Post 3.0, ARK still functioning, Network games still functioning, DLC still active and useful. Testing ARRC 2170 mod.......and it is working. Anno Cookie isn't even needed anymore to unlock ARK access with mods installed.

The moment you launch the game, you are met with the usual Unity settings launcher, which instantly set off red flags in my quality sensors. I check the options menu ingame and its as barebones as you can get, music and master sliders, language setting and thats really it. The skirmish selection only has Challenge, 1v1 and 2v2 like it can't handle more then 3 AI at once.

Then we go ingame. Graphics are fairly topnotch but has a disproportionately long loading time for simple, at best, map design (we are talking 3 minutes for a flat map and a handle full of buildings on an SSD. Friggin Forged Battalion has quicker load times and allows 8 player FFA with interesting map design). Then I try moving the camera....AT ALL, right mouse, middle mouse, arrow keys, some RTS even allow WASD as camera scroll, NOTHING works and you can't rebind anything because the menu for that doesn't exist. The ONLY thing this game has going for it is art style.

If you are really looking for a better experience then this game offers outright, Look for Act of Aggression and look up the single source economy variant. It will beat this game in spades. Meanwhile I'm going back to C&C Generals: ZeroHour, which also wrecks this game under its treads and is over 15 years old.

The games atmosphere is perfectly executed. Exploration is encouraged and weapons/shields feel amazing.
The problem is locomotion options. As a person that has gotten use to armswinger as a locomotion style to simulate actual walking in other VR games, the fact that armswinger is not a PRIMARY locomotion method made me refund this. If Armswinger ever gets update to be a primary locomotion selection, I will rebuy this. (You have menu buttons that are unused, have that be your armswinger movement toggle instead of the track pad)

One of the better Strategies on the market, and its fidelity still stands.
As for lack of units and large battles, I hear mods have fixed this, particularly the Revamped Mod and its addons, including the Unitport addon, adding all the Forge Alliance teired units.
Its sad that it wasnt available as part of the game but mods expand everything

If you wanna bring down a building surgically with a nano rifle, or using brute force with a sledgehammer (or even enemy skulls), this is the game for you.
And now with the Steamworks update, the game is now even better without GFWL bogging it down.
