Such a love/hate relationship I have with this game

On the surface, it's a typical open world survival horror crafting game with it's own form of base-building and tower defense

The atmosphere is amazing. Lovecraftian all the way to it's core, basing itself from the tale 'At The Mountains of Madness'

https://sp.zhabite.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2860151011

"Fade to Silence" plunges players into a chilling Lovecraftian world where survival is not just a goal, but a constant, harrowing journey in fighting insanely difficult enemies to looking for other survivors to help assist you at your refuge camp. From the moment you step into this desolate landscape, the game envelops you in an atmosphere dripping with dread and despair.

Yet, it's the game's atmosphere that truly sets it apart. The oppressive silence of the frozen wasteland is broken only by the distant howls of unseen beasts and the whispers of madness that echo in the wind. It's a world where every shadow hides a lurking terror, and every step forward brings you closer to the abyss.

This game can be EXTREMELY unfair.. which brings up my love/hate relationship with it. There's a permadeath variant to where if you lose your 'flames' ( I believe you start with 3 to begin, with more to be discovered in the game) and if you lose those flames. You have to start the game completely over. So just imagine surviving 30 days in-game only to be wiped out by a one kill from an enemy called 'The Stalker' or freezing to death in a blizzard because you traveled to far from camp to look for supplies. The combat tries to be Souls-like but it's a little janky especially playing with keyboard and mouse. It's not the worst, however it's not the best, but it's enough to keep me playing it and attempting to beat it.

But amidst the darkness, there is hope to be found in the form of base building. As you scavenge for resources and recruit survivors to your cause, you'll gradually construct a refuge from the encroaching madness. Building and fortifying your base becomes not only a means of survival but a beacon of defiance against the encroaching darkness. Each upgrade brings a sense of accomplishment and security due to a complex and sometimes grindy crafting system, a temporary respite from the horrors that lurk beyond your walls. Make sure you find as many Flames as possible hehe.

Soooo in conclusion.. Do i recommend this game? YES if you fall in the following group: You love lovecraft themed games. This one is a good adaption of HP's tale. If you love punishing survival games, or intriguing stories. I think you should give this game a go, but be warned. It can be unfair and you will die alot. So tread that 'winter wonderland wasteland' carefully

Was it worth the 60 bucks I paid for it? Nop

Is it a Masterpiece? Not at all

But did I have fun? Totally.

Anyone who enjoyed such hack and slash games from the old days and bad dialogue, then I recommend this game. The difficulty spike during levels can be a pain though. I've died as much in this game as much as I've died in Cuphead.

The PS3-era gameplay is fairly satisfying as janky as it is. There's around 50+ finishing moves and they're pretty good looking animations.

The Story is lackluster, but I still found it enjoyable enough to complete the game. I will for sure play through this game a few more times.

Recommended? Yep

Early Access Review
Great game, overdue review.

Everything about this game is sweet. Don't let the early access tag fool you, it's great for what it is, and for sure will just get better once it's finally at 1.0.

Definitely one of the better sandbox looter shooters out there. Plus it has Co-op

And a great developer.. I've made a few requests and they were implemented into the game almost instantly.

Definitely recommended

EDIT: It also runs great on the Steam Deck. So buy the game already. (=

One of the Early Access games I supported since day one. A gem of a brawler, totally recommended for anyone who loves the genre. There's a good choice of characters that each has their own sweet abilities/moves/combos which adds some freshness to the game.

It also has replay value as well.

I can easily say that this is easily THE BEST BATTLEFIELD GAME to this day and be finished with this review and I'm sure many will agree with me. Being 7 years old, it's aged gracefully and it's still awesome as it was back in 2010.

I've never played any Battlefield campaign sooo this review will focus around the multiplayer portion. I have around 700 hours in this game and own around 4 different copies of it on the PC. I recently caved in and bought the steam version, mostly to get the dlc costume packs.

Multiplayer is what Battlefield is all about and Bad Company 2 does it better an all Battlefields. Even better than 1, 3 & 4 which I also own. There's 4 modes of multiplayer in Bad Company 2:

- Conquest
- Rush
- Squad Deathmatch
- Squad Rush

Multiplayer is class-based and there's four classes: Assault (ARs with Noob Tubes and ammo boxes), Medic (Light Machine Guns, Medkits and Defibrillators), Engineer (Submachine Guns, Rocket Launchers [guided and free aim] and a Repair tool or Mines) and Recon (Sniper Rifle, C4 or Mortar Strike, Motion Mine). Most weapons are unlocked when reaching a designated amount of points with the class of your choice, but some are unlocked based on your overall rank (level). These weapons can then be used by every class and are mostly shotguns, with some Assault Rifles (like the M14, Thompson or G3).

The Map design in this game is definetly one of Bad Company 2's best features. It features some of the best maps and they're very diverse. All of them are varied and don't endorse camping. From huge open Battlefields (Heavy Metal or Harvest Day), Jungle Maps (Laguna Presa), Choke Point Maps (Port Valdez, Oasis & Isla Inocentes), Desert Maps (Arica Harbour or Atacama Desert) and snowy maps (White Pass).

