Early Access Review
The game is not bad, but it has massive issues IMO stopping it from being great and making it more of a 7/10 right now.

To make one thing clear: Difficulty is not a problem (in 99,5% of cases)!
I have played about 30h of PoE1 like 5 years ago, so I'm defenitly not a veteran and most of the time I don't have an issue with the difficulty.

IMO these are the real problems:

- Maps are too big (with too little to do. You'll have about 95% downtime on the maps)

- Checkpoints should be Waypoints (also having more of them sometimes would be better. Looking at you Dreadnaught)

- Being bodyblocked (by other players or monsters) shouldn’t be a thing. At least make it possible to roll trough them

- Loot distribution is not exactly too low, BUT I personally don’t find enough loot for my current class. Having a system to prioritize the active class loot wise would come in handy. For example most of my gear is well below -10 lvls from my player level because I just can't find better loot, and if I do so, it's for a witch or whatever

- Respecing should be free. It would help with creativity and letting people experiment. If you make it THAT hard to respec (atm I would go bankupt even trying to reset 15 skill points) all it does is push people towards "meta builds" making everyone have the same build, as it's just not worth it (or financially viable) to try out ANYTHING but the builds already proven to work


Another issue I do see with the game is the fact, that it feels like they don't even know who their target audience is supposed to be.
Many mechanics are punishing and most stuff doesn't even get explained properly. While other stuff is introduced well.
As a "gamer" myself with a little bit of experience in PoE and more experience in Diablo I can somewhat easily manage the stuff thrown at me without an issue or with a simple google search.
However stuff like resetting instances (CTRL+Click on a Waypoint) isn't explained anywhere and I just stumbled over it myself by pure luck.

I compared this game to Teamspeak the other day, where the foundation is 10/10 and very solid, but everything around it feels a bit dated and counterintuitive (tbh Teamspeak is mostly just ugly and not counterintuitive). And these choices to make the game deliberatly "bad" is what really bugs me.
While the game is still in Early Access, I do think it should have been better in many aspects, considering that it's mostly just an extension of PoE1 without completely reinventing the game.
I really hope that they'll end up thouroughly questioning some choices made, as right now it really does feel like an unrounded and vastly unbalanced experience, where some stuff feels great, while other stuff is just implemented badly.
