A fun, short (2 hours) puzzle game with some really gorgeous aesthetics. Honestly, I'm happy to have invested in better graphics for games like these. Absolutely breathtaking on a big screen, it seems almost a loss to those who've played on mobile. Really enjoyed the design and concept of the whole thing too, especially the clock!

It was also fun pulling levers, pressing buttons, and opening drawers while searching for puzzles to solve. Feels very satisfying. Overall, purchasing this was worth it, if only for the eye candy though lack of replayability may need to be taken into consideration.

An enjoyable but short-lived experience akin to a midnight snack. I admire the production value and execution of this game. It's very reminiscent of a few indie web browser flash games I used to play a long time ago, aimed to be more like an interactive piece of art. I really love the use of photographs blended with 3D graphics, and wow, actual film! I'm a huge sucker for FMV games so this was a bit of a treat. Navigation was fun to do; although I did find myself getting a bit lost especially with how there are so many ways to turn around the same spot. The dialogue was intriguing (as is the voice work) but the story left me yearning for more. Maybe in the future, the developer will make something longer in similar concept.

I recommend this for those who really get into games that are more into the experimental artsy side---Of course at a bit of a discount. For 2 hours, $7 does get steep especially when it's the extras and 'secrets' that make up the length of the game's time.

Loved this series and I love puzzle games like these. I feel like a big chunk of context is lost to those who haven't played the previous games so I encourage anyone to try out the predecessors for this title. They're free to play and can be found in the developer's website.

PROS:
> Really fun puzzles that range from simple to intermediate difficulty
> Simple interface, you can't go wrong with clicking everything you can touch
> File size is lightweight so you can play this between tasks
> Very affordable!

CONS:
> Just a little sad some puzzles don't last very long or are too simple to stand on its own chapter
> Plot is obscure mostly for those who haven't played any Cube Escape/Rusty Lake games but for people who just want to do puzzles this shouldn't be a problem

Overall, this fun little puzzler has charm. I love the vintage theme that's a mix of steampunk and lovecraftian horror---the age of collecting objects pickled in formaldehyde, and dabbling with the dark arts for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles.

I was pretty surprised with this game, I had assumed it was a much more shorter, simpler game looking at the screenshots and the fact it came as 2-pack at its price. It took about a total of 10 hours to finish this game (adding time of getting a bit stuck, and pretty much trying to squeeze as much of the dialogue as I could).

PROS:
> Definitely has some good witty dialogue, some lines genuinely gave me a chuckle and it definitely rang of people who've played old adventure games (and the references were pretty blunt!)
>>> They were very ambitious in terms of dialogue; most actions and options have unique responses!

> The sequel especially had really good object-puzzles that were fun
>>> Really enjoyed the idea of reusing that one machine

> A lot of references about adventure games which made me smile

> The price is pretty good for its length and content

CONS:
> Definitely has very outdated dialogue and humor reminiscent of snarky flash cartoons from the 2000s

> The inventory and functions (while endearing to have as an homage to old school PnC) drove me bananas
>>> Right-clicking to use different commands was an idea that I want to stay back in the 90s, it was done because of the limits of old consoles and that doesn't fly in this day and age anymore
>>> The characters walk way too slow (this was also something that happened in the 90s and it was horrible)
>>> The font isn't the most pleasant to read and often paces too slowly, if they employed voice acting I think the text would have better reception

> LOOOOOTS of backtracking, especially the second game and while there IS a map system, the map system in itself was so tedious to get to because it required a lot of scrolling about in the inventory that sometimes I just end up footing it

> Some objects do not disappear after you've finished using them which makes the inventory all cluttered but if you're those types who want a challenge by never knowing what you need to use then I guess this is for you?

----

Overall, it's...okay. The first game intrigued me enough to start the second but it was generally a bad idea to have left the first game with a very odd cliffhanger ending which I'm glad the second game picks up directly after. I managed to finish it at least, although towards the end I just wanted it over with. It got very draggy with its very painful backtracking and scrolling through inventory and hoping you don't accidentally hit the wrong item and triggering a dialogue you didn't want activated.

Tread carefully, I'd say it's an acquired taste and requires some patience. Its value is heavily measured by its brand of humor which varies from person to person.

Short but satisfying, it certainly didn't overstay its welcome. It's about 2 hours of gameplay, there's very little plot development and most of the story is explained right at the beginning and then concluded after gathering all crystals. Although it has Hidden Object as a tag, it's not the focal point of the game. Definitely more puzzle-oriented, given all of the achievements are for the puzzles only.

I don't have anything else to say about it, I pretty much kept a blank face while playing. Nothing particularly enamouring but nothing quite distasteful either.

PROS:
> Surprisingly good voice acting for something so small of a game, love the protag's voice
> Since the puzzles were the main gameplay, no two puzzles ever repeat and can range from simple to slightly challenging
> Hidden Object section functioned more of Find Parts>Combine>Place to Progress method that I liked more than your average find what's on the list regardless of whether it's relevant to the item you need
> Some nice character art that appeared more like a comic book style than the usual painted look

CONS:
> A very thin plot, they crammed most of the exposition in a single cutscene that lasted only 3 minutes
> Very limited music, I think I've heard the same piece althroughout the entire 2 hours
> Some background graphics are very stockphoto and outdated which made the character art stick out sorely despite being lovely
> No real challenge finding items whilst travelling, what you need is usually found in the same location
> A fair bit of backtracking, the map is small but it does get to be a pain sometimes

Simple and short, I liked the variety of mini-games. I don't particularly hate it, but I didn't really enjoy that much either. On the bright side, it's not broken! Confusing, but not broken. There are times where the solution might be way too out of the box. The getting honey part really took a while for me to realize how to solve it.

