I miss the christmas level. It had a train. A TRAIN.

Game is surprisingly an actual game, with puzzles and platforming and exploration. It's not a Goat Simulator sort of nonsense sandbox, although you can certainly have those sorts of shenanigans (especially in multiplayer), and the levels are long enough to enjoy fully.

My friends don't like platformers as much, which is a shame because I personally really enjoyed this. It's entirely puzzle platforming, stuff like "how do I get myself over there" instead of "oh no dodge lasers and return fire." The game lives up to its name, there really is no time to explain. New mechanics are introduced wordlessly, explained only through clever level design that encourages the player to discover what they can do with the new mechanic, and flawlessly tests the player's knowledge later for just long enough to stay fun. Cosmetic collectables litter the levels to provide an optional challenge that usually requires total mastery of the new mechanic. The hats range from amazing to meh, and I'm personally not a fan of the ones that replace your head entirely, but they're all fun to acquire and enjoy having in your collection, even if you never use them.

Don't be like me and forget about this game for a year or else you'll forget core mechanics like you get more height by walking off an edge while shooting down instead of jumping first.

It may be prudent to separate work and leisure spaces to maximize productivity. Treat this space as your home, but never forget that it is not.

Welcome aboard, captain.

This is a game with a moderately low skill minimum but a deceptively high skill ceiling. Mastery of the mobility options is not required to complete the game but saves a whole lot of time and makes you feel like a god. With the modding beta out now, there's already enough good levels that I can promise you that when the level editor is pushed to Stable, there will be some amazing content to infinitely extend the replay value. Not that it matters, because each and every level in this game is so fun and charming and full of secrets that you'll want to go back and replay them again and again, both to complete the achievements and just to re-experience all the crazy joy.

Early Access Review
Do you like crashing things? Do you like NOT crashing things? Both playstyles are catered to.

I get dizzy when trying to walk away from this game, because my reference frame's still on that landcrawler that's sliding around, or that ship moving at a constant velocity in space that I walked around, conducting repairs midflight. This is a good game.

The tutorial bugged out on me, but it started to feel like the complex magic of Magicka with all of the nonfun of Realm of the Mad God.

It's Minecraft without the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's Farmville without the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
It's a deconstruction of the whole RPG genre. The only castle you have is your home, the only quests are the future.
Yes, it's aggravating at first. You search desperately for the bandits and the dragons and pretty princesses. You watch videos and expect extreme dubstep drops from space.
But, spoiler alert, you won't miss such trivialities. The game wakes you up from such petty tropes. What good is a princess with 2 lines of text? Or a recurring enemy who appears hundreds of times in the course of walking from 1 town to another?
Farming Simulator 2013 doesn't try lying to you, not once. The game offers you quests every so often, to mow a lawn or haul a crate across the lush, bountiful countryside. A simple diversion to earn a simple amount of cash while your farm hands do the repetitive tasks.
And then oh god yes, the multiplayer. Sublime bliss, shared amongst your friends.
