At one point I was considering to give up and just play something else (it has nothing to do with how many times Celebrimbor said Palantír) but ultimately I'm very satisfied with how the game turned out. To put it simply, this game isn't for everyone and it's going to require a lot of grind at times so if the thought of repetitive gameplay without much story to it got you to roll your eyeballs, this one will probably bore you quickly.

Pros:
  • Very satisfying and brutal combat.
  • Fairly interesting stealth mechanics.
  • Mind blowing number of unique situations crated by the Nemesis System.[shadowofwar.fandom.com]
  • Interesting, surface level strategy elements.
  • Near infinite options to mess up with the orcs.
  • Great story. I don't know why people say they're disappointed with the ending.
  • Amazing DLC (Arguably better than the base game).
  • Absolute value champion. (Definitive Edition took me around 100 hours to get 100%).
Cons:
  • Grind, grind, grind!
  • Unnecessarily restrictive skill execution implementation on some skills (Constant need for pausing to tweak skills).
  • Somewhat clunky movement.
  • RNG.

Main game
So basically, Shadow of War is just like Shadow of Mordor was, just expanded.
The main game will have you sneak around Mordor as Talion/Celebrimbor, trying to dominating the orcs to join you in the fight against the Sauron. This is what you'll be doing for the most part and in my opinion, the game would be just as good if this was cut in half or somehow sped up a bit. The sheer amount of grind required to get through this will put many people off...

As I've already mentioned, the grind is real but I've actually managed to have a lot of fun!
The game provides you with many tools that you must learn to use in order to make a 10m fight into 1m assassination/domination, whenever you can.
The amount of skills can be overwhelming at times but they all have their purpose and If you're planning on playing on a higher difficulty, you'll need all the help you can get.

My biggest resentment here is that the skills could've been implemented in a way that would remove the constant need for pausing and navigating to the character screen in order to customize them over and over again to best match the situation you're in. Other than this, the game was super fun to play and it managed to keep me entertained for over 100 hours.

Aside from the main quest, you will have almost intimidating amount of side objectives that you can but, don't have to complete. I've had a lot of fun with these as they provided lore and further insight in the world of LoTR (which I'm not that familiar with) and help you achieve near godlike levels of power for Talion/Celebrimbor and further customize your playstyle to the smallest detail.

Unfortunately nowadays it is not unheard of that a game performs poorly on a good system so I'll have to mention that SoW runs fantastic on my rig and that I've had absolutely no performance issues.

DLC campaigns
Arguably better than the main game.
I've personally found both of the DLC to be more to my liking than the main game was mechanically.

The Blade of Galadriel
This was a straightforward continuation of the main story where you play as Elatriel, with fresh but no too different changes to the gameplay.

The absence of grind and RNG in this one is nothing but an improvement compared to how the base game handled it and I would've honestly liked more of it.

Desolation of Mordor
In DoM you can only see the traces of the main game as it drastically reworks the playstyle and the Nemesis System.

The biggest change is that you play as Baranor who is a mortal which makes any death a permanent one. You don't have any supernatural powers either but don't worry, he's still an absolute badass.
You upgrade your gear by deciphering ancient maps and looking for the place depicted on them throughout the game world. This was incomparably more interesting to me although it has no replay value due to it's nature.

Once finished, the DoM becomes somewhat arcade-ish by allowing you to replay the last mission with all of the gear upgrades in what is essentially a score attack. So run fast, liberate forts efficiently and aim for that high score!

Conclusion
In my honest opinion, this is an overlooked game. The Nemesis System alone is such an underappreciated feature that allows for some unbelievable and unforgettable moments making your own creativity the only limit to how long you can keep playing this game while keeping it fresh and fun.

My advice would be to push the difficulty up until you're unable to "click your way through the game". You'll be forced to embrace and take advantage of the Nemesis System making you see and approach this game the way it was designed to be approached.

Definitely a yes, but just keep the grind in mind - there's a LOT of it.

It's not that I did not know what I was getting into, it's just that what I got wasn't satisfying.

Beginner's Guide is a narrative experience, a linear story. If you're looking for unconventional gameplay, it has none of that. In fact, it's barely a game in that regard.

You can and you will finish it under 2 hours even if you take your time like I did to try and explore the thing, hoping for Easter eggs and secrets. The game told me not to waste my time as there's nothing to find and I wish that I listened.