Weapons are varied and include many the traditional FPS favorites : AUG, GOL, M95, M416, M16, UZI, SPAS-12, ETC - there should be something there to fill your itchy trigger finger. The guns feel different and mostly also shoot different (fully automatic, semi-automatic, burst2X and 3X are all there). Recoil is present, but not too insanley high to interfere with gameplay or too low to make targeting on full auto easy. Except for one gun which I only prefer to use, the G3. It probably has the highest recoil of all assault rifles and also maybe the worse hit-reg hehe, but I love that gun. I'm approaching 10K kills with it and IMO it's the best gun in the game despite my two previous cons.

Bullet drop in Bad Company 2 is different from all Battlefield games. This can be good or bad depending on the player. In the pistols (secondary) department, Bad Company 2 is well served, with a variety of pistols (including the Tracer dart) available to all classes.

PROS:

-It's Still Graphically Beautiful. The game is 7 years old and it still looks awesome. It still has some of the best weather effects like the sand and snow blowing everywhere and making it difficult to see anything.
-The sound in this game is just WOW. I can be inside of a building and know if a player is above, below, ahead or behind me because of the awesome sound design in Bad Company 2
-Fully destructible environments
-Vehicular combat works well and balanced
-Varied and large map design (Best Map design to date in any Battlefield game imo)
-Awesome Community. Being a 7 year old game, the community has mostly veteran players with the occasional new player showing up whom eventually turns into a veteran player. The community is small, but dedicated to this game as I am. There's still many servers to choose and play.

CONS:

-No Jets or Planes.. Only helis in this game ( I can't fly, never could in any battlefield game, so it really isn't a con for me hehe)
-You can't go prone. So find something to hide behind

That being said I love this game and I will for sure be playing until either DICE pulls the plug on this game or gives us Bad Company 3.. Lets hope for the latter.

Do i recommend this game???

Hmm.. where to start with this one.

White Night is a game that is just very unique from the beginning. Set near Boston in the latter years of the Great Depression (1938), White Night tells a pretty creepy horror tale with noir trappings and ghosts.

This game is easily listed as one my hidden gems on steam as far as horror games goes. There's definetly some H.P. Lovecraft elements scattered throughout this gem of a title. Half mystery, half horror and full of black and white atmosphere, White Night delivers on what it tries to achieve. Making the players skin crawl hehe.

The game is entirely black and white except for the few sources of light that you will find throughout the game. LIGHT IS YOUR FRIEND AND ONLY FRIEND . This adds significantly to the tension of the game. Most of the time, you will move around using a lit match. There are the occasional light fixtures and switches that can turned on to assist with lighting to help navigate through the Vesper Mansion. When that goes out, there is definitely a feeling of dread and fear. You know that there is something, somewhere that is after you.

Pros:
-An amazing suspenseful atmosphere.
-Vivid and simple graphics that help to create the game's suffocating atmosphere.
-The game can be frightening and I love it hehe. The music and sound in this game is awesome and makes my skin crawl on occasions while roaming the mansion.
-Great Music, Sound Design and Voice Acting
-Neat Noir Story with Humphrey Bogart-like protagonist whom is also narrating the story as you play

Cons:
-Playing with either a controller or keyboard, the controlls will sometimes be wonky, this is due to the "Resident Evil, Alone in The Dark-Like" Static camera.
-Dying sometimes can be a pain because of the lighting-survival mechanic and because of the camera angles
-For me, the game gives a crash prompt after I close and exit the game. However this is nothing game breaking, just a tad annoying hehe.
-No Replay value, except for collecting all newspaper articles and such thingies. (In my case of writing this review, I will start to replay this due to my savegame being deleted. I recently reinstalled Windows hehe)

White Night is a suspenseful adventure game with a great story and some pretty sweet puzzles. I totally recommend this game to anyone who loves horror/puzzles/noir games or all the above. There's a few flaws, but not enough to deter anyone from playing this game. Did I also mention that this game was published by Activision? <--someone was obviously sleep on the job that day to let this gem through and get published hehe, good job whomever it was.

Sooo, do i recommend this??

Early Access Review
So what happens when System Shock and Deus Ex gets tossed in a blender? We get P.A.M.E.L.A.

At the time of writing this, the current P.A.M.E.L.A. version (v0.2.4.4 with updates getting pushed out on a weekly or sometimes every other day basis) has a lot to offer, even if it's still in Early Alpha. There is lots of depth to the sandbox (until the story's added) survival game that P.A.M.E.L.A. happens to be.