For future HO devs though, please for the love of god, don't make droplets of liquid be an object to look for, especially when it's made to be so tiny and hard to find. That was such a pain, finding 3 droplets really winded me. It was more frustrating than it was challenging. The HOs ranged from surprisingly easy to extremely ridiculous, no amount of eagle eyes will let you find whatever it is they want you to find.

To be honest, this game might be fun for kids or family time but I feel like you can already get better games for the price it's asking for which is pretty expensive for a game that took me only 2 hours to finish and that's with me screaming in agony per HO scene. For its original price, I really don't recommend it.

Fun, little game; good for a single day play! It took me 7 hours to finish, counting an hour or so of me doing some money-grinding.

I loved how simple the interface is, nothing confusing or complicated. The achievements were very doable but not too easy. You have to be really observant since a good portion of it is looking for really, REALLY tiny pixelated objects to gather. I can't really describe the gameplay---I suppose it's part management of resources+money and part hidden object.

The story was pretty simple, it didn't feel overdramatic or silly but didn't take itself too seriously.

The only con I could say was that the backtracking did drive me bonkers sometimes (especially when you gain new skills), although using the quick-travel map relieved some of that agony lmao. Oh, and having to sell things in small amounts (1-3 pieces at a time) definitely did not make the 'have 5000 gold' achievement pleasant to gain.

Overall, definitely a recommend! A gem in casual gameplay!

I was in a Halloween mood, so I decided to install all the "Spooky" themed games I had (it's a bit different from 'Horror'). I'd definitely consider this HOG a little gem, or more specifically a diamond in the rough. What I enjoyed about it is that its plot and story was surprisingly solid and consistent---a feat not to many HOGs (that aren't AM) at least could brag about. 8Floor is definitely a developer I can trust to deliver some kind of quality to its games. But this game is not without fault, there were a few gripes that appeared that made the whole experience unsavory.

PROS:
> Map, fast travel and activity notifier! Always a must!
> Chocful of locations and puzzles! They definitely didn't spare any details.
> Storyline was pretty clear and the conclusion was satisfying. By the end, I understood everything that happened.
> HOGs were pretty consistent in terms of quality. It wasn't a mess and it didn't look like clipart vomit.
> Graphics were overall pretty okay for my screen. It was crisp.
> Puzzles ranged from simple to somewhat challenging (or at least enough to make you stare at the screen)
> Animated 2D cutscenes! I appreciate their effort for this!

CONS:
> Widescreen was just a stretched screen which doesn't help at all during HOGs especially it contained small items
> The instructions to the puzzles were just outright unclear and confusing. What upset me most was often times the additional hint/help was just the actual solution to the puzzle and I'd accidentally spoil myself the answer. I wish they could come back and fix these texts. This was probably the biggest issue that this game suffered, which might make or break a person's interest in playing it.
> No voice acting and if there was, I'm pretty sure one out of 3 voices was an automated voice?
> The main villain is so petty, haha!

Overall, a pretty decent game. I really love the Jumanji thing. I swear if they just fixed the puzzle instructions issue, I would have enjoyed this game a lot more, that and maybe replacing the robot narrator voice.

This game was pretty mid-ground for me in terms of my thoughts on it. I enjoyed the graphics since I like anything remotely spooky or derelict but the font choice kind of broke the immersion from that. I'm assuming the original font was for another language, but a bit of font change could do wonders for this game.

I really enjoyed some of the puzzles. UNFORTUNATELY, I think a lot of people can agree that the instructions were way too vague for anyone's liking. I've checked some LPs and a lot of them skipped minigames since they couldn't understand what was happening either. I can see how frustrating some of the puzzles could be. Especially the blackjack bit, it took a moment to understand it from someone who doesn't play card games. Luckily, I've managed to pass through those games without skipping although it did take a hefty chunk of my gameplay time. This game is about the normal length of 3-4 hours a HOG usually contains (I left it running while doing other things so don't judge my time for it.)

The story though did have some interesting moments, I wish the sheriff had more presence since he doesn't even get to the end. It got a bit "edgy" there with the biblical aspect but if you're into that, you'll have a thrill.

Overall, okay. HO scenes were pretty entertaining and they weren't godawful messy.

It wasn't the kind of HOG I'm into but I thought it was pretty okay. It'd make a good mobile port more than anything. It's a lot of HO scenes so if you're just really hungry for those, this game is definitely for you.

Surprisingly there's quality character art in this game, kudos to supporting artists. Though, I can't say the same for the HO scenes, since most of the objects were your standard stock photo. It's kind of mess since some scenes are drawn or a weird collage of images. Plus, I really really appreciate the hand drawn stuff.

I worry these are the kinds of games that won't ever age well since the screen gets blurry at full view. It's a pretty short game and I feel like the SRP doesn't quite cut it anymore.

The story had some interesting moments although it lost me a bit since it quickly moved me from HO scene to scene.

Overall, if the whole set of Midnight Mysteries enters a bundle and you had none of them, I'd say pick it up!