However, it seems to be good for most people so you might like it as well. I'm not really someone who prefers story over gameplay so I might not be the best guy to ask for opinion on this one.
Don't expect it to be the next Stanley's Parable. It's kind of the point of the game...

It's short, but amazing experience considering it's price tag.

The game is unique and hard to compare to anything but if you've played reboot Shadow Warrior, you might find slight similarities.
It is fast paced, good looking and has a combo/style meter and scoring system that should add an additional layer of challenge and probably a few more hours of fun to this otherwise 2 or so hours long game.

Also, the fact that it's was made by just one man is mind blowing because with some polish and more content this could probably compete with AAA FPS titles.

I don't think this game is worth it unless you REALLY know what you're getting.
I got it for free and promised to play through it but otherwise, I would've probably quit it and here's why.

First off, it's a walking simulator for the most part and while it has beautiful visuals and wonderful overall presentation it also has some of the most hardcore FPS dips that I've ever, and I mean ever experienced (these are so bad that they should be called submerges, not dips). I'm packing GTX 1060 with 6 Gigs of vRAM and an i5-7600K and my FPS, on fairly lowered detail, was still dropping at moments even below 25 frames. It's not like this is constant but then again, stable frame rate for more than a few moments isn't either.

The story is cool and I very much like the way it was (or wasn't) told, in fact I liked this more than the story itself. You're to piece it together from the clues you pick by observing the world and drawings/murals found on your journey through it.

However, if you're looking for interesting gameplay, it's best to avoid Aporia as it offers little more than walking around and solving some really easy and usually not that interesting puzzles.

One last, miscellaneous thing to be aware of are the achievements.
If you're an achievement hunter or a completionist, get ready for the worst achievement conditions I've ever seen in a video game like finding and consuming all of the health/resource items. And it's not like these are just a couple of achievements and you can still get a good game score, no. These "consume everything" make the 39% of the game's total achievements!
For comparison's sake, it would be similar to a shooter asking you to find (and consume) all of the ammo and health pickups even if you don't need them, and punish you with poor achievement score for not doing it. Ridiculous...

Stylish combat, beautiful visuals and adrenaline-pumping soundtrack. Welcome to Devil May Cry 5!

Pros:
  • Gameplay that makes every other action game look silly in comparison
  • 3 completely different characters to play with
  • Fair yet challenging and extremely rewarding
  • Wonderful presentation overall
  • Insane replayability
  • Story is actually good this time around
Cons:
  • Although very rarely, lock-on can still behave weirdly and unpredictable
  • No leaderboards
  • Frequent (but short) loading screens in menu
  • Level selections screen could have info and statistics
  • Nico is unbearable, especially her voice in english version
  • Sorry, but Trish looks hideous

The moment I saw the DMC 5 reveal trailer, I was hooked. There was a lot of hype around the game, I literally counted days to its release and my expectations were sky high. When you have all of these factors combined, you usually end up disappointed with the final product. I'm happy to say that this is definitely not the case with the DMC 5.
Despite all of the hype and despite my expectations, this game turned out to be everything that I hoped it would be and much, much more.

When we talk about DMC, the most important thing is of course the combat.
This game absolutely nails it. I haven't played something this tight and responsive ever since DmC spin-off released and before that it was probably DMC 4... You get the idea.
As you probably know already, this game has three different characters to play with and each of them feels like you're playing different action game.

There's Nero.
Nero is a close combat specialist with an arsenal of disposable cybernetic arms that give him unique moves and special attacks. If you've played DMC4, you know almost exactly how he plays.

The second character is the newcomer V
He might appear out of place at first since he does not actually fight but instead summons 3 demons to do his dirty work. You'll soon realize that he's as complex and rewarding to play as the other two.

Finally, we have the legendary Dante.
This old man has it all. Fast or strong, single-target or group based AoE attacks, defensive or extremely offensive... Dante is fun to play, pretty complex to master and definitely the most rewarding out of the 3 characters.

You will get the chance to familiarize yourself with these three characters as you progress throughout the game and battle hordes of demons of all different shapes and sizes. Enemy variety is great in this game and if you want to get your style ranking as high as possible you will have to utilize as many of your moves as possible and know how to approach different enemies.
Now all we need are the leaderboards so we can show off how good we can use those moves in specific levels. I'm not sure why they are not present in DMC 5 but I honestly hope that they will be back once the Blood Palace update is out.

