Update July 2024
The launcher has been removed!

Update 2023
The launcher still doesn't launch the game, and there have been no more updates. I did contact Squad/Private Division support, and their did reply quickly and told me to just bypass the launcher and included a linked me to a Steam guide on how to bypass the launcher.

Update 2022
It pains me to say this, but I can no longer recommend this game, or anything from 2K/Take-Two/Private Division. Over the past year and a half, 2K has been updating new and old games to add a "launcher" in order to serve ads and collect data from users. It also fails to launch games. I could describe what it does, or I can show you in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsO-Zn-r82I

The launcher also does not work at all on Linux or the Steam Deck, but they still advertise their games as supported on Linux and Steam Deck. 2K knows about this and instead of fixing it, they continue to add it to more games.

Now 2K's launcher is being re-skinned and added to games published by Private Division, which includes Kerbal Space Program, and the upcoming Kerbal Space Program 2.

Original Review
I've had this game since early access (version 0.20) when it was just a sandbox game. You can still play in pure sandbox mode, or play two types of career modes. There is a basic science career in which you just basically do what you want, collect science and unlock newer technology without having to worry about money. Then there is the full career mode where you have to manage your entire space program. You must earn money by taking contracts like putting satellites in orbit, setting up space stations and bases in and around other planets and moons or even ferrying tourists. The full career mode is customizable to make it as easy or hard as you want. It has presets for normal, medium and hard, or you can adjust it to your liking. The game is no longer being updated, but there is still an active modding community that continue to improve the game.

I think the first Trine is better, but I still enjoyed this one.
