Very, very buggy.

Very, very unbalanced.

Got me past the 2 hour mark with a pretty good prologue, hit me with the jank, very unbalanced, and frankly very misleading fight straight out of the prologue.

Gives you a companion psyker that can't use her warp powers because she summons a plague bearer straight away (as she's unsanctioned, she ignores the whole veil mechanic which means even the most tame psyker talent causes her to make an already unwinnable fight, go completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥). Enemies will *consistently* hit your high dodge, in cover character for 10+ damage in the first fight while you barely do 5 damage per hit with 20% chance to hit them while they stand in the open.

It's not that the game is "cheating" but it is totally not balanced for an enjoyable experience. This early in the game, some basic tactics (since you have few, if any, abilities at this point) should see you through fights against rebel pdf...I can't imagine what late game fights must be like...

Adding a positive review as I've had no performance issues and the game is easily the best soulslike not made by FromSoft themselves. It's well made, has great visuals, the "gimmick" of two worlds is genuinely interesting in multiple ways, the combat is very fluid and has nice weight to it. The bosses I've faced so far have been well made and never felt unfair. The enemy density is quite a bit higher than typical for these types of game but overall, I've enjoyed my time with it a lot and have had no technical or performance issues.

However, I do have a pretty beefy PC and a 4090 with frame generation on, so take that as you will.

EDIT: Updating this as I've played more: Still no crashes, great performance still, "two worlds" mechanic is still being used a ton to great effect. Honestly, at this point I think if the game was made by FromSoft instead of Hexworks, everybody would be heaping praise on this. It's pretty much Dark Souls 4. My personal favorite game in this genre is Sekiro, but this is easily my second favorite. Parries that are much more manageable in the midst of combat, even without a shield. Everyone has ranged weapons/spells and these have a rechargeable ammo system instead of ammo being consumables. Lots of upgrades, different weapons etc.

Probably the biggest complaint I have at the moment is the enemy variety is a bit on the low side. Guy with two axes, Guy with two axes but fire, hunched mage with raidiance, hunched mage with fire, etc. They also sometimes take "mini bosses" and turn them into regular elites after you've faced one.

But I also appreciate that the bosses are just the right bit of challenging (imo). Everyone complains about the first boss but I found her to be very similar to many Sekiro bosses so perhaps that's why I thought she was fun to fight.

Papers Please but with live action video and a broadcast theme. Otherwise similar for all the right reasons. If you like management games that can be stressful and enjoy dystopian overtones to your story, this is a great game. I am a big fan of 1984 and Brave New World so this game hit just right.

Always have enjoyed "social stealth" games like the Ship and more specifically, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood's MP mode. Hoping with this game having some more "action" mechanics and an extraction/Hunt: Showdown style objective will give this one more longevity than previous attempts for this genre.

The agents feel nice and varied, solo mode is definitely tense and very much feels like you're both hunter and hunted. I've not tried trios myself, so cannot comment on that. The maps are huge, the artstyle is fun and serves the game well, the NPCs are really good at making you doubt who is or isn't a player which really adds to the paranoia and suspense.

Solid title for $20, nice variety of agents with different weapons and abilities (kind of like Overwatch), everything gameplay related (agents, abilities) are unlocked in game, only thing "sold" are some extra emotes. Lots of skins and other cosmetics are unlocked just by playing.

Recommend picking it up, my understanding is that it is crossplay enabled so the population is a bit better than what it shows on Steam, I've yet to wait longer than a minute for a match.

Good cosmetics (imo), currency is enough for a "large bundle" with 400 currency left over (large bundles include "hat", "shirt", "pants" and things like weapon skins and trinkets it seems. These bundles are 2100 currency (for reference $5 = 1000 currency).

I like it, I like the game, easy purchase.

Pre-release "beta" and already 70 hours.

Sure it's got performance issues, crashes, and disconnects. But it's a love letter to 40k and easily the best 40k game ever created...and it's not even close. Any fan of the "coop horde shooter" genre will enjoy this and any 40k fan will enjoy this. If you are both...this game will be your new obsession. It's incredible. Visuals, sounds, gameplay, etc is all a nice step up from Vermintide and feels like Fatshark's first truly AAA title.

This is actually a really fun game and not something I normally play. The animation is great, the writing is consistently pretty good (I actually, genuinely laughed at some of the humor which I didn't expect), the systems are fun and seem relatively deep overall. I love trying to balance ingredients to make the best potion but also trying to be economical and getting by with what you have, the haggling card "battles" are actually VERY fun. Again, not a card battler type person by any stretch but this game is all very fun. I was surprised by the "competition" (ie, the victory conditions you must pass or you lose) being as hard as it is but I also enjoy challenge and it adds a lot of strategy.

HOWEVER. This part of the game, the difficulty, has absolutely no settings. You cannot increase the amount of time between events or anything. You also can't make the game "harder". It just is, as is. Ok. Fine. But even when you win, which I have not myself yet, I have read the game just ends. I see no reason to doubt this based on the story and that's VERY disappointing.

With the number of upgrades, ingredients, etc, it would have been a nice "reward" to continue working on your shop and talking with the other characters until you grow bored and want to do a new game or whatnot. And this fact alone has nearly instantly killed my drive to boot it back up. That there's no "potion shop" mode or something where it's more chill, even after you "win" is very disappointing.

It's Cult of the Lamb all over. Once you reach end of the rat race, you realize it was very short and there's nothing at the end and it kind of kills the magic of the rest of the game. At least, it does for me.

Purchased on GMG, I would refund if it I had bought directly on Steam.

Basically, the game seems pretty fun and it looks great but it's got insanely unstable FPS and going from 4K with RT on to 1080 on medium...made absolutely no difference. Even DLSS didn't help one bit.

Something is wrong with their optimization to cause such an unstable framerate. And the problem is it that is UNSTABLE in a game about timing as it's a soulslike. While Elden Ring might have been a bit demanding on release, it was consistent in its FPS. This is just all over the place. I'll go 30 seconds with 60+ and then randomly, nothing moving, the game will just dip to under 40. Feels awful and judging by what others are saying, this is not uncommon.

Since I'm leaving a negative review for performance reasons I'll list my build:

Easily one of the best DLCs of the trilogy. Huge amount of content (marked versions of Chaos Warriors for all 4 gods, 4 different legendary lords, even voice lines are changed to reference your chosen champion by name), spot-on campaign mechanics with taking souls for gifts from the gods, using them to mark your champions and even ascend them to daemonhood.

Probably my favorite roguelike since Hades.

Definitely harder but I think if you really enjoy "failing but growing a bit easier with upgrades" game loop, it's one of the best. A *huge* skilltree that has tons of upgrades for everything so you can always decide what you want to make easier. Gear and runes add more ways to customize your character and can be tailored to each class. Lots of classes that play pretty differently, lots of map variations. I'm still finding new rooms.

I think if you want to treat it like Hades or RoR2 or other Roguelikes where you can have "god runs"....this isn't quite that. This is more about dying a *lot* and being ok with just getting a good chunk of gold to keep upgrading and push further each time.

The permanent upgrades are significant enough and plentiful enough that I always want to do just one more run. But if you're looking for a roguelike where you "beat" each run by getting to Hades or Mithrix, this isn't really that.

Also, this the perfect steam deck game. Idk if I would play it that much at my desk but I bought it for my steam deck and all my hours on my steam deck. It runs fantastically, looks greats, and doesn't drain the battery very fast at all.
