey to practise a bit". You wanna hunt the weakest little rabbit that is worth less than the ammo you use to hunt it? Start crawling from the tutorial zone for 20 straight minutes in grass so tall you can't even enjoy the view and then maybe you can shoot one rabbit and maybe that bullet will do enough to kill it.

I decided to check reddit to see what I was doing wrong. The first comment on the first "help how to I play" thread I found said "go buy the dog and atv dlc". Excuse me? That's the best the community can do for how to play the game? Spend money? Every negative review of this game cites the greedy model the game is sold under. The community is made up of shills that have been brainwashed into thinking they have to pay more than the price of a game for the right to enjoy it.

This game, as well made as some people claim it is, is not fun. It is tedious, extremely monotonous, and slow. I got the game for $8,85 and had to download 91gb worth of files. The entire map worth of animals is 582kb. I cannot fathom what the other 90.99gbs are because its certainly nothing interesting or fun. Buy RDR2 for a better hunting experience plus an entire other game and story to play and enjoy.

What a joke. Everyone just spams all in with absolutely no consideration for their hands. I didn't get a single even remotely serious game.
