I've played this game for years, long before multiplayer was added and you had to use a sketchy mod to play with friends. This game has gotten me through really tough times and has become a digital place of comfort for me. It got me through breakups, college, family drama, and even my dad dying. It's given me an idea of a life I'd like to work towards and never fails to calm me down after a long day. If you want THE cozy game to play while listening to music or watching a show on another monitor, this is the game for you. It starts off feeling like the game is really small and that there's nothing much to do but things open up quick and there are always mods. 10/10 just get the game already bro. Also Leah's best girl fight me.

I want to love this game because it looks amazing and I love the lore of 40K, but I cannot make this game run on my PC for the life of me. My one hour of playtime was spent in the menu waiting for the resources to load and having my game freeze on the intro scene just for me to have to wait for resources again as I tried different settings (in game and in steam) to get it to work. I have all the minimum hardware requirements overclocked and my drivers up to date, yet still had to run the game at the lowest settings just so it would load me into the first level of the game where my character was invisible besides the smoke effects from his chainsaw sword. The main part of the solution to the crashing was pausing the cutscene and hitting enter so it shows the loading progress for the resources for the first level, because all the resources before weren't enough I guess? I know other people are having the same problems too off of the subreddit and steam discussions so hopefully they patch this soon. I'm gonna request a refund and wait for things to be ironed out, hopefully things go better for you because I'm sure the game is beautiful when it runs.

It's made by the people who did Mirrors Edge and the good Battlefields and it's pretty good. The primary complaints of cheaters and the need for a better in game comms system are valid but addressable. It's free, try it then uninstall if you don't like it.

PSA: All reviews are biased and based on personal opinion and in the end you have to try it to know where you stand.

If you didn't let the hype get to you and went in with an open mind this is a good game even if it still needs some work.
I went into this game expecting a Cyberpunk GTA New Vegas hybrid with some good graphics and story telling and wasn't disappointed. I play with the graphics on the medium preset and it looks like Watch Dogs 2 did. When my PC is willing to run 60+fps on high it looks more like the trailers did back in 2018. I have 1080p monitors so I can't speak for the people with 4k standards but I have no complaints with it. Most graphical bugs got fixed when I updated my NVIDIA drives.

The combat is a combo between Watch Dogs and Ghost Recon. It's all in first person so it can be cramped at times but when you get enough levels in different things you can get through most missions on hard without dying too much.

Some closing points:

Healing items are too common and as of now I am half way through act 2 on hard and have over 50 healing inhalers. (imagine having 100 stimpacks on Fallout)

A melee build is too easy to get up and running. I invested 10 points into reflex and body then 2 skill points into street brawler and 2 points into blades. I can now 5 hit most people in moderate difficulty missions with a katana if i can get close enough.

CDPR has plans to continue updating this, they wanted to release it now because:
a: 2020 is the year the source material is based in and
b: we probably would've given up on it at that point
All games are a form of escaping reality so don't expect reality 2.0 when you go into this.

I played this back in the Xbox One days with the boys and it's just as good.

Pros of getting it now:

1: If you've played it before odds are it'll be a nostalgia trip and if you're still using the same Origin account you'll still have all your stuff and won't have to grind for any guns.

2: You'll get all the DLCs since the premium edition is the only edition on steam. At the time of this review it's only $8 which is a hell of a deal if you consider the fact that this is EA we're talkin, and this is a Battlefield game with all it's DLCs.

Cons of getting it now:

1: There are no official servers for BF4 anymore so you'll have to scout around for what servers suit you. Take that as you will.

2: Punkbuster is it's anticheat and is known to kick people for no reason. If you go to steamapps/common/BF4/_Installer/punkbuster/redist and run pbsvc.exe and choose to uninstall it will make the game playable again. This worked for me and a few others but keep in mind this is probably only one solution to this.

As for the player numbers, the last time I checked there were two thousand to three thousand players as a daily average on the PC version. Not as many as back in BF4's golden age but you shouldn't have trouble finding a few conquest matches at near full capacity.

7.5/10, 10/10 if you count the fact that it's $8 right now.

See you on the battlefield!

Early Access Review
If CSGO, Battlefield, and Roblox had a VR baby this would be it.

This game is great especially in squads. At the moment I'm typing this the game is in a good state but does need some work and I'll mark a few of the pros and cons of the game here, but note that I'm going off of my own experiences:

Pros:
The graphics are beautiful while still being safe enough for my PC to stay above 60 FPS.

The gunplay is addictive. It can be tricky learning how to handle a gun you're not used to but once you get the hang of it, you REALLY get the hang of it.

The new "fire support" option Commanders and Observers have is useful but not to the point of overpowering enemies.

Cons:
I have a bit of a love hate thing with this one, how little it can take to kill someone. I get that it's supposed to be realistic and it can feel good at times because of the fast time to kill, but because of this you will see a lot of people camping (sometimes when it's not the best course of action) as this causes a bit of cowardice in people who don't trust themselves enough to aim straight.

Optimization. I have heard a lot from people in voice chat about how their lower quality PCs can't handle the game at times and how it causes them to get lag spikes every so often, and you can argue that "they should just get a better PC" but the problem is there none the less. This can also cause some awkward fight where you shoot a person (i.e as they come around a corner to peek or push a position.) and you see them get hit but they don't die as if the server or maybe their PC didn't register the damage.

The lack of rewarding. The only reward you get from playing is seeing your level go up and getting new clothes. There is a Competitive mode but the wait times can be long and if you think it will be like Versus you'll be sorely mistaken. The only way I can describe Competitive on this game is if you took CS:GO, Battlefeild 4, and Rainbow Six Siege (but with no operator abilities) and put them onto a map about 2x the size of something like Dust 2 that would be the Competitive mode.

End list.

Besides that the game is pretty solid and is very replayable. New World has done a great job with Sandstorm up until now and says that they'll continue updating it so here's hoping they work out any bugs the fans might have.

And for those people who skip to the end for a numerical rating here you go.

8.5/10.

Hope to see you in Sandstorm!
