This is actually a better game than I had anticipated, with a nice element of suspense and exploration. Audio could have been a bit better tho. Worth at least one play-thru I'd say.

This is essentially a modern remake of the arcade game Pang/SuperPang whose gameplay style I always thoroughly enjoyed. Thus, I can only give The Bug Butcher high marks in its adaptation of it. I must say that this is a very addictive game where reflexes are everything and one can easily spend hours upon hours in attempting to master its nuances. I fortunately received the game free but it is actually one I would have purchased regardless since the execution of its development was done very well I thought, with its lovable looking characters. It can be enjoyed by anyone young or old, so pick it up and give it a try if you're somebody who enjoys arcade-style action in a PC game : )

Commander Cool 2 wonderfully blends both old school and modern into one fast-paced, challenging, yet fun platform game....a game that doesn't take itself too seriously and is a blast to play co-op. It possesses a charming style all its own and the focus thankfully is on gameplay above all else (as it should be).

I was especially appreciative of the surprisingly good audio tracks and sound effects which definitely add a retro-falvoured ambience to the overall experience.

Kinda reminds me of Serious Sam Double-D in some ways, yet it is also uniquely different too. So if you enjoyed that one, then you will likely give this one a thumbs-up too after trying it out. Now go ahead and start collecting those gold coins ;-)

The game is fairly solid overall, and wondefully captures that big-world feel with a suprisingly solid sense of realism. I actually enjoyed it so far after spending a few hours on it.

Sure, it does have a couple drawbacks (but what games don't?).

Namely...

- I feel the character control should have been made a lot tighter & snappier, without that silly sliding stop also. This would have made such a huge diff. It isn't super bad now, but it could have definitely been implemented better. I'd say this is my number one issue with this game.

- The registration nonsense of the game is just a needless PITA (although thankfully it's only a one-time thing).

But make no mistake about it, the graphics and atmosphere are absolutely spell-binding in this game, with solid character modelling and voice-acting. Story is so-so, passable.

And for the low sale price, you won't find anything better out there, that's for sure.

I'd rate this game a solid 7/10 as it stands (would have been higher with snappier character/combat control).

I can't even describe how many hours that I've played this, repeatedly, on the original Xbox. I wore out several controllers just on this game alone, it was that addictive :-)

What's especially great about it, is that it has a VERY lengthy campaign mode that takes quite a while to finish (unlike many newer games). The gameplay is impeccable and very challenging, even taking into account the old-school graphics. It's all about the gameplay here.

This game is an absolute steal for fans of this genre if you can buy it on sale, and I am so happy that I can keep playing it more on my PC now (along with the rest of this awesome series).

Btw it runs fine on Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate which is what I am using currently.
