Valve was poised to complete the trilogy, and thereby finish the greatest game story ever - and they walked away. Maybe it was fear, greed, stupidity? We will never know why they decided to never make Episode 3. What we do know is that instead they decided to make a soulless pay to win card game, a MOBA clone, and a VR spinoff. Simultaneously, during this entire time they were either dead silent, or openly trolled their fans for being so patient. Steam made Valve lazy, and too successful.
Shame on you, Gabe.

Id' like to address you personally Gabe Newell, yes im talking to you. The so called one Gaben. I have a question for you. How could you have thrown it all away? It staggers the mind. A PC gaming icon capable of drawing greedy and contemptible gaming companies towards the truth. Make no mistake Mr Newell this is not a gaming revolution you have started ; this is death and finality. You have plunged gaming into freefall, even if you offered Half Life 3 right now I cant guarantee that the fans would accept it. I fear they look upon even steam with suspicion. Help me win back their trust Mr Newell. Release half life 3 while you still can.

Better than any other zombie game!

This is the most overrated game in history. Toxic players, long wait times, laughable game balance, "strategy" consists mostly of gimmicks and got-ya's. Perhaps the worst insult of all is the inability to surrender in a competitive game. You are forced to slog through every single game, even when its obvious beyond doubt that you have lost. To top it all off, there are legions of die hard fans who will profess to their dying breath the quality of this game.

PS : Shame on you VALVe for making this instead of episode 3. What an insult.

This game is not as good as FOTS but it is still pretty good. The patches they have been releasing for years has definitely made the game much better (though it is still prone to glitches) I had a lot of strategic fun with this game and it can go toe to toe with Shogun 2 in some aspects.

If you want a more modern experience though, go with Shogun 2 FOTS. Unless if you think the 18th century is more interesting and you like line infantry combat more. Even though there is line infantry in FOTS it is a lot faster paced than in empire. ETW is a lot more like its time period.

I have played through this game 4 times and I regret nothing