What I didn't like about the combat was the reintroduction of the lock on.
I know that DMC games have always relied on this feature but personally, I think that the DmC spin-off showed just how good this game can be played without it. The removal of the lock on felt like a move forward to me not only because it is inconvenient to keep having it pressed or shuffled between having it on or off in order to pull off different moves, but also because it can misbehave at times.
It happens to me on a couple of occasions, mostly when playing as Nero and Dante that I would face an enemy, pull the left analog stick towards them and use the lock-on and the game would lock on the enemy on the other end of the room.
I do not know why this happens, it is probably an error but all I know is that in the DmC I never had a problem with this simply because there was no lock on yet the game always knew who I was aiming for.

The story was actually interesting this time around.
I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of the DMC story, I always played these games primarily for their gameplay. In fact, the only Devil May Cry story that I actually liked was Ninja Theory's reboot, DmC.
I'm happy to say that DMC 5 was successful in telling a good story and managed to keep me interested from beginning to the end. This was accomplished in no small part thanks to the amazing motion capture cut scenes and great character voice acting, except for Nico, she's unbearable. Every time she appears or talks, she made me roll my eyes. Her voice in the english version is attrocious and I can't stand it.

Other than Nico I didn't like Trish, but not because she was a poor character or had a bad voice actor (to be fair she's barely in the game) but because of the way she looks. No offense to the face model, but the in-game Trish looks ugly and I believe that most of you will agree with me that. Compared to the femme fatale Trish from the previous games, this one just failed. And what's with her costume anyway? Since when does she wear a crop top? I'm hoping for a modding community to fix her looks.

Multiplayer is a lie
Seriously, the store page is deceiving and there is no multiplayer in this game.
What we got is a "cameo" system that records player data and will sometimes use that data on specific levels where you might cross paths with another character. When I say cross paths, I actually mean that you can see them far off in the distance with pretty much no way to interact with them whatsoever. The game will then ask you at the end of the level to rate those players as stylish if you think that they did good which can be pretty tricky since most of the time you will not see others at all and even if you do, you would have to stop and watch them play in order to tell if they were actually stylish or not.

Sometimes you might actually connect with the player that is playing the same level that you are but to actually play alongside somebody, you will have to either play level 7 or level 11 as I have yet to find examples of levels that have segments which can be played cooperatively.

All in all, not a hit and miss but a complete mess in my honest opinion. Unnecessary and inconvenient feature that serves no particular purpose and doesn't really add anything to the game other than the potential of slowing it down due to the poor connection.

This could be a foundation for future features that might include stuff like co-op Blood Palace or whatnot but I'm not here to speculate...

All in all, no one's here for the multiplayer and if we just treat this as another single player only entry then this game is an absolute blast. You don't have to turn the network OFF, the cameo won't impact your experience and if you just look the other way every time Trish appears on the screen the I'm pretty sure that you won't find anything off about the game.

DMC 5 is not for everyone and that is a great thing. Not everyone will like this game but those of you that know what they are looking for and expecting from this title are definitely going to love it. Personally, this is one of the best games I've ever played so I wholeheartedly recommend it to those of you that are looking for a complex, difficult and rewarding hack and slash experience.

Oh and, thank you CAPCOM for making 2019 one of the best years for PC gaming already, stay awesome!

Personally, I would not play it solo but since the game is playable in co-op from start to the end, provided that you have someone to play it with, you can't really go wrong with Blood Knights. Liking vampire themed games also boosts the overall experience ;_;

The game is nothing special but it's far from bad. It looks good, has a couple of mechanics and the most important thing is that it does what it does pretty good and without bugs or other flaws for the most part.

The graphics are pretty nice for a top-down game as you can see from the screenshots.
The controls are tight and responsive and the progression system (although very surface level) paired with enemy types will be enough to get you through this 6 or so hour long campaign without making things boring.
The story is forgettable but we did not really care since the funny voice acting was enough to keep us going from one conversation to another. In other words, it was so bad that it was actually fun to listen to.
Camera angles can be really bad at times but were good for the majority of the game, even thought the camera seemed to favor player one whenever the two of us were forced to split.
The only real problem we had was that we were unable to complete a specific quest regarding the item called "Sonia's Ring", probably because we acquired it long before we were asked to so, if you're reading this, maybe leave the item where it is once you find it because you will find it.

