It's a great game but there's currently an issue of constant crashing, see link here for example https://i.imgur.com/Sqtrq5p.png until this is fixed I can't recommend this game.

Currently there's graphical issues that makes some parts of the terrain very bad to look at even at high settings and there's a constant issue with lighting/shadows popping in and out of the terrain below your character's feet, it's very prevalent in the sandy area of the game left to the city. Despite this issue I really loved playing this, I hope the devs fix it.

TL;DR: Duchy and maybe the Norsemen severely needs a overhaul that adds more unique resources and buildings as it lacks compared to Japan which has NEARLY 10 UNIQUE RESOURCES and 4 buildings.

5/10: Great take on the city building game that uses cards but the Duchy factions needs serious work to match with the Shogunate.

This is a really great gem hidden among other well known city/colony building games but I several complaints for how unique resources is handled between the current civilisations.

The problem I have with unique resources is that, the Duchy only has 2 unique resources and 1 unique building (It's relevant regarding the upcoming Aztec civilisation) whether the Shogunate has 9 unique recourses and 4 unique buildings.

Are you starting to see the problem I have? But yes I get it, the Shogunate is a totally different culture compared to the European based culture so of course they'll have unique resources like sake and sushi, so why I am complaining if that's the case? Well it's because the Duchy civilisation only has potatoes as a unique resource to which you can make vodka with the vodka distillery which is also a unique building for the Duchy too but the description for choosing which culture you want to play as doesn't even tell you this I had to find this out from the wiki.

Here is what I would do, remove potatoes and give it to the upcoming Aztec civilisation because it's doesn't make any sense why a starch native to the Americas is a unique resource to the Duchy.


As for introducing new unique resources for the Duchy:

Remove grapes from the map and add it into the Duchy to make wine with the wine distillery as a unique building to them (Romans were known for making wine with grapes) effectively removing the wine distillery from the card roster

If this doesn't seem applicable add in barley as a unique resource to make ale in the early game and then gin later in the game. already this gives the Duchy 3 protentional unique resources.

Why stop there? How about adding blackcurrants to make jam which in turn with wheat could make sweets like tarts? In total this could give the Duchy 6 unique recourses and buildings that could be related to those unique resources.

I'm going to stop here as this is quite long already.

I will never forgive what EA did to DS3 and Visceral Games but, I do give praise to the devs who made this remake possible. I thought it would be impossible to top the OG game but I was proved wrong, Motive did a great job of making the remake even better than the original!

If by the off chance Motive does remake 2 AND especially 3: FOR THE LOVE OF ALTMAN RIP OUT THE LOVE TRIANGLE IN DS3 IT'S NOT NEEDED.

I like this game but god I hate Lydia, buff her weapon damage output please.

Very boring and the RNG is against you.

This shouldn't be tagged as roguelike, you don't even earn permanent upgrades because of that it's way too unforgiving when you die.

"casual mode" is not even casual as you don't even get a 1 time spawn to offset the difficulty only that dropped item don't go away. that's basically the difference to "casual" and normal.

EDIT: It also works on the Steam Deck!

This is the best game in the genre of VS clones, heck I'd argue that this IS better than VS itself!

the only downside of Holocure has is that, non Holo-fans wouldn't get the in-jokes of the titles and descriptions of drops, weapons, and items or even the appearance of some of the bosses.

But don't let that put you off non Holo-fans, this IS a very solid game even if you don't get the jokes, a lot of love from the fans went into this game.

10/10 VS clone game. I'd say this is better than VS.

I bought this for the puzzle.
