Incredibly challenging, but otherwise excellent metroidvania.

Combat system is really great and draws inspiration from Sekiro at its core. It requires some hard time learning and understanding, but eventually it will just click and you'll start to genuinely enjoy the battles (just like in Sekiro, if you know what I mean).

The exploration, story, characters, and art design are also top-notch.

The only drawback I can mention is the slightly clumsy platforming, but you get used to it over time.

Worth mentioning that game runs perfectly on the Steam Deck OLED at a stable 90 fps with just 8-9 TDP.

It's like the Indiana Jones movies from the 80's got another installment. A masterpiece of a game that was made with incredible love for the original films. Thanks for bringing back my childhood, Todd Howard and MachineGames!

It's like FromSoftware and Santa Monica took all the best features from their games and made a child. My personal game of the year.

I wish I could leave a neutral review.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 has all the elements to become one of the best open-world shooters of this generation. It offers a vast and really interesting world to explore, great graphics and sound design, decent side-quests and an amazing atmosphere reminiscent of the original games.

However, the game requires significant polishing and fixing. There are numerous visual bugs and glitches, script failures, and extremely weak enemy AI.

Do I recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2? Yes. Should you play it in its current state? No.

If you enjoyed GRIS and are seeking more diverse and interesting gameplay, you'll love this one. Expect the same astonishing visuals and music, but with more combat-focused gameplay featuring some cool mechanics involving Neva and a wider variety of puzzles and collectibles.

P. S. Runs great on Steam Deck. Rock-solid 90 fps even on 6 TDP.

I really enjoyed the new locations. They are stunningly beautiful in terms of art design and more content rich compared to the main game. I also liked that the game finally has more DS3-like castles with some interconnected routes and shortcuts — something I missed in the main game. And in case anyone was wondering, the DLC map is roughly one and a half times larger than Limgrave.

I would especially like to mention the redesigned dungeons. They were the weakest part of the main game as they didn't differ much from each other and were unrewarding. Apparently, the guys from FromSoftware really took into account the feedback and the DLC features fewer dungeons, but each one stands out with unique content, enemies, and mechanics.

The DLC added a lot of new weapons, armour, talismans and spells. Some are incredibly cool, but I’ll avoid spoilers.

My only gripe with the DLC is the balance. Regular enemies weren’t much of a problem, but the elite ones and bosses have serious difficulty issues. Most of the bosses feel like they have infinite stamina and can often do a series of 3-5 strikes and EVERY one of those strikes can drain up to 80-85% of your HP or even one-shot you.

Design and art wise most bosses (not all) look spectacular tho. They’re just in dire need of a nerf.

In summary, this is a really great DLC with some kinks that should be fixed with patches. So if you're considering buying it but are afraid of the overly inflated difficulty I'd wait for a few patches.

Early Access Review
I’m not going to play it until version 1.0 is released, but I want to support Supergiant Games now. ❤️
