I am a veteran BF4 player since 2013 and BF1 player since 2016. Scout/Light Helicopters dominate every match, no amount of Stinger ammo is enough to take them down. Every match there will be a heli pilot going 105 - 1. Their flare countermeasures last way too long. Their miniguns have a larger splash damage radius than 120 mm HE rounds. Maybe this is why I loved BF1, no helicopters.

Early Access Review
Extremely fun with the right mods and maps. Your favourite gun or vehicle is most likely already in the workshop, I love the modded weapons that have custom animations and sounds, but it is painful to see a MP5 that has the AKM reload animation, so find the right mods for the best experience. The AI skins can also be modded to make it more realistic, red and blue soldiers feel too cartoonish so it's nice to customise them.

The AI is quite dumb when it comes to movement, they don't spread out around the map and instead move in a fixated path, same for AI-controlled ground vehicles. That kind of movement does ruin the immersion of a multiplayer-like shooter, they don't react when a tank is about to run them over, they just keep walking/running in that fixed path. I wish they would do something like dive out of the way or start running away from the tank. If a helicopter is shooting at AI I want them to run into a building for cover, not ignore it or shoot it with a pistol. It also hurts to see 2 tanks always ramming eachother because thier fixed paths intersect eachother, AI tanks won't aim that anything more than 20 meters away, enemy tanks will ignore you unless you are near a capture point, they don't stop and shoot you if are nowhere close to a capture point. I thought that the difficulty settings make enemy AI smarter but all it does is make their guns more accurate, they never use cover or flank a target. Suppressed weapons don't make a difference, enemy AI know where you are right after you fire at them with supressor or not, if you like how suppressed weapons sound then by all means use them, just keep in mind that they are only cosmetic.

The ragdoll physics also has problems, sometimes when a bullet hits you, you fly off the map and fall into some ocean outside the map borders, this happens to the AI as well and they can't really redeploy without dying, over time the map becomes emptier with more AI stuck outside the map because of this ragdoll glitch, I deleted all my mods to test whether it is a problem with the base game or mods, it still happens without mods. This is happening in every map and my game ends earlier because of this, my team of 100 AI get reduced to 10 after 10 minutes of playing because of this glitch, I;d say that this is definitely game-breaking.

Variety of rules/settings of the match is good, you can choose the number of bots, day/night, specific weapons equipped by each team, enabling/disabling certain vehicles for each team, gamemode etc. You can choose which capture points are controlled by which team before the match starts. But the number of bots each team is controlled by a slider, you don't know how many bots exactly are in each team.

There is a sound problem where you can hear things that are miles away, gunshots from the opposite side of the map sound like they are right next to you, you can hear a helicopter using flares even when it is far away. This also ruins immersion. But I love how explosions near you can be deafening for a few seconds.

The mechanics of commanding AI aren't smooth, you can tell them enter/exit a vehicle, man a mounted machine gun/rocket launcher, tell them to move to a spot you point at, follow you and lastly capture a point. I can see the AI trying to follow my orders such as capturing a point, but I want them to attack from a certain direction which isn't possible, they just follow that fixed path I mentioned before. I'm sure AI commanding will be better if the AI were much smarter.

You can't get bored of this game too quickly because there is always a mod that can freshen things up. When I got bored of playing the base game, I downloaded the zombie skins and city map and roleplayed as a survivor of the zombie apocalypse, all I had to do was let the zombie team have access to the knife so they can 'bite' me when they get too close, I gave myself and the survivor team just pistols, no vehicles. I'm still having fun with this scenario and maybe move on to something else soon, like SWAT vs Terrorists, SWAT will have M4's and M16's with Ballistic shields while robbers have AKM's and RPG's, SWAT team will use light attack choppers while terrorists will use technicals with mounted MG's.

Basically, if you get bored...add new weapons, vehicles, maps and skins from the workshop. A whole different game with different set of mods. That's how I clocked 100 hours in the game.

Overall, I love this game and I can tolerate all the bugs and inconveniences, I also accept the fact that this is early access and I'm sure the dev(s) is working on these problems everyday. In it's current state it is well worth the price tag. It is fun to wreck bots in a shooter that feels like a battlefield game.
