Way too hard. Up until the racetrack stage, the game is tough, but doable, then afterwards it is nearly impossible to avoid getting stuck on very unamusing boss fights and beer levels that are more frustrating than fun. Spending money on upgrades has barely any effect on damage and survivability, and in fact, I found some cheats that enabled permanent quad damage and max money, and still managed to somehow die (though I could place part of the blame on suboptimal weapon loadout).

People compare this game to other shooters on the PC, but the difference is in those games I had fun upgrading my ship, finding (interesting!) secrets and, you know, beating the game. This one? It tries too hard to be funny and difficult and soon stops being enjoyable. Too bad, because it was on a good roll for awhile.