The bottom line is:
If you have a buddy or a significant other and an afternoon to chill, this will do the trick for as long as you're not having any unrealistic expectations.

I'm giving it a thumbs down since the store page doesn't tell you that the campaign is single player only and the only thing you can do with friends in local co-op are mini-games that pretty much require you to play through the campaign if you want to know how to play it.

The game might be good, I would not know as I haven't played it since the trailer and the store page set me up in a couch co-op campaign mood which this game does not have.

Cool and weird. Although silly in it's narrative and failing in an attempt to be scary (if that was even the point), the way it was done was absolutely enjoyable.

Pony Island It is one of those cool games that you can only find on the indie game scene nowadays. It is a unique experience that every gamer who plays video games for more than just trends and because everyone else is playing it should consider playing.
Although it has been done before by others, some of the ways that the game messes with the player are rather smart and chances are that you've never seen anything like that before.

So yeah, short game, short review.
As much as I would like to, I can't say anymore, at least not without spoiling the game for you so let's stop here and say that yes, I recommend this game.

Even though I haven't played it in almost one year, these developers really deserve our support and I'm looking forward to getting back into the game with these cool looking player skins and weapons.

Best of luck with the future development!

Resident Evil is a franchise whose entries are kind of hard to rate and compare with one another since the games have seen so much change over time. Despite all that, Resident Evil 2 Remake is an excellent game and a true successor to the original.

TL;DR:

+ Faithful reimagining of the original in every aspect.
+ Everything that could be improved in the original is improved in this game.
+ Meaningful gameplay mechanics. Everything has its use.
+ It is hardcore more than in just it's difficulty settings name. If you ask for challenging, unforgiving experience, you'll have it!
+ It makes your objective clear without holding your hand with markers.
+ Superb atmosphere and overall presentation.
+ All the little nods and homages to the original are very nice to a RE2 veteran like myself.

- More of a neutral than a negative point, but I feel like the characters look rather different than the ones from the original/followups.
- Although already great, the atmosphere would probably benefit from additional music tracks.
- I could do with more in-game unlockables.

OK so, let me start by saying that I'm a big fan and someone who knows RE inside and out. I've played all of the old games and I really loved what they did with RE4 afterwards. However I also loved RE6 (which is not a popular opinion) and I consider it to be technically the best RE game but also the worst one thematically. However, no matter which style you prefer, you can't go wrong with Resident Evil 2 Remake.

This game, shortly put, does everything right!
The gameplay just works and manages to put a lot of pressure on the player and keep it going from start to finish. Whether you're being chased around the station by your nemesis, the terrifying tyrant "Mr.X" or trying to sneak past a Licker in a narrow hallway and hoping that the downed zombie doesn't suddenly grab your leg and mess up your entire sneaking attempt, you will feel the pressure weighting down on you. It successfully invoked the same uptight feeling within me that the original struck me with 20 years ago and reminded me what true survival horror is all about.

On top of all that, it looks wonderful and the games visuals successfully add to the horror.
Without going into detail and revealing the games locations, I'll stick to the police station and it's dark, flooded hallways with narrow passages where the zombies roam free. The game does darkness and shadows right. Your flashlight is absolutely necessary in some areas and when combined with the games light-dark ratio it creates amazing environments.
I've seen that some users were writing that they had problems with the lighting but I had none of that. The game has very detailed brightness settings (3 of them in fact) and improper calibration was probably the cause of the problem.

In traditional RE fashion, going through the game once is not really going to count as a full experience.
Luckily for us, this title has quite the replay value - just like the original had. Completing the game with either of the characters will unlock the "2nd Run" for the other character which is a replay of the game with quite a few things changed. From objectives and progression to enemies, things will be different enough to keep you interested. The maps are the same for the most of these two runs but the way you play and progress through these will be quite different.

Unfortunately, compared to the original game there isn't that much extra content.
Besides the 4th Survivor and Tofu there are no other game modes at the moment although I've heard that some will be added as a free DLC. There are some extra weapons and original costumes that you can unlock but that's it. It's not bad but I kind of hoped they would add more of these but, we never know what might be in the upcoming updates.

Finally I'd like to give a definite YES to this game, congratulate the entire RE2 Remake team on a job wonderfully done. Now I can only hope that this one sells good enough so that one day we might get a Nemesis remake of even better quality.
