Solid distillation of survival mechanics in an uncommon setting. Time-consuming endgame makes lack of saves a sore point.

If Goblet Cave was the cave-exploration aspect of Minecraft given its own game, Deer Hunter II is the survival aspect.

The variables all make sense (though the beginning is a little harsh), there's a good variety of things to experience, and the sense of progression is satisfying. That said, given how time-consuming the ending is, the lack of save-game functionality is really irritating - especially given how Sleep serves little purpose, other than placing the game in an idle state.

Still, this is a well-done game and I feel it's worth the price. Recommended.

If you want to minimize your time spent trying to get over the final hurdle, here are my SPOILER tips:
Don't fight the final boss until you have a full quiver of arrows PLUS 8 sticks and 8 feathers in your inventory. Watch the colored circle inside the glass - every time you score a hit, it should shrink. Take cover behind boulders and craft more arrows when your quiver is empty. Hit the boss with as many arrows as you can, as quickly as you can - its health regenerates over time. Once the boss it defeated, take the orb to one of the platforms directly in front of a pyramid. Shoot it after it expands.