The game is beautiful with some of most gorgeous scenery I've seen in a survival game. It's easily THE MOST BEAUTIFUL Unity game on the market at the moment. It's actually kinda hard to believe the game was created with Unity.
Pros:

- Atmospheric & Immersive
- Beautiful Map Design & Scenery
- Lots of Stuff to do in its current state
- Decent crafting system
- Skill trees and upgrades make this game highly replayable
- Cool and terrifying enemies
- Unique Hacking system
- Inventory Management
- Combat and Weapon system
- Awesome Voice acting
- Very Responsive Developers whom listen to their playerbase with additions / fixes to the game almost immediately (I bought this game on the first day of release and i easily remember those 5 - 10 minute loading times hehehe. This is no longer the case and now the game loads instantly because the developers listened and did their jobs)

Cons:

- Enemy AI is a tad wonky, mostly the Robotic Security guard NPCS. sometimes they get stuck in certain places and also seems they will give you an infraction for the smallest of thingies and will place you in the rehabilitation ward if caught.

- Recovering dead body loot is a tad painful if ya do not know the map layout yet.

- Pretty demanding game as far as graphics and optimization go. (However the devs have been very very active on optimizing this game as much as possible while adding new content, etc)

- Needs more story elements and more NPC's to interact with. The dev's have been adding NPC's here and there, so lets see how

Both Pro & Con:

- A LARGE and BEAUTIFUL map. Its amazingly designed and you can feel all the time that went into creating this map while exploring EDEN. No two places look alike in this beautiful fallen Dystopian city. The downside is that it VERY easy to get lost even with the the built-in Holographic Map. The plus side of getting lost is that you will find something new that will keep you occupied and not worry or care about where you were originally trying back-track to hehe

- The interface GUI is what really makes this game, I find the immersive holographic approach refreshing. However sometimes the HUD can be a tad wonky or clunky. Transitioning from menu to menu can get a tad blech. New updates and such have been improving this issue though.

- RPG elements such as an inventory with upgradable capacity, upgradable weapons, armour and equipment, a passive skill leveling system and a pretty sweet crafting system ( can seem a tad grindy for beginner players). Inventory Management can be a pain.. feels like Resident Evil all over hehe.

- The option to build you own base is sweet also. Through a collection of placeable items designed for temporary, mobile outposts, players can carve out their own space in the world. Buildable structures include shield walls, turrets, portable storage containers and hydroponic farms to name a few. Occasionally an NPC enemy will spawn in your base if your away exploring EDEN. Hopefully this mechanic gets better stuff added and maybe the ability to actually claim an apartment or something of the sorts.

Overall, mastering the survival gameplay mechanics is crucial in enjoying a long and danger-fraught adventure through Eden since the game does have Perma Death. You will need to keep themselves hydrated and fed or risk succumbing to their own basic needs.

Fatigue is another survival element that determines how many of certain actions, such as melee attacks, can be performed before the character tires out. These levels can be managed through consumables or even by sleeping. Having your bones broken was recently introduced, so am both excited and curious to see what else NVYVE Studios has up their sleeve They're really are putting in effort to develop the game's depth and mechanics

Do I recommend this game in it's current state and current base price?

This was an impulse buy when I discovered this game in the discovery queue [first time that's maybe worked for me?] I Only needed to see only 2 or 3 of the screenshots before I clicked to add to cart button. This review is coming from someone who bought the game during it's Early Access and playing the now finished version

Whats goood about it?

Artstyle - Very vibrant colors and nice visual effects that can really immerse ya into the gameplay

The Adaptive difficulty - Is a pretty cool feature. When im in my zone, I can kill everything in sight and the difficult ramps up which also rewards better stuff. If im not playing so great, the difficulty scales down and I wont be punished as much by the swarm of enemies.

Auto aiming - Is a total first for me to love auto aiming in a game, even the ones with 'assisted aim' i always disable this. This gives me more focus on the acrobatics and platforming

Gun Fu Acrobatics - It feels like a 2D Bayonetta at times. The movement and animations are very good. Lots of acrobatic moves while shooting stuffs

Level Tilesets - This adds even more replayabilty to the game because even if you have to replay the first level/mission, the tileset will be different from the previous run, making things a little bit more unpredictable

Crafting / Loot/Weapon/Item Pickups - Is another cool feature that I wasn't expecting. Is possible to craft new weapons, miracles and other things that grant certain passive skills. Another big Plus in my book

Daily/Weekly challenges - These can really help with getting relics/loot and adding even more replayability to the game. There aren't that many different challenges at the moment, maybe 4 or 5 different ones for Daily and the same for Weekly I think? However the random tilesets again adds more replayability

Whats Icky about it?

Hmm, to be honest the only thing that bothered me about this game was that the main character, Seraph HAS NO SHOESS!!
-Thankfully the dev has addressed this critical issue as we all know, every butt kicking angel deserves to be wearing some awesome heels or boots (=

On a serious note, the only negative thingy I can find about this game is that sometimes the level design can be a tad confusing at times while moving throughout.

If ya are looking for a fun 2D shooter with uber replayabilty, then give this title a go for suree.

Do I recommend it?
