Edit: Nov 10, 2022 Update finally forced anticheat on so cheatEngine gamer chair users have been nerfed.

Game HAD great support on Linux, and now EAC has made it unplayable on Linux as of today. RIP penguin friends. :(

Game runs great on Linux via Proton.

Cheaters are ruining it, but aside from the usual it's a great game. The players wiping lobbies with URLs advertising private cheats is appalling.

The game can be played with 0 anti-cheat due to incorrect EAC implementation.

Will recommend when I feel the anti-cheat is fixed, and cannot be played without it on. Yes, the game can be played without the anti-cheat even on.

Idk why I hadn't tried this game till now. Has no business being as good as it is for a game from 2007. Feels like WWII Metal Gear Solid, but more fun imo. You have a lot of freedom. Game's trailers and such made me think the game was clunkier than it actually is. Each mission seems to have a lot of replay value, there are many ways to go about things. Another game like it would probably be the Sniper Elite series, but with more focus on stealth and deception than making intricate longshots. I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

While the tutorials are like non-existent, if this is your first Souls game some youtube tuts are necessary. After you get the hang of the combat system, the whole game opens up.

The world ooooozes ART. It's a masterpiece. The open world is lovely, and it's fun to get lost, and learn a new place in and out. It's a whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vibe.

You will die, but you'll come back at your last area you rested. Try to plan your dives into combat by resting at a Grace point nearby before heading in or you're gonna have a bad time.

Edit: No performance issues for me, GTX 1080ti, 4Ghz CPU. I noticed performance drop if I switched from the game to other tasks and back, but that poor performance was resolved by putting it in borderless fullscreen. Doesn't happen if I don't tab out.

10/10, runs better than minecraft with the 100 tech mods I like to run, has baked in mod support, and an already thriving modding community.

Way better than I remember. Try it with the 2009 Complete mod, smooths enough rough edges to make it overwhelmingly enjoyable in 2021.
